I have less than a year away from my electrical engineering degree, and I have been offered a new job. The wife and I are still discussing the details and trying to make decisions. I am unsure of the affect it will have on my play time on UOR. There are two possible outcomes: :(

IF MY PLAYTIME IS NOT AFFECTED BY THE JOB.

I will continue to play the game as I have always played it.

IF MY PLAYTIME IS DESTROYED BY THE JOB.

The following 7 phase sale will occur.

Phase 1 (1-2 weeks) – 50% of my plant collection, 50% of my server birth collection, and 50% of my statue collection

Phase 2 (1-2weeks) – Remaining 50% of my plant collection, remaining 50% of my server birth collection, and remaining 50% of my statue collection

Phase 3 (1-2weeks) – 7,000 – 10,000 various slayer, power, vanqs weapons. 4,000-6,000 pieces of armor ranging from fort-invul. Put into weapon / armor packages.

Phase 4 (1-2 weeks) – Houses, including the sale of the glorious marble island (the entire island) and the ONE OF A KIND OCCLO VENDOR MALL.

Phase 5 (1 week) – Clean up – Final remaining sale of leftovers. Discounted.

Phase 6 (1 week) – Distribute remaining unsold items to friends.

Phase 7 (1 day) – All remaining items, such as spawning rares and misc. other items that i will not be selling will be placed in a tower and I will hold a legendary idoc event

I will let you know in the upcoming weeks of the details of my situation. Some of the gold/plat will be used to place a statue of myself in the A^T guild hall, and a large portion of the gold will be donated to dramatically boost the available resources and supplies for new player joining the shard.

    Thank you all.

Would be a truly sad day to see you go, but obviously if you're going to be making the REAL PLAT you gotta do it. Either way, wishing you all the best bud!

Treasureman, I'd rather you stay and keep all your stuff. :)

If you can't, well, you've got a solid plan there! *starts saving just in case*

    Best wishes either way!

    Congrats on the new job.

You'd be a huge loss to the server.

I would also add that even if it *feels* like your playtime is destroyed at first, just stick it out for awhile. There's bound to be an adjustment period after you start. Don't make any decisions too soon.

Big time this. A lot of times you'll start a new job, feel overwhelmed, and it'll be crazy for a month or two. Once the dust starts to settle, you will get in a rhythm. Don't pull the trigger before you get to that part.

I hope your play time is not destroyed my friend, this is the great escape for many of us. If must leave us then I would like to ask, if you would honor our previous agreement on the Occlo marble. I offered to purchase it and you had accepted my bid then retracted at the last minute, you told me that if you ever did sell the home that you would let me have the first chance at purchasing it. I hope you will still agree to this.

    Thanks

I'm still hoping to have an idoc event to help spread my wealth to the shard. Give back to the people, even if i stay.

Job does not mean you are game over. I have a degree in Engineering physics and also working in a good job. I am pleased. The money is ok.
My employer respects good working conditions like minimalizing overtime hours. My job is partly my hobby.
    Dont get exploited.
Life does not mean job - job means giving possibility of a good life. Without free time best earnings mean nothing for you personally.
So long an game gives you something good play it.

LIKE LIKE to Anarchy POST , IMO totally agree with Anarchy , don't pull the trigger on so much time invested , irl job and irl plat :p is great and always must and should come 1st , but tbh without a little pixel plat to relax from time to time , one day you think why did i do that? refresh houses , log on from time to time check updates on website , mirc chat a little , see how your server births are less and less common , new patches etc , then once you get the HANG of your time balance irl job and how you spend your IRL PLAT and IRL TIME with Wife , youll REALLY be able to decide when to click on Razor and play , and u will still have ALL them pixels :) and i forgot to mention as i read your past post... GOLD im sure u have 1mil checks.. and u will be away from game ... so , your guild and helping new commers is GREAT and you have people u trust with gold checks to spred among new commers into server , that you can always get back , gold can be farmed , THAT no problem , that imo totally and actually would be amazing , helping new people , comming back say after 5 weeks after and logging in an seeing those newbies u left all 7x and a bunch of new players and a bigger uor community thanks to your input shinnies

I'm guessing here, but I think I can relate to Tman's motivation for wanting to quit the game completely because there are some games that I cannot play casually. My fun, for some games, is going all out and trying to "beat the game" in whatever way I choose--I know this is impossible in MMO's, but I hope you guys understand my point. For example, I cannot play World of Warcraft casually. It is not fun for me to just play here and there. I had to invest 100% into raiding, dailies, and all of that other stuff. This example applies primarily to the World of Warcraft that existed many years ago, but it is definitely one of those games that I cannot play casually.

If UO is like this for Tman, I can totally understand and empathize with his desire to alleviate his mind from the addiction of a game that he can't play casually. Thankfully, in my case, the type of playstyle that I have chosen on UOR is not consuming in the same way WoW consumed my attention. I can play UOR casually, and I really love that about this shard and this game.

Good luck Tman. I hope you make the best decision for your future and where you want to be.
