I've yet to really start @SativaGreen , however my plan is for a fencer/archer who chops his own lumber and crafts his own bows.
does the naturalist group have an active discord channel yet? if not, i am intersted in letting them use The UOR public champ channel as one It has alot of the active community in it, we could easily set up something where there is a naturalist text channel and voice channel that is public to all, and another that is private with membership status. I think this meshes well with the community events we're trying to do through that channel, and the visibility might draw in more activity. It will be easy to set up Extra permissions for naturalist moderators too and hand that out to all of the more active naturalist. I played a naturalist character for a couple months and it was some of the most fun ive had on UOR, besides the stuff that i currently do. The mechanics make alot more sense, the monsters don't all one shot kill you (ancient wyrm-firebreath for 51, flamestrike 41, teleport melee-DEAD). The goals are much more tangible, the character builds get realllly interetsing, since you can easily rock 9 or 10 skill builds that will make you more powerfull than trying to be immediately 7x everything. If their was a community actively doing this, I would love to join.
There is! We are pretty disorganized at the moment I don’t get on that often, but have been having a total blast playing this way
I have been hunting goats and wandering the forest. Killed a lizardman and found a shiny platinum coin in his pack.
Forgive me friends for I have macro'd resist to the low 90's on two characters, as well as Item ID to GM and lock picking to the low 90's on another. That said, I don't use mounts and have since abandoned Razor -- feels like old times. All my combat and other casting skills were trained in the field and I've chased sheep for a month to build up my tailoring (does the "make last" button count??) My characters typically maintain a level of uniqueness in build and more often then not have one or two crafting / gathering skills as a prominent features. This discussion in general just reminds me of siege perilous, I never made the switch as I already had friends on Atlantic and didn't want to start over. But I really believe that was how the game was designed to be played. My characters may not be naturalist enough to qualify by most of your standards but I am always up for running barefoot through dungeons or exploring the countryside. I'll also make it a point to buy or barter with any of you to support the local economy of player made goods by naturalist types. I could always use the services of a good carpenter and a good bowyer if any of you are starting down that path
All are welcome on the path of the naturalist. There is a naturalist discord channel in the public champ group.
https://discord.gg/d2njZBV thats an invite to the Public Champ Group discord, message me and then i can give you the invite into the naturalist part of that discord.
