Just got ransacked by a group of raiders...As pissed as I am that i literally lost everything valuable that i had, which isnt very much either way. I will say that was perfect, caught me off guard and executed amazingly. Im pissed it sucks, and your cold blooded lol. but whatever Keep your heads on a swivel out there!
Rather not give up names honestly, not how i do things......happened so fast was frantically switching chars trying to bann the all from my house I have been macroing in my house last few days guess they staked me out, opened the door got rushed and killed and they literally took everything and anything of value in my house, nothing to crazy but all i had, resources ect. Kept gating ppl in i had no chance, caught me off guard got complacent. Sucks but ill live, just have to start over on everything lol.
There was a fishy smell actually lol Didn't even notice till I was picking up the pieces lol I guess I'll see my shit for sale soon. Hopefully I can farm enough to buy some of my shit back lol
CPU would like to donate 500k to your rebuild fund. Whenever you are available to receive it let one of us know.
good attitude. you should feel special that someone spent their precious time starting at the screen, watching you macro. what a waste of time for a bunch of players. what size house did you have?
If you would like me to show you how to set it up with some simple security so this NEVER happens again PM me and we can meet up.
If you know who they were, you can likely contact them and get some stuff back. Operations like this are all about taking everything and anything, as you saw, and filtering thru it later. They likely took a whole bunch of stuff they dont need or care for, but that you do. Reach out, see what deals can be made before it all goes public.
As others have said. 1. Great attitude man. People like you are what make this server and UO as awesome as it is. You lost pixels...nothing more yet had a awesome experience and learned alot. Yes it IS an awesome experience you will look back on this and laugh within a few weeks if you arnt already. You might even make some good friends over it! 2. If you were prepared and had your home secured you could have prevented this from ever happening. Read the house security guide here on the UOR forums, ask around in IRC, or pretty much just ask any of the "regulars' about how to secure your house so that you dont lose anything ever again. @Ron Jeremy has already volunteered and Id be willing to give you info as well if it helps. http://www.uorenaissance.com/categorylist/Housing http://uorforum.com/threads/renaissance-guide-to-home-ownership.6057/ Mad props to you Willy. This is how you handle your business man. /RESPECT
I, too, am curious about this. What type of house did you have? I am also wondering about what kind of visible wealth you had that would attract a dedicated group to stalk you like that... I think I would be flattered if they did that to me lol.
I don't think I had anything visible lol. Nothing really worth all that. But maybe they saw something I didn't
Most people have an experience similar to this early on the server. Go with me on a short journey here. There's an important lesson at the end. This is meant to be general, not specific to the OP. You left the young program (or you never used it because you're no pleb). You have some characters making a profit by provo, resource gathering, or just hitting stuff with a weapon. You're grinding along to fund a tamer or a large house or both. You either placed a small-medium sized home or have bought an affordable one through an auction. THEN BOOM. It happens. You lose something valuable (or valuable-ish). Even if it's not worth much, someone got the best of you. Your house wasn't perfectly secure. You left your door unlocked. You got Pk'd at a BAD time. A thief nabbed your anniversary stuff. You afk'd to go to the bathroom or answer the door or fell asleep. Whatever the reason, you lost something that you'd worked for. Someone capitalized on your mistake. Maybe you didn't know better. At this point, you have two choices: -You can give up. Someone made your items and therefore time go poof and you're unwilling to invest more time into a system that can screw you. There's a whole thread dedicated to acquiring other people's items. Show me the door to Trammel. -You can move on and learn from it. This game is deep. There is a lot to absorb, retain, and employ at a moment's notice. You can't anticipate everything. You can, however, control exactly what you risk and when. There is a HEAP of information on the forums and available from players on IRC. It's easy enough to die to NPC controlled monsters if you aren't careful (and even if you are). Facing another person with 700 skill points and possible allies (when you may not know they're even there until they all appear at the same time) is another matter entirely. You identify and target your mistakes to eliminate them in the future. To the OP: While I won't speculate on the mind of the first type of player, I will say that it sounds like you are the second type of player. Welcome (probably back) to UO and to UOR specifically. Know that you (and anyone) can ALWAYS control your risk:reward ratio. As others have said, there are ways to keep your house 100% secure. I'm glad you're here on the journey with us. You'll find every type of player here, though you'll get to know some of us better than others. I can tell you that the #1 thing you can do in game is to NEVER TRUST ANYONE. Especially when it comes to assumptions, such as "that blue guy who just ran by won't attack me." Those are famous last words as either they try to blue pk you, recall in with a red (or group of reds), or steal your plat coin). This being said, there are lots of fun player events and cooperative things we do here. Just never risk anything you can't stand to lose. My thief dies all the time. I lose a couple regs. People get in the main room of my house. I ban them. Everything is secure. Heck, I'll open a gate from inside. Please come in and get banned. I'm risking nothing but my basic character loadout at most. We all mess up, though. I lost a silver force weapon and a few hcoins in a graveyard during NoH just last week due to a combination of recklessness with NPC monsters and bad use of mechanics and three accounts. Also, I was being stalked by a legendary multi-hued thieffnel! To conclude, in my opinion, you almost have to be the second type of player to survive in UOR. If you are repeatedly reckless and refuse to get better while still having any semblance of attachment to your items/pixels, you will not have anything that I can consider fun in your (probably brief) time here. Some will find a niche that they can vanish into (fishing, house deco, etc). Myself, and many other second player types that I know here are along for the ride and welcome you to it. I'm over 900 days in now, and have loved every step of the journey (some more than others though, for sure). (edited for spelling)
