It is I Jimmy the Hand, here with an item of great rarity! So rare in fact that there is currently only one of it's like anywhere in the world!
I speak of a sword of great power, worthy of a place in history.

Here is your chance to be a part of that forever! Whether you're a collector of rare weapons, holiday trinkets or even run a museum, this item is one that you simply cannot pass up!

My fellow citizens of Sosaria, I present to you... Naegling!





As I would like all citizens to have a chance at owning this fine blade, I will be auctioning it off here.

This item is Naegling, a rare 1/250 chance drop from Dark Elf Knight's, rarer than previous years drops from the same mob. It is believed by Telamon (and me!) that

Currently, this is the only one of these items in the game, making it both a world first drop of the item as well as a 1/1 unique.



As such, I have set the starting bid at 5 million gold. Minimum increments of 250k gold.
I will not be accepting platinum, holiday coin or any mix other than cold, hard, gold!

The auction will follow the 48/24 rule:
If there is only one bidder, 48 hours after the bid was placed the auction will end and the sole bidder wins.
If there are multiple bidders, 24 hours after the last bid was placed the auction will end and the highest bidder wins.

I disagree if this event ends and no one else finds one and this item isn’t on repeat for next year it’s going to be worth a lot more than 2 million.

That’s a huge “IF”.

The cutoff window of availability doesn’t end when the event stops as these theoretically could drop during a scroll instance anytime between now and whenever the Christmas 2018 reward menu is released.

Knowing that this item has already dropped within the first week of the event would make any rare weapon collector, including myself, hesistant to pay a 2.5x markup based solely on the fact that it is 1/1 at this moment in time.

Will someone roll the dice and pull the trigger anyway hoping that another one doesn’t drop in the next 51 weeks? Maybe. This is an amazing find, and I congratulate @JimmyTheHand and hope he pulls 5mil on it however if your auction goes cold, I’m happy to negotiate.

I guess I should address this. You're absolutely right about the chance of an instance mob dropping another one down the track, definitely possible although from what I can tell there have been weapon(s) that remained 1/1.
Regarding price; I've started it there for a couple of reasons.

1. It is a 1/1 currently.
2. It's a rarer drop than the 1/200 chance drop from previous years and from other mobs, such as "the snowflake slayer". I've seen this has dropped for someone who is starting the bidding in their auction at 3 million. I had a look and there are 4 other snowflake slayers on the server, albeit different hues. So this price being lower than mine, reinforces my own price.
3. I also looked up and found that one of the two "the naughty slayer" weapons started at and sold, for 2 million. I feel that if another Naegling were to drop then yes the s/b could drop significantly, although as it is still rarer (1/250) than the 1/200 rare drops that apparently go for 2 mil, I'd be thinking 2.5-3 mil, which would bring it back in line with the rest of the non uniques.
4. It's a freaking purple lightsaber viking sword named after a weapon from Beowulf.

I am still quite new to the server and have little to no concept of the economics here, especially with big money, so I appreciate your input.

Great response. At the end of the day, we can all speculate until we’re blue in the face. In reality, the market will bear what someone is willing to pay. Whether that’s 5, 3, or something else will remain to be seen. Good luck.
