what if we implemented a system where you had to gain currency by playing the game, then each forum post or line in irc you submit takes away from that currency? that would do away with a lot of these people that just blab and blab out of game but don't really do anything in game.

I say we implement a system that bans people when they post with a secret word of the hour, determined by a randomized database built by the admins.

think it would be just fine if trash talk was moved to UORPVP or UOR right away. I always cringe when Westra logs in right as everyone is saying NO YOU ARE THE ONE THAT IS GAY

LOL: I'll take this as a compliment than....And I agree... trash talk should be in the channels developed for trash talk.

It's called playing video games. Show me a game where people aren't talking shit and I will show you the most boring game I've seen all year.

Ok, don't ask me to name the games; one: I don't play them: Two, not sure naming other games is acceptable on forums.

But Blaise... that is a wrong statement, unless you need that kind of "trash talk" to make the game interesting. I know a couple people who are Admen on other style games and won't tolerate "sexual, racist trash talk, especially directed to other players"
These are not games developed for little children...but young to old adults. And they are not boring games.

    My two cents worth

This thread should be moved to trash talk for discussion.

    lol, forum stat loss.

The problem with turning likes into something karmic thats supposed to have a net balance, is that people on the internet have no shame. If its as simple as downvoting someone anonymously 20 times to squelch their voice -- guaran-damn-tee that every vocal person on this board would be silenced in less than a week, myself likely included.

You were on UOSA, Gid -- think of the trade forums fiasco with karmic balance, and how reputation was always skewed because people have no shame... do we really want that kind of system doling out actual punishment? I don't.

Theres no way to fix malicious intent -- this would just lead to what you already see on UOSA's forums. People white knighting not-very-anonymously from their non-standard accounts, so they can point stack on the one they want to do damage with. It just seems like its asking for trouble.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see some of the more vocal members of the board brought down to a sane level, but I don't think forced behavior is the way to achieve it. It won't just spare aggression in the boards; it will sacrifice post quality because everyone will always be worried about their karmic balance.

A real IT professional isn't hindered by silly things like access prevention if they want to get to something. ;)

    1. Post threads in the proper section
    2. Don't be racist
    3. Leave personal attacks out of the discussion and stick to in game trash talk when in the proper thread.

Problem solved. Let's not get carried away with another ridiculous suggestion thread.

It wouldn't hurt for Chris to have a couple respected, trustworthy people serve as forum mods to enforce proper etiquette, and give them the ability to move, lock, or delete threads as necessary. Things seem to be getting a little out of hand lately.

No one should be banned for anything verbally. Put on your big boy pants, or hit the ignore button. Give me a break. Ban cheaters not trash talkers.
