Just to clarify, Dredd is not using any dexxer PK, just a Mage Macer w/ precasted Meteor Swarm. Not exactly my style, as I prefer the Bow.
Don't see how this yields anymore praise than say a bow or swords mage. The way he is using it, does not require much skill, as it's simply running up hitting an opponent with nearly 0% defensive chance and releasing a 100% chance cast from scroll, Meteor. Effective, sure, praise-worthy? You lose me.
Leaving loot is generous to me lol nothing sucks more than having to restock 1-3 accounts. As for being Pked I only mind if it is more than once by the same person/group before I've had chance to recover and at least get my butt out of there lol. But then again gank squads are pretty lame, 2 pks is whatever, but you get 3 or more all running together against random solo people adventuring, it's lame, if there was a motive for having 5 PKs like you know a guild group is hunting so you want to take on a larger group then cool but if you know for a fact there is 1 person against you and you have 5 lol then dry loot and act like you did more than 1 attack.. Yeah d move lol. It is a lot of fun running with a group and is good practice for scenarios like idoc fights where a lot of teams are involved. But as far as killing pvm players solo I think squads are lame. A good many player has left because of constant gank Lol, some of which never would have made it anyways but some just got shafted by PKs
C. Xv I feel ya, bro. If it means anything, you would be up there tied on my list w/ Balian but I am not subject to your attacks any longer
Lebron is a top notch Brigand as well. How could i forget about that guy. Fast and efficient, id have to put him up there with Dredd and chase. Props Killa...
I say PK solo or run in a group, the end result will likely be the same. The decision to dry loot, horse kill, and/or grief is made on the fly. If you're killing a brand new dude farming skeletons in Deceit, that guy you kill and then rez. If you're killing an established player, that guy you dry loot. I look at it this way: When the PKers rolled in groups, they did so until they stirred the bees nest enough to generate a fight. Pissing enough people off by being general dicks is what usually did the trick. I have reds but I never considered myself a PK. I would go around very rarely on solo trips, it just wasn't the same. PKing solo is like drinking alone, some might say you have a problem. I PK'd with friends when it was dead, we did it for just enough time to generate some sort of fight... then we would either stay on our reds or switch chars to continue the fight. TL;DR: You're gonna get PK'd and everyone does it for a different reason... and they don't care what you think.
it's funny you use bards as a 0% defensive char. i use my disco/provo tamer when i want gold, i am a glass cannon. i use my eval tamer when i'm willing to sacrifice gold but be a PITA to kill. when on my bard (mages), i'm ready to have at it 1v1, on a less than ideal char, but definitely a capable one. now 3 v 1, yes i'm looking more at an easy escape. i love a solo red visit. I don't look to come back on another more suited char. they showed up on a red (has it's own risks), i can be bothered to put up a fight if i'm there to farm gold (my own risk includes a less than ideal template)
I typically go to great lengths to avoid PKs while farming in dungeons. Depending on who the PKs are and previous experiences with them I will either gate out with my pets and deny them their fun (and I am successful almost every time) or I will stay and fight them in order to provide them with some entertainment/practice. For me it's an attempt to figure out why they are attacking me. Are they just trying to be jerks and get off on ruining someone's fun, or are they just looking for some PvP practice to keep their muscle memory sharp and their group synchronized? This new group of PKs we have seen around seem to be the latter.
False premisse: "the players they target are not ready for PVP, so do not have a chance at 1 vs 1"... for sure the pvmer have chance.. is like a david against goliah... but is very possible. to be honest this one of the great pleasures of the pvmers is to kill the pk that attempted to kill you...
I definitely think there is something to that. Just about everything is funner with friends and there's something very exciting and primal about rolling with a group of people ready and lookingto engage in battle. Overall, it really is a good sign for the server. SOF were trouble if you happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time but farming became a lot less exciting when they left. It's just part of the era of the game-- people can be noble or ignoble and deal with the in game consequences. I travel with a group and i also hunt solo. I'm by no means an expert PK but i will usually rez and leave the loot. Sometimes i'll confiscate just the gold as a tax. I like to ask if the players need anything or if they're good to go. I usually will not dry loot unless they start talking trash or there is some other reason i don't really like them. Or if they're experienced enough where it doesn't make much of a difference for them. The way I view it (especially in regards to newer players) not looting them is kind of a neighborly act. I don't want to cause anyone real grief or to get too frustrated and quit... but the reality of this game is it is built upon that risk. Also i think people are more likely to engage and fight you in the future if they know you wont dry loot and rez kill them.
Look at these well thought out posts in response to why people play the way they do. Incredible insights and hopefully some perspective for those who do not engage. IMO, you miss out on a beautiful part of the game that is not easily found in other MMOs.
