nah i just thought it was a good idea and those popped in my head...im saving for a blessed one sortof and will work more toward it soonish i like the idea more to carry multiple runes (runebook)that would be safe than just one. but the just one could be made more accessible to newer players....and give them a safety recall when they are in the middle of nowhere/ up shitscreek without a paddle return home.
Fix armored robes and cloaks? Then add other armored clothing options but cap it at two pieces, to allow for style options.
How bout using plat to stir up some pvp? In order to prevent farming plat thru this, the bounty would convert to a platinum value once a PK/Red has a bounty of XXX amount of gold. This could be tied to a weekly timer. The problem is how to keep their friends or guildies from collecting their bounties. Or make a possible random plat reward for a red's head. Give the red/PK opportunity to gain XX amount of plat for actively fighting and not dying over a certain period of time. Faction or War raids that keep score over a period and the victor wins plat over a period of time. Something along the lines of your faction points = a particular amount of plat and then resets after you collect. Just random thoughts on the fly. Sure there may be something viable in this mess lol
PKs already have so many advantages over PvMers? I really can't think of any. The PKers I normally see kinda suck. I think I have been killed like once?? Maybe... and I think I was semi-afk killing WWs farming an Albino They dont have good mechanics anymore... at least the same 10 I have encountered
How about something for stone built homes to change the hue of the bricks. Sst, keep , fort etc . I'd love to have my house darker then the standard agreeable grey .
Well I've been told by folks that are considered good/decent at PvP that many of the PKs are no good. I cannot comment on that really. But here are the advantages as I see them: - PK likely has a PvP template, loaded with pots, wands, has element of surprise, is likely more experienced at PvP in general, and can wait until the PvM player is busy with MOB aggro to attack. They are mentally prepared for a fight and can start the fight whenever they are ready. PvMer may have some of these things, but likely few to none. The PK can legally burn counts on three free accounts 24/7, which was illegal and enforced on OSI when I played (Chessy shard). You could have multiple accounts but nobody I know did because of cost. Multiple accounts also allows you to do things like more easily scout hidden on a blue at farming spots. Perma-red status is also not enforced so no worries about just totally surprising unsuspecting players until you turn red (oops) and then just wait to go blue again. This is not a criticism of the shard and I'm not saying anything needs to change (although it would be nice to see perma-red enforced which I believe is on the list) however for these reason I argue that PKs have it easy enough and I do not support anything that could make it easier to blue PK. But what I support doesn't really matter, what matters is what Chris thinks is best for the shard.
Outside the few top PvPers on this server that mostly run planned faction fights or planned group fights, I have seen no talent. I have encountered groups of 2, 3, 4, 5, and even once was attacked by 6 folks (4 reds, 2 blues). On almost every occasion I was scouted. As an experienced PvMer, that dabbled into pvp and pk for a while, I can tell you now that no "tamer" shows up to check on the WW spawn with "Rude" as their karma/fame. No PvMer pops in to bloods without their dragon. Tamers, without their dragons in tow, at titan valley, are over by the mare spawn. If someone blue shows up at your spawn, it is time to leave. PERIOD! If you leave when a blue scouts you, then you don't get PKed. Macros. I have a macro called Exit. It is simple. Cast recall, target rune/runebook, pause 2sec. I put that ho on !Loop. These half ass PKs, even in a group, are too dumb to let para be their first spell, and miss me every time. Weaken, harm, etc. I'm gonna be able to get out. Tip for half ass PKers running in groups of 3+: If one of you gets reflected on a para, the other 2 can still get me.
I would be interested in lots more house deco and dye colours. I miss the 'special' tub from OSI because it had some great hues. Not a fan of implementing more blessed items though.
I recall in early days... A group of us were on test placing sandstone & marble keeps etc. Marble didnt look good btw but the sandstone was sweet. I think a limited expansion after careful review would be great. For example a small marble patio, a sandstone 2 story workshop, a stone villa(maybe). Basically a limited expansion on house build materials not types. I wouldnt want to see marble castles and forts i dont think (too much white)
The L is quickly becoming my favorite house. And I think a stone or sandstone L would be pretty darn cool.
