What do you think about the xmas event? After speaking to some players, most suggested more elf and ranger/battle mage spawns to make it better. Some said they couldn't find any. It was mentioned it ends the first week of january. If the spawn doesn't change, can the event end date be changed to the second week of january.
Using tracking I find them every 10 minutes, it seems I even have a few runes right for them already. I could be wrong, I just don't kill them, they are hard for me. But they are very often on my radars, just like the rest of the elves ... I think for those who want more elves, it does not matter which elf altar needs to be activated, also to make the skills grow faster, add an hour of power and bless the weapon. Before dinner, it needs to be prepared, it is not difficult. Long life UOR.
i simply think the chance of getting scrolls should be the same between dungeons and outer world seems odd to me that outer world hunting is discouraged by lower chance of dropping scrolls would love to see more people running around exploring the map, rather than just recalling between banks and dungeons
In regards to the post above about overworld and dungeons having the same drop rate.. I think the idea was to reward those who are willing to play where there is more risk. Dungeons are smaller and much easier to find other people in. Now that said, I also don't disagree. My wife for example, just doesn't care for the dungeons, she does pretty much every event possible in the overworld. It has been a rough year of farming with almost zero drops for her. In past years I've actually always felt like drop rates in overworld were pretty good, and maybe its just her rng this year, but its been bad for drops this year for her.
I am basically hunting in the outdoor spots... low drop rate but i am satisfied... is relaxing.. and i didint lost any scroll to any pk... 17 scrolls so far, without any exagerated grinding and my pets only died once...
I voted no. Many people have gotten very rich off these elves, as they are. We don’t need to further, negatively, affect the economy. And this is coming from someone who’s never gotten a single scroll.
I voted no as well, in terms of more bosses. I'd vote yes to and equal drop rate between overland and dungeon tho.
If everyone who participated received 10-15 more scrolls per xmas event, it would be better, and not offset the economy. If the dungeon and overland drop rate for scrolls were the same (1/50), all who participated would like the event more and make staying logged in worth it. Hunting the overland for many hours without a scroll drop isn't worth it, which has happened a few times. Why make the scroll drop chance higher in dungeons for the xmas event, the risk in dungeons is there all year from pks and those who belong to that particular group of players have their way in the cotd, so why not make the xmas event a bit different with some changes. If the drop rate for scrolls are kept the same for dungeons and overland, then at least increase the spawn for overland to offset the 1/100 scroll drop chance or change re-spawn time. A few hours each day without a scroll drop is discouraging, keeping players logged in and focused is a priority.
Its a nice idea, but there will never be remote equality in scroll drops across the player base. I am a seasoned vet that only pulled in 4 scrolls because I just didn't put in that much time. I also dont have multiple blessed runebooks dedicated to mounted elf spawn locations. Other players who put in the time over the holidays and invested in marking out all the best locations got 100-150 scrolls for their efforts. Making the scroll rates match in both dungeons and outerworld is not needed. These scrolls are tickets to trammel after all, there should really be SOME risk vs. reward involved in obtained them.
As an avid scroll famer, buyer and runner... 100% no. In fact, the spawn rate should be reduced dramatically in overland, forcing more people into dungeons.
When I was logged in, there was no scroll drop for 4-5 hours on at least 4 different days, that's at least 16-20 hours of eliminating elves without a scroll drop. That's a problem. The spawn rate for overland should be increased or the re-spawn time adjusted to allow more chance of getting a scroll drop in overland. The goal is to put more scrolls into player's backpack, not generate a scenario were one player works for the scroll and another pk's them and takes it, as most people don't want to be part of a pk trap, as seen in cotd.
UO doesn't have to be easy. This Christmas I received only 6 scrolls because I have a personal life and I like it. Acting according to my method, I played little and got good at the same time. If I get a scroll in the first 50 minutes, then I go for the next 50 minutes. And if in the first 50 minutes I don't get the scroll, I end the hunt and do other things in UO or go to irl. I think Chris is doing everything intelligently. Yes, 1/100 in the open world, where you are completely safe and are engaged in farming. And yes, 1/50 in the dungeon, for the risk and difficulty of caves, dungeons, monsters and the risk of red boys. Long life UOR.
I also went a couple days without scrolls at times, then made up with 6 in a day also. If you put in the time you will get scrolls. I don't think they system needs to change at all. I hunt mainly overland usually as I tend to find less elves in the dungeons because small area and lots of people farming them there, then I go overland and find some. At least 80% of the scrolls I got this year were overland.
This year was a rough one for me, but then again my time was limited. The dungeons felt barren this year. Maybe we add more dungeon elves? Add them to tera keep, khaldun(They don't spawn there right?) How about sleighs (ships) with reindeer/elf/santa similar to the pirates during the summer. Change some of the camps to holiday spawn randomly? Just throwing some ideas around.
If there are no elves, there are no elves. I hit all the dungeons first, if I don't find anything I go overland. It just so happens this year my play time was the same as like 200 other people.
