So I was camping for a Mare since I was working anyway and refuse to pay such a ridiculous amount for a mount, when all of a sudden the name appears on my journal. I got all panicky and giddy so I start running around to begin the process of taming. I have watched countless tamers run in and out checking if it has spawned yet so i was in a rush. To my dismay the Nightmare is no where to be found. I did not see a singe other player and this all happened in seconds. It is impossible that the Mare was tamed and taken with in this amount of time. SO which leads me to believe. Was this a bug or a compromised individual with special permissions that have the ability to perform such acts? Screen shot of Journal below.
I've thought about that but i don't recall the name being blue. Or maybe it was and I am just delirious from lack of sleep. Either way it all worked out.
I was gonna leave this sentence alone, but it's really bothering me. This message isn't just for you but for anyone, especially new players who don't know how hard Telamon works to make sure his staff and Counselors aren't corrupt. Please do not go straight to this assumption, especially not on a public post. Our staff is not corrupt, and even if you suspect that a GM might be, you need to take that to Telamon/Chris in private, and not post it on the forums, where anyone (including people who might be browsing our forum looking to see if they might want to join the server) can read it. Even if you meant this as a joke, this is not a funny joke. Combating staff corruption is a serious thing for Telamon, and for those of us who have been here for a while and are dedicated to UOR. Now that I've said that, I'll leave it alone.
It doesn't seem suspicious given how naming characters works. You thought it was a nightmare, but that was just a bad dream... I'll show myself out.
I highly second Kirby's input. The staff will help you if you want to do something for the server, such as host a event for everyone, usually the favor is in the form of event named statues for the participants, sometimes they will spawn limited amount of temporary monsters at the site of the event. But allowing a player whose character is red to show up blue, or any other color; nope...won't happen, even if you donate huge amounts of money to the server. Money cannot buy Telamon/Chris's principles. I've been here since the Alpha test for this server and have known Telamon/Chris before that on a different server. So, think I know how he operates the server.
On another point, a person with the ability to move or delete a nightmare would also have the ability to spawn one or to alter stats of an existing nightmare . I'm trying to convey how obvious and unnecessary it would be for anyone with GM accounts to need to do such a thing. Most likely a different player, however if you need a nightmare hit me up on IRC later and I'll give you one, no charge.
Hence why it was in question format and not a statement. I know there has been bugs before in regards to the Mares. Like everyone is encouraged to do, I checked and asked the forums first. after being awake over 24 hrs and staring at monitors, you may not notice the finer details such as if a name appears blue or gray. Either way no harm no foul. I was helped out by an awesome individual, so many Thanks to Pirul.
There are guilds that have the ENTIRE spawn of mares down to a science. When I was in TnT they had guild members at each spawn location and when a mare popped, it was notified in guild chat completely automated. The notification in guild chat even indicated the type of mare (long mane etc) People make a living out of this. Get on the ball. It's not GM's, it's people working together playing the game better than you're used to
I know of 3 people who hunt mares quite a bit, and they get several each week, at least during weeks that they have time to hunt. All 3 do it solo. One of them told me all it takes is just checking the spawn locations many times during the day. Ive seen new tamers stumble upon a mare and ask us for help taming it. When I have time to play I'd much rather do other things, so I just buy my mares. I haven't done the math, but it seems that in the time it takes them to find what many tamers would consider a "pretty good" mare, I could have farmed enough gold to buy it.
