Although I am still far away from creating a GM Tinker I would like to bump this thread also! Tinker traps are ways too much fun to ignore theme! 3 1/2 years since this thread started and yet it seems as there is still no solution on the horizon?
Absolutely nothing new in that thread that people haven't been doing since 1998 anyway. You should delete the link it is against the rules.
I notice the soon(TM) in this quote, but now some years have passed with repeated attention to this important matter by several players. @Chris, we all know there's a ton of stuff you guys are working on etc, etc. But could we get some info on why it hasn't been implemented yet? There has been discussion on various ideas for traps in this thread, are these ideas not within the range of 'history perfected', or would you just like to have someone summarize it for you guys so you can make a decision (we've got quite the literature in this thread now, so it's understandable if you don't have the time to read up on it all etc, this could save u some time)? I believe many with me would gladly let this matter take priority over most other things.
Bump! It would be great to see tinkers get something useful, when stacked potions were added it severely reduced the demand of kegs, which were one of the primary uses of a tinker. Currently the only use I can think of is making tools or deco, giving tinkering a practical function is the buff it severely deserves!
It'll become a part of the BoD grind soon... not that I think it's a practical use of any crafting skill but hey... it beats being a pewter mug supplier.
Last night I was off to the side of the bank in Occlo and I was hidden I was just kinda taking a break, browsing the web or whatever I tab back to UOR and see some dude's been creeping on me. You know when you're hidden but they're right on top of you, you know they know you're there? Well, I type out a little rp banter I pop out of hiding as I say, "Piss off mate". Well doesn't this dude then proceed to drop a wooden box down in front of me. For context, I've just been back to UO for 3 weeks or so, having been away for like 8 years. That box had like 35 items in it and I was awfully curious but I remembered something about trapped boxes being able to 1shot you so I didn't open it. The dude scooped it up and went off to play wit someone else It's such a damn sinister thing to do but it's harmless because people learn very very quickly that reckless curiosity can kill you in UO. Anyways. I really enjoyed that little interaction but now I'm really sad to know that opening the box wouldn't have had any real consequences at all. I hope this mechanic gets some TLC
chain purple potions + pack llamas = UOR roadside IED's. People would be leaving them in the Ocllo town square and blowing people up! @Felucca the only special thing about trapped boxes right now is that you CAN blow people up IF they take an axe to the box themselves
