I don't think anyone is doubting your statement here. And most of us that play and want to expand into a nicer location or get a larger plot of land, have already seen this first hand. So while some might complain that @Labeler wanting to own 15 forts is selfish. His end game ambitions are not the real problem. (hell a guy has to have goals, even if we peasants don't like it) The true heart of the problem is, as @Ragnar Lothbrok pointed out. The friends of friends refreshing countless houses every week in the hopes that a player may someday return. Those are the ones that are causing the majority of the empty housings no one is selling. And lets face it, those home owners are not logging in to see if anyone wants to buy their old properties.
Absolutely i think its selfish! I want a fort, and i don't think they should be worth 20m+ to own given the servers active population. However i respect that everyone has a right to pursue their own goals. Whatever those may be. So long as that goal keeps him playing, then I say go for it.
There's no spawn here at the Vesper Villa, and it takes about 25 seconds to run to the inn. Wouldn't really call it dumpy lol. I do agree with you, there are a lot of greedy people that hold onto these houses you describe. But the reality is, what percentage of those people do you honestly think look on the forums to see if anyone wants to buy, or are even active at all? So basically you will just have to make do with what you find - and you aren't going to find much better than the two I posted if you're only half arsed about it. Do you want to buy the small tower? It's quite literally a 2 second run from the guard zone. You can't get much better than this - small tower shouldn't be underestimated - 3 floors with decent storage space. What say you?
Yep. Staff don't seem to be too bothered about making changes like this - when was the last time they actually responded to anything posted in the suggestions forum?
Best advice I can give is when you see a house for sale in an area you like, take a walk by and see what else is available. Often times you can plant your own house at a better location than the one being offered on the forums! That happened with that Rat Valley house. Somebody posted a picture of his house for sale and put his little map right over an open area. I immediately went to the area and planted a small house for just the cost of the deed. I think the slightly larger house sold for something like $800k the following morning after i placed mine. Last night I placed a small house Just east of Britain, right outside the guardzone. The night before I placed a small house immediately outside another spawn I like to hit daily. I just missed out on a 11x11 spot sorta by itself just outside the swamp. I had a house planted but I didnt really intend to stay in that spot long term. Still it was a nice spot so I tried to go back but somebody else musta beat me back there as my rune is blocked. Find the areas you like and place a small nearby. Dont decorate it, just keep it handy so you can redeed it fast and place it right on your spot that will likely open up at some point. You'd be shocked. Youre gonna have to save your million to get a primo, primo spot without winning some outrageous IDOC war but medium housing spots can be found. Again, I feel your pain when you see the empty fortress cities but it just means I fight fire with fire. I came back with zero houses and about $8k about a month ago. Now I have: A large brick surrounded by 4 smaller houses on the coast in a wonderfully convenient spawn free spot. A house it Rat Valley Houses on the outskirts of East and West Britain. All told I have 11 houses. 6 are in use at all times and the 5 are essentially watchtowers to scout areas of interest.
People need to decide: if we keep this shard as a free market with everyone doing what they want with their money and proprieties or if we socialize all the wealth and distribute in equal slices to the active habitants of these lands.... that way we would have towers and golem spots for everyone. My socialist sins make me tend to the second option but i know this will not gonna happen.. so lets get rich to buy what we want.
Hoping your're mostly joking Socialism doesn't work in the real world and wouldn't work in game. Not everyone should have a piece of the pie. Just like real life, if you want something you work for / save up and earn it. If we all got a piece of the pie then really there wouldn't be much to play for. I have a long term goal and a property I drool over and plan to get it one day. Just need to save the $$ I want to offer for it then figure out who TF owns it.
@Jeebs joking? no my friend... actually i am organizing a militia to depose lord britsh and his court... building some hybrid popular government where we would overtax the multiple house owners and using it to distribute social checks.
