Cannot poison arrows or bows here. Only a select group of blades that all fall under fencing/swords skill.

Load of information on poisoning at Poison Explained.

    Nox (Poison) Fencer

    + Fast stabs
+ Can poison your newbie dagger (for bad times)
+ Possible paralyzing blows with two handed fencing weapons (spear, short spear etc.)
    - Only 3 weapons to poison (Dagger, Kryss, War Fork)
    - Fencing damage varies more than swords.
    - Applying potent poison is more costly (4 nightshade for GP %90, 8 nightshade for DP %20 chance)

    Nox Swords

    + Fast slices with katana
+ Can poison your newbie katana if you pick swordsmanship at start (for bad times)
+ More weapons to poison (all one handed swords)
+ More slayer drops compared to fencing
    - Applying potent poison is more costly (4 nightshade for GP %90, 8 nightshade for DP %20 chance)

    Nox Mage

    + 1 NS per spell
+ If you GM poison with GM mage: greater poison up to 10, deadly poison up to 2 tiles.
+ You can poison from a distance
    - Can be fully resisted at times
    - Poison field spell not affected, only poison spell

No you can't poison axes but after you poison a non caster you can smash them with an axe.

Katana is the fastest on this era.

If you plan to kill monsters, I would go for swords, but if you plan to kill players, you need the paralyzing blow from a fencing weapon, because combat is mounted and fast.

Even when you go warrior, I recommend magery for small heals & mage perks if you plan to PvP.
