My name is Jimmy the Hand and I approve this... well most of this stuff tbh.

There are most certainly rumors about! RP things, Event things, Content things, not sure about dynamic things.

I do enjoy random dynamic content, I'm a huge proponent of as much procedural as can be gotten away with! (Assuming parameters are solid).

Often the bother with this type of content in games is the limited pools of data to generate content from. This can lead to tiny variations that are pointless repetition disguised as 'different'.
We also on UO have limitations on how the map works, items on screen counts/in regions, etc.

There could be room for a mix though... Say, dynamic content, generated from pools of data, tweaked and adjusted by helpful volunteer types with touches of appropriate lore for engaging the community per day/week/period of lore/other defining start and finish periods.

With a strong RP and Dungeon Master background, I'm also a fan of semi or fully unique oneshot adventurers, totally out of the blue. Typically short and slightly catered to whomever is present at the time / finds the talking squirrel.

Finally, I of course love extended campain style scenarios, where over a month, or multiple, where there are weekly/fortnightly things that will happen regardless of which players are in attendance. This develops the sense of a persistent world, always alive and changing.

It's these sorts of thing that has players post little write ups and develop memories. E.g. "This is the spot I killed that mad wizard that was turning all the bankers in to chairs, I was so happy to bank my rare drop!" (Idk, he was mad)

To close; indeed. The world can most definitely be more alive, with ongoing stories, lore developing, characters dying, events unfolding, being resolved or... say it's not so! Quests failed!
We would definitely see more vets, regulars and new players alike :)

    +1 for cool stuff

While I don't have totally vacant houses, I do have 7 properties in total, 3 of which I pretty much never use. So I am admittedly one of the problem people.

I agree with a reduction in how many properties one person should be able to own. I would prefer one per account. This is a change that must come from the rules of the server, however. Myself, other hoarders, and future hoarders will not change out of the goodness of our hearts. It's been talked about before, but maybe a new discussion/campaign could make serious changes. I say let's start a new thread and come in armed with a proposal.

    Here is my proposal:
#makesosariagreenagain. You don't require staff to make the change.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
Player run event. The Greensday event.
The day everyone drops an 'empty' property.
Have it held shortly after the anniversary for higher player count.
(Or the first day/weekend of spring, alongside of the lucky charms day events)

    * benefits: You weren't using the land as it as, now you dont have to refresh it.
You might get new land through the land roulette! You might meet new people or exchange gameplay styles over time.
Or maybe you just save that new land instead for the next greensday event!

*** MILLION's in placement value... *** depends on who what where when and how. (Priceless memories!)
    * green robes for people with less than three properties or new folk to the shard
    * blue robes for people that are going to assist people in green robes
    * red robes for people who are just there to kill people (totally welcome)
    * death robes for people that were unsuccessful during the greensday event!
    --
    * Runes are placed on the ground in a circle, in corresponding regional locations via the UOAM, and map directions.
    * Gates are made - chaos ensues, spicy moments are created, land is claimed, relations are formed, game-play (what? game - play?!)

    * Saplings - gather your house deeds of different shapes and forms and we wish you luck! Bloom where you're planted!
    --------------------------------------------------------------------

    * The young might actually drop their status to go place a house, allowing them to get off of ocllo's teet, as sweet as that milk is.

    * They could find space for themselves while not having to rely on the 'generosities' of others. They could dream their own dream, or you could start fresh!
    * There are no leagues or seasons really in UOR, this would give you that new server rush for house placing, once a year, instead of once period.

The housing bots ... what would they do!? they wouldn't see it coming and crap their ass.
The reds would roam that day having their fun, some places might be contested some might not, you never know what happens during the greensday event!

*You could look forward to the next greensday event!
*You could even become renowned for being the one who dropped 'that' land during the greendsday event last year!
*** trophies awarded for the top three most interesting/controversial/contested properties dropped *** (imagine having that trophy and being number one!)

