I know that exact feeling. My wife is usually working on my days off (Sun/Mon). The indignant 12 y/o within makes my blood boil when I'm asked what I did that day. I'm an adult damn it and if I want to not bathe, consume caffeine and sit on my arse all day clicking pixels, by golly, I'm gonna do it!! I mean, yes dear, I'm making pasta for dinner and just have to run and get some sourdough bread and a bottle of wine. I trust you'll be home soon to enjoy it with me?
Whew, I thought I was alone. The only thing I put in documentation are who gave me which bods towards hammers.
When you don't have internet at home for two days and you have UO withdrawls eagerly anticipating going to work so you can get that log in fix...
You mean you don't have a second wired Internet connection and backup to that via phone tethering just in case? I've gone without power for a couple of days and I've gone without heat but I wouldn't survive without Internet. -Wil
When you spend half your workday writing a script to scrape the UO:R Bestiary into a database, so you can search for melee-only monsters that give better than minimum-90 gold.
The results are in his post you silly wise! Although it's odd that blood elemental show up in the results...
I've always thought it odd that Silver serpents yield less gold than Giant Serpents. Wouldn't you think a Silver would have bested better and therefore richer heroes? Yet despite a run-in with a serpent I find myself with little to show. I guess perhaps Silver Serpents digest better than giants?
You expect me to read a whole page of names and numbers and make deductions and conclusions? whoa whoa whoa buddy. Im the internet generation i want just the facts in hd wireless streamed high speed directly into my cerebral cortex
SS is in the Bestiary as "Melee, Poisonous" so it didn't show up in the list. I was actually going for that, I didn't want to have to deal with DP's left and right... I was curious about this in the first place because my brother and I have a couple dexxers that it's been surprisingly fun (but too easy) to mow down Earth Ele's with, so I was wondering what the "next step up" was. Neither character has very much resist or magery yet, so mana dumpers (especially a group of them) can really beat us up. I was surprised to see Blood Ele's in the list as well - do they not use magic? According to the Bestiary they do about twice the damage per hit as an Earth Ele and have about 4x the HP, but carry a shiiitload more loot. Snow Ele's look like the next direct step up but I'm not sure where to find a consistent spawn of them. If there's interest in this kind of information I could probably put together a rough little site for it. Or offer to work with UO:R staff to simply make the existing Bestiary a little more searchable (a more ideal solution, but I don't have very much time to offer overall). These would also both contingent on UO:R staff's approval of this - though the info I'm using is all publicly visible, I'm not really sure how much a detailed searchable database fits the game spirit they're going for.
