Merry Christmas! Event Updates! The Dark Magic Event returns! To learn more about the event click here! - Designed two new instances for this years event. The White Witches Lair, and Krampus's Lair for Naughty Children. - Each of the new instances is a massive two stage dungeon with new monsters, new challenges and should be considered extremely difficult. - Note: While these instances have an ironman system, they were not designed or tested with the expectation that someone can solo them. - Designed 30+ new creatures to be included in these new instances. These creatures will primarily spawn in the instances and with a few exceptions the overworld. - The two new instances will allow players 105minutes to complete them, compared to 60 minutes allowed during the existing instance. - In order to obtain the scrolls for these new instances players must successfully complete one of the current classic events and loot the final chest. - Each instance has a 20% chance to reward you with a scroll for one of the new instances. - You will also have a very small chance to obtain one of the new scrolls when killing one of the new creatures during an scripted overworld event. - Note: Event scrolls do not drop in the instances themselves. For more information about the Christmas Event check the event thread here Christmas Reward Store Updates - Added a variety of holiday lanterns to match past holiday colors. - Added frozen lamp posts for players to use for home decor. - Added frozen suits of armor for players to use for home decor. - Allowed suits of armor addons to retain their deed hue when placing or deeding. - Treasure maps obtained during holiday events like christmas and halloween when taking place in trammel will no longer be linked to the trammel map. Misc - Resolved a problem with the world alert system not reporting correct information to our moderator bot. - Resolved a problem with the Nu'jelm guard zone due to some bad math. Note: This does not affect housing in the area, just allows us to remove a temporary region. New Slayers Given the addition of drastically more monsters that tie into our Christmas event we have expanded the slayer system to include 4 new types of holiday slayers. These slayers will only drop from opposition holiday creatures and will not be part of any loot pool outside of holiday events. They will also only be effective against creatures in holiday events. The existing slayer system was not designed to support our extensive holiday additions. Elf Slayer - Effective against elves, reindeer, bad santa, the grinch and other monsters commonly found in the Hidden Village and Santa's Lair event - These slayers will drop when defeating monsters commonly round in the Frozen Continent and Ice Fortress events. Dark Elf Slayer - Effective against dark elves, spirits, and other monsters commonly found in the Frozen continent and Ice Fortress events. - These slayers will drop when defeating monsters commonly found in the Hidden Village and Santa's Lair events. Frost Bane - Effective against Frost warriors, the white witch and other monsters found in the Lair of the White Witch instance. - These slayers will drop when defeating monsters commonly found in Krampus's Lair Flame Bane - Effective against flame warriors, the anti-reindeer, Krampus and other monsters found in the Krampus's Lair instance. - These slayers will drop when defeating monsters commonly found in the White Witches Lair Note: The White Witch, Krampus, Frost Knight and Flame Knight have a very rare chance of dropping an extremely powerful weapon. Harrower System - Found and fixed a problem where the Harrower results did not properly expire allowing players to keep the scoring gump up to spy on later Harrower attempts. - Players will have 15 minutes to review their scores after the harrower is successfully killed. My notes are missing the player who reported this, however you are due a bug report award if you want to contact me. Public Moongates - Updated the horrible trammel public moongate prompts to something that we feel would be more applicable on OSI in 1999. - While the classic method of checking the phases of the UO Moon using a spyglass(did that ever work?) to determine where the gate will go is a classic mechanic. - It is also extremely tedious for players and just results in people hopping the gate 20 times to get lucky on the right destination. - Rather than use this system we were able to use the art available in the client and match the gumps to the same look for when you pick a town to start in. - Dangerous towns like Buc's Den are colored in red, and Ocllo is green to signify the new player program. - Players can either click the gem on the map or the gem next to the name on the right side of the menu to travel to that town. - Players can also now select Serpents Hold, Cove and Nu'jelm as travel destinations. - Added 11x11 moongate regions to the locations selected for the Cove and Serpent's Hold moongates. Note: All existing restrictions for using these gates are still in place.
There’s a difference from the last post in the new slayers that isn’t clear. Will Repond no longer work?
There is no change to how/what reponds work against. But I will not be adding more content to the repond category going forward. At least until a larger review of slayers, what they are effective on and what drops them is undertaken. A
Wow, awesome! Will the scrolls from previous years be updated to this loot table? Didn't know if say my blue ones from last year (or maybe even 2015??) Will drop the slayers for green ones or red ones?
So, my "a new lute of Elf Slaying" that dropped off an Elf not a Dark Elf works on Elves and not Dark Elves?
Spyglass, not sextant. It did work but even back in-era most people hopped moongates 50 times rather than use one.
Thanks, I will update my comments on that. Been so long I could not remember which it was. Hopefully the new changes are something that still feels like something we could have seen in 1998. I always wondered why they used that for selecting towns when starting on the server, but not for anything else ingame.
