Updated my original post with a link to an old mini-boss thread that has a few ideas, as well as confirmation some were in the works...from back about 5 years ago!
Random spawners are not a bad idea and random monsters & locations worked for the Mystic Collection Quest. While power gamers always end up with 75% or more of the kills. New players or players looking outside the hot spots also found mystic monsters.
More mid range bosses for templates other then tamers. Orc bosses Ratmen bosses Dread spider boss Earth elementals Evil mage bosses Higher end bosses Jungle titans- that spawn outside event Daemons- Rotting corpse Something for tamers obv obv Nightmare boss Spawning camps with a % to spawn a boss spawn. so each camp spawn spawn regular adds plus a miniboss. These are my thoughts without reading rest of posts.
I suppose if there were ENOUGH camps/random spawners, it’d get people moving My “fear” is that there would be, let’s say, 8 overland locations that would soon be just another rune in one Overland Spawn book. That could soon grow stale. Many locations, even if runes are marked eventually, would still provide a lot if variety...especially if they’re placed in interesting parts of the world. Ultimately, my vote goes to making the spawns as random as possible, whether it be by type, location, or both. I dont know what is and isn’t possible, so I’ll just say: push the limits as best ya can.
How many traditional npc camp locations are there? Could we add a few more? And if so with a randomized spawn there could still be plenty of overworld travel/rune hoping involved to make it interesting!
Mini-boss - "A 96-inch Python" (Like a tanky giant serpent. Tameable. Would very rarely come in other hues). @wylwrk 's dream of Silver serpents with laser beams (maybe shooting Ebolts or Fireball spell)
I marked all of the NPC camps that I could find, and I ended up with 6 books. So there are quite a few.
I think T2a could definately use some love in new spawn etc.. ICE EAST- currently has nothing going on in it. It's one of the most unvisited large chunks of unused land i can think of. It would be tempting to put a smaller Artic ogre lord spawn with a BOSS spawn, but that might be considered too good of a farming area. Could do with some pirates/Brigands and have the boss be Executioners too.. kinda alot of space and options there. OASIS - has a couple undead spawn scattered throughout randomly if im remembering right. Could make it spawn lich lords/dark ones in those same areas maybe? Theres alot of other areas with alot of space etc around, ill probably look around when i have the time and update this
Possible boss/mob additions that help bring use to awful slayers like an air, fire, or water Elemental Bosses. As well as, maybe a scorpion boss or any that would bring more value to the trash slayer weps/instruments.
I should have held off on selling my vanq short spear of summer wind..... I would also like to see some mobs that tear pets apart and make skills like parry more attractive (i.e. instead of bringing in your fluffy to tank, you have your dude dressed in invuln plate and a shield getting cross healed by two others. Or maybe a mob that makes pets go wild/crazy for s short time? II am as guilty ad anyone, and have a couple of tamers build up, and can tipple box, but it is frustrating that that's effectively the only way to kill boss monsters.
Am I absurd in thinking that ANY spawn of a particular type could/should spawn a boss? Why do we allow bosses to be camped when it's just not needed? Let's get people out in the world, let's make people camp the 5 lich spots for the Dark One, let's have the 5 spots that spawn gazers/elder gazers spawn a beholder, Make a colossus spawn in despise, make an Artic Ogre Mage spawn in t2a.... Also, MAke T2A great again. There is 2.75 billion square kilometres there where you cant place a house nor can you fight anything worth walking around for. It's dog shirt. Lets make people explore the world. MAKE AN ELEMENTAL LORD THAT GIVES MORE THAN 2 STONE/SANDSTONE/MARBLE ORE BUT DOESN'T TAKE PET OR MAGIC DAMAGE. MAKE A DUNGEON BOSS THAT DOESN'T TAKE PET DAMAGE MAKE A DUNGEON BOSS THAT DOESN'T SHOOT MAGIC NOR DOES IT TAKE MAGIC/PET DAMAGE (DEXXER ONLY) MAKE AN NPC MAGE BOSS MAKE A SKELETAL KNIGHT BIG BASTARD MAKE ONE OF THE POLAR BEARS THAT ARE CRAZY COLOURS TAMEABLE BUT STILL HAVE SHITTY STATS AND MAKE IT LIKE 1/2000 SO LES CLAYPOOL COMES BACK AND SPENDS HIS 300 MILLION ON A POLAR BEAR. MAKE ELDER WYRMS DROP ELDER WYRM LEATHER AT 1/400 CHANCE Caps lock and bold for effect. Picture me yelling over the drone of the crowd.
Part of the reason I've read to have specific locations spawn bosses versus the mobs itself were things like treasure maps. Imagine digging up a level 6 that spawns a POD, elder wyrm, and etc. If you got no friends that treasure is gone.
It would be nice when digging up elementals with gargoyle pickaxes if there were a small chance at a mini-boss for elementals, such as a Marble Elemental Lord, Sandstone Elemental Lord and Stone Elemental Lord. They would have slightly better drops and a chance at the statuettes like you get from the golem lords. The biggest thing I would like to see is that leaderboards get updated so we can see where we rank with kills against certain monsters again. They used to be updated regularly when I first started and haven't been in ages. Other than that, we need more goblins! A Goblin King and his minions would be a cool thing to see.
I am enjoying peoples thoughts on overland spawns, mini bosses that spawn in the graveyards and static spawn locations gets a plus from me, along with adding the current bosses to all spawn locations... although whats stopping these mini bosses being world wide, something like the paragons that started with Ilshenar with its increased loot and difficulty and a chance for peculiar meat (I dont want some superfast golden mongbat) T2A has always felt like a wasted space, when it was released people were new and walked everywhere, now here we all have 3 accounts full of GM's this area is mainly full of crappy little spawn that doesn't get killed and so give people a reason to do it. @WarrenBuffet above me has pointed out the savages, with these guys came a lot of issues, like bolas and them stupid spears. however a camp of these guys without their loot would be great (I wouldn't mind them using bolas, just not players) @Goblinchild knows this as a fellow miner, ores get monotonous, not much risk from the spawn, specially with the right home set up. give us a Lord spawn for random ores or maybe a crazed miner NPC that can spawn along side it. @TreeHugger has an issue with Caps lock and a few good ideas apart from the tamable stuff and new crafting leather (unless its deco) Id also like to see another dungeon or two, all year round places that tamers would be silly to enter. I'm sure there were a lot of good ideas I didn't pick up on, i didn't read it all.
Another Idea has occurred to me, Spawn bosses that can teleport (not get trapped by fences(cupid)) and also have their area effect weapons make Pets go mad and attack all players on screen.