"do you remember what SOF did during the last greensday event!? It was awesome when TB, PWN and 'S' showed up with a couple of those 'O^S guys and put up a fight!? It was all fun and games until CPU and 'A' showed up! Yeah, well.. did you see what those dudes from 'cA' did..? I can't believe I found a tower spot but it was surrounded with llamas, we had to cast about twenty meteors to clear that mess!"

"pretty much all of TnT showed up with five mares and just roffallkilled everyone"
"i died eight times and got nothing, lul, nice event fucktard"
    "selling house location 20 mil"
"its like starting on a new server that has an awesome playerbase"
    "potato"
    "Get off my lawn"

    ------------
Oh' the times to be had during the greensday event I tell you.

I would say if you are going to drop a good property, try to find a noob who wants to pace something there even as a placeholder, or give it to them for deed. Otherwise you're gonna get some jackass to snag the spot and flip it on the forums.

    Yup.

I leave runes for places that have dropped in Occlo but I appreciate that most people don't want to drop the young tag to recall to a random spot that says "free patio spot".

I've placed several "Snotels" though, I lock down gold on the steps and then co own a new player, they're then free to farm and add gold to the pile till they hit deed cost and it's theirs.

They do well. Mostly in cool spots in moonglow that drop as it's a good island to move too after Occlo.

-platinum reward system for dexxers hunters.
-cast spells while armed with staffs(mace mages).
-decrease dexterity loss for the plates.
-damage bonus progressive on weapons according the ores.

This is for me... just some things that will make me spent time in some new projects...

I'd play a lot more if I could afford the time to do so. Real life is so busy I have small windows during which I can reliably play. So much fun stuff to do, so little time to do it. So there is nothing about the server itself or lack of activities that keeps me from playing, it's just time limitations.

I do know for a fact that many people avoid going out into the real world doing peak times due to the risk of encountering groups of PKs. Yes, this is Felucca, yes it is to be expected, and nobody is saying we should switch on Trammel or that the PKs have ruined the game and should all be banned/nerfed. But I do think that small improvements made by the players themselves on both sides could help get more people out:
    - PK victims can learn to accept being PKd as part of the game, and put whatever loss they experience in perspective (if you farm for an hour and get PKd once or twice, so long as you banked often your net gain should be far greater than if you just sat in your house in safety).
    - PK victims can take measures to be able to get away from PKs more reliably (escape macros, basic survival skills, other techniques to keep PKs at a distance long enough to escape)
    - PK victims can get over the shock and trauma of dying, and that simple measures can be taken to recover quickly (an alt can gate for a rez, pets are easy to retrain and shouldn't be expected to stay at 7xGM, etc.).
    - PKs should realize that their victims don't always see things the way they do, and no amount of lecturing about Felucca is going to change that. If someone is obviously a newbie, it is a jerk move to dry loot them and leave them stranded in a dungeon.
    - PKs should realize that sometimes they eating their "seed crop."
    - Whether you like it or not, there are many people who play here and would actually prefer the trammel rule set. Of course that is blasphemy and AFAIK there is no movement or desire whatsoever to go this direction, but nonetheless these people exist and choose to play here because this is the best UO server, not because they love Felucca. So when you PK them, keep in mind that they aren't necessarily having a fun time, but they tolerate it because they enjoy playing here.
    - When you encounter a clueless newbie (whether you are a PK who just killed them or a PvM trammie who hates PKs), teach them some basic lessons I mentioned above.

@Leopold Anti-PK sqauds that are not running those same PK's would be great to see.

This was a feature of all great shards back in the day. Of course there was typically only one account per player. Red's actually ran with risk, Blue's would band together.

Three accounts however, could and should feed in to the ease of which this can be done.
How easy it would be for the average vet or frequent player to have an honorable character ready to roll out at the report of murderous bastards slaughtering innocents. You dont even need to logout your Dragon Lord to do this.

I'd additionally welcome similar regarding thieves. I don't think I've ever been hunted. No attempt to track me down to my stash of goodies pilfered from you good citizens.

