You stated that you don't have time... 3 pvps will allow you to PvP while ones afk macroing making using your time more efficient.
I honestly believe doing away with stat loss on reds would bring more actions to the streets. It most definitely would mold me back to my old ways. +1 for getting rid of stat loss to murderers. Is reds stat loss permanent or once they macro off the count their skills return to normal? I honestly don't know, I from siege.
Permanent, i hear people not wanting to kill people because they dont want counts...thats dumb that shouldn't be a worry
This without a doubt hinders pvp, this needs to be changed. We have to stop being afraid to change things here. Just because something has always been, doesn't mean it's the best way to do things. We have to stop getting in our own way and embrace change.
At first I was wondering if he was referring to some special stat loss for people in factions (they came about around the time I quit OSI). Even though by definition attacking a blue character is PvP, back when I played on OSI attacking a blue and general PvP were considered very different activities, at least with the players I associated with.
Well, attacking a blue is technically still player vs player. The difference between that and ( factions, order/chaos, guild war) is that it usually means attacking a distracted, unprepared, weaker templated characters who are likely to be carrying gold/wealth that will soon be yours vs someone who is geared and prepared and might actually kick your butt and take your stuff. Clearly you see why that is the preferred "pvp" type.
I love reading conversations about something people clearly know very little about, yet speak with such certainty, “omg we need to change this mechanic now because, basically, I don’t understand what I’m doing.”
I heard Mandevu is like the worst PVP player in UO. He once got killed by an NPC with 5 cats and a severe drinking problem.
If the idea of permanent stat loss has pvm player x thinking twice about killing/bullying pvm player y in order to drive that player away from a certain spot or to get his/her loot, then that is a good system and working exactly as it was originally intended. Removing stat loss doesn't do jack for pvp activity and it never has, neither on OSI nor on any other shard I've played, allowing reds to enter towns didn't do anything either. At that point the whole idea behind the system becomes pointless and you're just sporting your red name as a kind of fashion statement. This is one of those proposed changes where we actually know what is going to happen. Activity won't pick up but now 3box tamer x can just roll up to a solo player and kill him/her without any consequences. Also let's just say that there would be no more stat loss and action doesn't change, what's next? Does it hinder pvp if some players fear losing their weapons/armour? Yes? Well then maybe we should think about some sort of system for that? You can see where this is going and I know some people don't like the slippery slope argument but in this case it is appropriate in my opinion. Finally I just want to point out that there is Factions/Duels/OC/Warguilds, you can crim flag yourself and run around towns, you can chase pks/thieves and if all of those options combined are still not enough action, you can then murder nine people a day and still not be in stat loss.
Make a chaos guild, im running around almost 247 while im playing on my main character in Order. Im doing trades, pvp, basically everything on it. If you want to have quick pvp - there is your quick answer. Server needs more O/C people in general, if you want non-faction town pvp. Oh, blue non O/C people suddenly healing you? Happens, get over it
Tips out of the Sandbox - #1: Since O/C is more open and sometimes more forgiving than factions in general ive tried to establish a list with O/C guilds and what to await of them (also helps to find recruits, etc) http://uorforum.com/threads/the-big-order-chaos-thread.13247/ Make your own, and ill add it.
I liked your post simply because it is your original opinion and you could very well be correct. But if player X says he don't pk because of statloss, then who are we to tell him that's not the reason? I'm not saying that any of my opinions are right or wrong, I'm only willing to keep an open mind and try new things. If those new things prove to be unhelpful, then all we have to do is change them back. We aren't stuck with any particular way of doing anything, but for the life of me, I can't understand why people are so worried about trying something new.
