    Hello Uor,

I have just got the last .1 at and now have 100 taming. This is my first tamer. Yes, I did macro some of it you'd have to be a masochist not to but I was also curious about how long the old school OSI grind would take. Well, now I have an idea and it is not something I would repeat (I know Dagger like the back of my hand).

I would like a shot at a nightmare. I have been looking without success. I know they usually get snapped up in minutes. I don't care about the stats on the first I just want a chance to tame it. All I ask is if you already have a stable full of mares and see a spawn to reply to this or message Vincent in irc and you would have my sincere gratitude. If that isn't enough I'm willing to offer a bribe/compensation for any info that leads to a successfull tame. I have a pouch with 10 holiday coins that will be all yours if it makes a difference. Lastly, this tamer is DEX based so the Wind spawn is not a possibility.

Thanks for looking, have a nice day.

lol Back in the day , it took months to max out a tamer. Was best to go to Dagger with a friend and take turns taming white wolves. At a certain point would only gain on second tames. Big frustrating, was when the wolf would go near a building and be hidden. LOL

Check out guides, believe there is one on Nightmare spawns. I've not got a high level tamer, so not sure if the guide is outdated, or not.

Good luck with your mission. :)

PS. Nightmares have dragon blood. Killer flame strike . Also when they were first introduced to UO, they were far over powered. One Nightmare could take out an entire guild. LOL, seen it happen. The mighty gods ended up having to tone them down.

Good luck I’ve been checking spawns. Only 5 spawn on the whole server in 24 hrs and some people have the spawn times down so they know when to show up to scoop it up.

Unless you get real lucky you’re not even going to see a wild one. I’m just going to Farm my ass off and buy near perf ones eventually.

Thanks. Good luck in your search as well.

I have been ghosting the spawns but my timing just hasn't been good and without high enough magery I only have access to four of five spawns. I also am not quite sure where the so called small room is in Terathan and I'm reduced to using 50 track to search the general area around the two bridges.

I know I will end up buying some for better stats but I would like to tame the first one myself. From what I can find the rate was somewhat random as far as time of spawn during each 24 hr. and a spawn at one location did not preclude a spawn at different location but I don't know how accurate that is.

@Vincent Blackshadow just check spawns regularly for a couple of days. If you can do it in some odd time outside of US peak hours, that'd probably increase your chances. I found my first mare after checking all mare spawns for 3-4 days (not constantly, of course, maybe twice a day). Later on I found a few more mares after a comparable number of attempts.

I thought they changed how the nightmares spawn in T2A recently. e.g. more often, more random?

    PATCH NOTES:
    Nightmare Spawns
    - Expanded the spawn area of Nightmares slightly to ensure that players have to actively search for the spawns to find them.
    - This will make the spawn process less vulnerable to camping and require some active involvement by players.
    - This change only affects the Cyclopean Warrior Spawn Location, and the Oasis Location.
    - The other nightmare spawns have a sizable spawn area and remain unchanged.

    MY NOTE(S):
Nightmare spawn seems relatively unchanged and still dominated by the few who have time to camp it.

If you have available playtime you can tame mares.

It takes 5 minutes to recall to each spot and use tracking for animals.

Only two bridges spawn pretty much require you to track more than the default entrance as it's the only one with more animals nearby to fill up your tracking window so you need to move around.

Get gm tracking on a char, put the 4 spawns on it that you can access since you can't do wind. Have 50 magery on that char to recall place to place. When you're near your pc log in every 30 or 40 min and recall to the spawns, track and recall to the next. If you can check 10 or 12 times throughout the day close to those time frames, you'll likely find yourself rolling in mares.

If you can only do one pass once a day, you likely will not.

I haven't tamed mares in a while, but when I did it was pretty simple to pull 25 to 35 a month if I stuck to it.

And when I decide to tame more I usually spend a few days of being dry til I see a few and lock those timers in and can keep catching them til I decide on laying off taming them again.

Everyone tries to say you can't do it because others have it locked down.. that just isnt true, invest your time in it and like most things you will succeed.

I appreciate the replies and info.

My current understanding is that spawn in Cyclops Valley is the far NW corner area and the Oasis the SE area. If this has changed is it possible for them to spawn anywhere inside Cyclops Valley or Oasis or around the outside?

Would you mind sharing where you saw these?

Also, does anyone know the general area of the Terathan spawn? I have been looking around the small rooms and waterfall area outside and not the lower levels, thanks.

Is the timer close to 24 hours, or 12-36 hours as some reference?

Thanks for the offer. I may take you up on it as it would be nice to learn from someone who knows the boundries.

I will also start training track to GM to be able to increase the detection radius.