@Erza Scarlet Marshall the Knights! :p

As said though, it all breaks down when the players behind the Anti-PK's are the same ones behind the PK's, laughing and joking as they decide who should play cop versus their robber.

All of this said, there's no reason to not have both 'good' and 'evil' characters. Some type of dedication to a group that trumps the other should be encouraged though. e.g. I'd happily fight the good fight against murderous evildoers. Very unlikely to see me helping unearth a thieves den though.

I met a green haired man that enjoined pking, sitting on a bench under a tree. That was his gameplay here, a murderous social cannibal.
He said he was in refresh mode because he was being pk'd too much.

    I laughed on the inside.

    * 4 second Stun punch is the dumbest addition to the game.
You all already know how many options there could be, but this.. this is the option everyone chooses because its the dumbest skill in the game.

House bans should be on a timer.

Especially since most bans are the result of a macro.

PKs have an ability to recover from stat loss etc over time and can then return to the areas where they can play in their preferred style.

I stop by one merchant shop and lift a wand or sneak into a house and am identified by Razor (ban nearest gray) and suddenly I'm no longer able to play in that area for eternity.

I'd play more if I was able to log in and play the character I enjoy most, but I'm unable to go to areas and interact with other players in populated areas.

    ______________________________________

Property banning should be on a timer.

Because if one character gets banned it bans all characters in the account. And it also bans all characters on an account from using vendors at that property

So set a real world timer on it, like one month or two months.

    Taken from this thread: http://uorforum.com/threads/thieves.30849/#post-301429

    ______________________________________

I think thieving is okay, it does have its quirks and you definitely need to have some finesse in your craft if you want to be successful.

Walking up to a random person at a bank and trying to lift something is a crude way to try and play the class.

Most things take observation and timing, something to be developed over the course of your exploits.

Eventually its not so much the items you take that will bring you satisfaction in playing the class but the proper/successful execution of your plan.

If we are to nit pick at something I would like to address house bans. I think they should be on a timer.

Thieves need to have access to areas where people gather; shops, homes, casinos ;) and other places people congregate.

Unfortunately a permanent ban from these type of establishments really limits our opportunities to play alongside/with the community.

Homeowners should definitely be able to ban a player, which should keep them on their toes always searching for the person in the shadows but it shouldn't be a one shot deal.

Sure if a thief is found they can be banned but the ban should only last, lets say a month of real time or game time. This gives the homeowner peace of mind for a time from that specific thief but they need to know that they don't get to just forget about them forever.

Especially since players are able to create macros to enter homes/doors, detect hidden and auto ban with Razor etc.

I don't think we need to make it easier for steals to be successful but I do think there shouldn't be a mechanic where an entire portion of the world can be shut off for a player forever. Our server population is only so big and people that do play tend to visit populated areas to play with others.

Most of the PK problems would be fixed with a faction fix or something along those lines. When factions were booming 6 months ago PK killings dramatically decreased. But again some sort of fix or new system would be implemented. It was said months ago a fix would be patched but then again 3 years ago CUB was due for release.

I met a man that wanted to go on an adventure.
He went to the ocllo cave.
This is not an adventure, enjoy the line up for the demon or the blood elemental.

There isn't a pk problem. There is an ocllo problem.
Young status is abused to Lord/Ladyship and multiple gm's.

Communication crystals are more broken than a macro'n tracker.

Yeah, the fact that a PK can claim the bounty on themselves is certainly crappy. That's a problem with multiple accounts, but also, a friend can easily do it too, so even account linking checks doesn't work out. This isn't a bad concept, you've said though: "on their heads", what if they're a ghost and it's been turned in?
Regardless, a rework of the bounty system would be great. Just... some way... any way... that ensures legit PK hunters get paid when they get the kill and PK's themselves cannot benefit.

I have no idea what that system would be :)

I love the idea of retaining the head, a step further: some type of pike being available to buy as deco would be great, such that you could place a head you retained on that pike. I envision Anti-PK HQ having a bunch out front.

Make Young status auto resign after any skill reaches 75 points. This would fix some abuse.
