Wow, as I said, I do not know this is the same thing I asked him about, I assume it is, fairly sure it is.. could be different. Why not just wait til we get word. I only posted that to caution if it is the same exact thing (think it is) to wait for an ok. People ready to cut one another over this is silly. Many are interested, there will be a response eventually and all will be settled. Just don't go get yourself jailed for having a smooth screen or being accused of using something illegal when your game really seems legit. That's all I meant.. as Aaron Rodgers once said. Relax
I have been working on a client update for UOR. It will update the base uo client from version. 5.0.8.3 to 7.0.15.1. This is 2-3 years worth of client upgrades. This client does not desync like the older ones does. The program above supports clients 7.0.15.0 and above. The newer client should fix the desync issue you're having. Let me know if you want to try the updated client out with this fps mod.
fps patches make zero difference in my opinion let people use em people claim that the game is better to look at with clients like Orion etc and why not let people use things like that if all it does is improve their visual experience its the same as a graphic mod. As far as this being a speed hack it wouldnt make you faster at all you still run at the same speed so im suprised telathon said that.
He didn't say that, he said the server may see you as essentially doing it or something. Lol. Afaik from what was said is it was you appearing to the server to do such a thing, nothing to do with you actually hacking. That's what I think he meant, and that's what I tried to explain as I understood it could be causing suspicion although you were being legit part. Guess it's only me and my ability to communicate an idea is terrible, cause nobody gets what I'm trying to say and use caution over. Just a false positive if I understand it correctly.
FPS patcher is half of the speedhack Theodin. It is used in conjunction with another client to perform several tile skips instantly. It is what Blitzkreig used and was called out for several times in @Hiro 's Home Movies.
"Speedhack" lol... Your characters position is not clientside, the server sets your position on the map. To speedhack, the patcher would need to connect to the server and tell it your position. This patcher only affects the frameskipping, nothing else. Its the same playing modern games @15 fps with a bad internet connection and you "warp" around. Then you get a gaming rig and a decent internet connection and everythings fine while you play with 60fps and a ping below 100ms.
What i call a (speed) hack or even cheat is that mod wich removes all the trees, or showing field spells only as tiles. THIS gives ppl who use it a significant advantage over those who dont use it. Imho.
Whatever you call speedhack is neat. I call speedhack utilizing a program to run faster than designed on the server. FPS Patcher does it in conjunction with another client. I'm not against patcher, just the hit a button and jump 3+ tiles option that comes with it IN CONJUNCTION WITH ANOTHER UO CLIENT. I hope my point is clear here. I could maybe type it out again with bigger caps?
I think what @Dr Satan showed in his log, is that Chris said when you use this patcher to improve the framerate, it makes your client ask the server for position information more frequently than a normal client. The two issues with this are: - When used by a lot of people, it can cause extra stress on the server - By requesting this information more often than normal, it can trigger server-side speedhacking checks This isn't the same thing as a simple art modification, which is 100% client-side. Personally, as someone who spends their time mainly running a vendor shop, I don't need the extra framerates and this doesn't affect me.
In the line right before the logs, did you see him say this: the file is like right there to be downloaded, do you think your first step in "figuring this one out" would be to make sure we are all talking about the same file??? if the guy with the logs says "Assuming we are talking about the same thing" don't you think he could confirm it? Here i'll do it... Hey Dr Satan! Would you be able to download the file that was linked in the thread and CONFIRM its the same program you were talking to telamon about? If its not too much trouble. Thanks for the help! Im sure we'll get to the bottom of this guys! We can do it!
It is pretty clear that what Telamon is describing in the response is exactly what the FPS Patcher linked does. If people are choosing to ignore Telamon's response in favor of their 'expertise' on the matter, that is their prerogative. Stop arguing semantics and attacking people trying to provide information like a bunch of little babies and go use the thing if you are so confident. Or get off your lazy rump and contact the only person whose final word matters on this subject; then you can take up his time arguing with him while appropriately delaying any server improvements he is working on just so you can run around with Happy Feet.
Whenever someone suggests that the community come together and decide on a server impacting item, I'm going to refer them to this thread... ... followed by a hard "nope".
Maybe to you it's clear. Me, not so much. Telamon didn't respond to anything. Someone posted some chatlogs they ASSUME are related. He chose the words not me guy. And yes use the thing if you're confident! Unless you're told no by telamon and/or other staff. But then you shouldn't be confident. Edit: LOVE your BOD guide! Thanks for sharing it!
Thank you, I hope it helped. Per the log from DoctorSatan it appears that Telamon's issue with this FPS Patcher is that it affects the server, not that it is a speed hack. From the mouth of the gift horse, the results are sending movement packets twice as often and making you appear to jump around. This matches what Telamon said about "overclocking the client and [wrecking] the server." It also matches what Telamon said about making you look bad to other players. I don't have any knowledge of what speed-hack detection is in place or whether this patcher would trigger that detection. The poster said himself that he has never heard of it triggering detection mechanisms. However, it seems quite plausible to me that the patcher does have a negative effect on the server and there is a threat of banning for its use. That is enough to deter me from using it. As an added bonus, the FPS patcher has side effects similar to those of someone speed hacking; which will lead others to (while incorrectly) assume you are cheating. Most of us will agree that this patcher is NOT a speedhack. But it is not exactly to your benefit if that is what everyone believes you are doing.