Hue matching tool, like the deco tool, but when used on an item, creates a 5 charge dye tub in your pack of that hue. Only usable on items of clothing, not cloth and not capable of matching anni hues. I just want a 1508 hue outfit, currently there is only 1 item of clothing on the server with a 1508 hue....and it's a half apron.... But that would be a nice plat sink in my opinion. Plat goes in, cloth comes out, new outfits are created and sold & traded. Or something that allows you to match the hues of some of the BOD reward sandals or masks however it could be manifested. Another idea I have is an anvil of the Phoenix, hammer of the Phoenix and Phoenix ingots. I made an image for that one to wet your whistle on. I remember there being an incredibly short lived bug back in the day where you could smelt phoenix armour and get the ingots and there being a legend that someone, somewhere, had a phoenix katana. EDIT: DOES NOT CREATE BLESSED ITEMS! Stick a big ol plat price on those though, 1000 plat on the anvil, 500 on the hammer and the ingots at 10 plat each.
Oh they aren't blessed in my fantasy....that would be incredibly stupid. I don't think Phoenix armour was blessed back in the day either was it? You had to get an item bless deed on it.
I've always felt the problem with the plat system is that plat is too easy to acquire, not that there are too few ways to use it. I suppose the problem now is that there are too few ways to use it since there is way too much in the world, but you could try to stem the flow of plat and then add in more ways to get rid of it. Maybe decrease how much plat is acquired from some events, or from welfare plat. If possible you could implement a system of decreasing returns for constantly farming a particular event.
On the platinum value thingie: *ninja'd by Melochabre!!* I think the biggest problem people have with the current platinum system is that the risk of acquiring platinum is too low. For the blessed rune idea: If you want runebooks to be desired, then it should be the "bulk discount." I like the idea of newbrunes, and of them being newbied instead of blessed. A runebook is worth 250 plat. That would make each rune slot worth just 15.6 plat per. 30 plat per newbrune seems fair at just under twice the cost. On pet bonding, and increased pet slots: This is part of UO:R, it has been a part of UO:R for a LONG time, and suddenly removing pet bonding would probably be the downfall of the server. All that considered, I still think it should be done. I think we should go back to the oldschool rules where there wasnt pet control slots, or pet bonding. You could still ride on a 7xmare with three 7xdragons in toe, but when they die, they die. This system should be phased in slowly allowing players with existing pets to get some final use out of them as well as say farewell. Peculiar Meat could stay in as a sort of super strong pet buff like a permanent +30 to all skills or something. Im not to savvy on the particulars. This all goes back to that risk vs reward argument. Tamed and Trained Dragons are SUPER powerful. The risk involved with these should be losing them and the time invested in them if youre not smart about it, but its not. (C'mon, it happened in Game of Thrones and I know SOME of you cried!!!) You can even pay a paltry sum of gold to teleport it to you if it gets lost. Its one of the most, if not THE most secure investment of both time and money EVER. You have to be SUPER dumb to lose a bonded pet. This is already the reality for slayer weapons. The reward in using a vanq-slayer is that it is SUPER powerful. The risk involved is in losing it when you make a mistake. The Risk/Reward ratio scales with each weapon on how powerful it is. A Silver Maul of Ruin, provides both less reward (not as good) and less risk (big deal when lost) over a Silver Broadsword of Force. Pets should be no different. There should be some risk involved and there isnt. The risk/reward ratio should scale with pets as well. While at least TRYING to stay on topic, any platinum reward that helps bless any items the provide a direct competitive edge would be a mistake. Blessing weapons would only make things worse. TL;DR I vote to: -Make platinum hard to come by in large amounts, but relatively easy to come by in small amounts. -Remove pet bonding and doom the server -if added, have newbrunes cost at the least 30 plat to be just under 2x the sost
One last thing, I like the plat only slot machine: Gambling has always been the best money taker EVER second only to prostitution. ...and the plat to remove short counts thingie: Rich people pay to play. This is literally natural law when it comes to gaming. Removing shorts only lessens stat loss. Depending on the character it might be MORE expensive than training back up. This means its mostly paying platinum for real life time, this is what platinum should be about IMO!!!
What about, making blessed runes cost 16 plat each, and when you have 16 of them you can then get a runebook scroll off a reward vendor, simmilar to the zoo keeper scroll, where you then select the 16 runes and turn them in to the reward vendor and he gives you a blessed runebook.
I'd be ok with this. As long as the rune does not have the capability to store recall scrolls/charges. That should be reserved for runebooks alone.
Totally. It also removes the concept of just having a few as it gives you a goal to achieve and makes it so that if your'e needing some cash you can sell one as there's always going to be players looking to add to the collection to fill the scroll. It doesnt make it a permanent stand alone item. No one tames blood thirsty bulls to just have a blood thirsty bull, they tame it to add it to their zoo keeper scroll with the goal of running it or selling it - ONCE its complete
