Anytime I attempt to run the client on my new rig, "UO_Renaissance_Client_Full.exe is not a valid Win32 application." I'm running Windows 7 64bit, are there any suggestions or tips that might allow me to install this client properly?
Runs perfectly fine on my Win7 x64 machine. The message sounds alot like a corrupted file. My best guess is to re-download the file !
I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit and I'm unable to install. Same message. "UO_Renaissance_Client_Full.exe is not a valid Win32 application." I've tried running in every compatibility mode available, even Win98/Me and Win95, no dice. Run as administrator. I tried the archived installers, same issue. Help! I want to play! ~Lethius
That would be me Would I know thee by another name? I tried a few times, have the issue with the old client and the latest one. The patch installer works, but I need the client first. ~Lethius
Are you by chance running any anti-virus software? If so, which? I've heard reports of some AV software having issues with the installer on irc.
I'm running Avira, I tried disabling it, but I still get the error. I have an old Windows XP machine that it did install on, but I'll have to run some Ethernet cable this weekend (or maybe buy a wireless adapter) My new home office currently has only wireless, my teenage son has taken over the basement where my old office was... Soon to be in Sosaria once again...
try http://www.uorenaissance.com/downloads/UO_Renaissance_Client_old.exe see if that works, if it does then update with this http://www.uorenaissance.com/downloads/UO_Renaissance_Patch.exe
Did you redownload the file after Avira was disabled? The package on the site is definitely a valid package -- especially if it installs on your XP machine. It really seems like some application on your Win7 box is blocking installation. Feel free to get on IRC sometime when you have a bit of free time and shooting me a message, I'm glad to help you out in a more interactive medium than a forum post as well.
Corruption is correct, that message usually indicates an incomplete download or a corrupted download.
That was it My Avira real-time protection was corrupting the download. I disabled it, downloaded, and it installed. Thanks for the solid advice, cheers!
