Yes I agree it's a theoretical over supply and theoretically inflated, but I can't find any theoretical blessed runebooks and it's easier for me to farm the gold than to champ. Very true about wealth transfer from newer players to the older, all good observations. One variable to consider is that UOR isn't real life or a real economy, we don't have families to feed or UO taxes, so it's not going to exactly reflect a real world economy. People are happy to sit on that plat and wait for the gold they know people will pay rather than to devalue their own position for quick gold. I know some economy experts play UOR and have commented on these issues, I'll probably look further into their posts.
Its actually really easy to champ. Champing doesnt involve much more than having 2 chars follow the third, and a macro/script rolling. Especially for the time being. Arcanias lists smaller quantities at 4.5k per, but 1k at 4m, which is 4k per. So you're both right depending on purchase size I suppose. Also, who cares anymore? The plat market (speaking about buyers) is mainly newer players. From my time here, 80% of those play for nostalgia for a couple months and then bail. Long term players don't have much need for it, they can get it themselves. Plat held a lot more value when the server had tons of people all wanting runebooks and ethies. Those days are long gone though. Right now, there are just a bunch of dudes that spent a LOT of time stockpiling plat to a level that will never ever sell. You have a handful of vets rich enough to buy it, that will simply pay the peeps selling it at lower rates for it. Zero reason to pay a premium when peeps ARE selling it in chunks of 1k for 4 per.
Just here to clear the air, I’ve been successfully selling bulk plat between 4k - 4.5k per for the last several weeks.
Yep. It made a lot of sense for me to pay 5k before I was established, without the ability to multi box or deal with PKs etc. Like you said, who cares at this point? I'm starting to suspect some of the people most vocal about plat being overpriced have rivalry issues. Many of these people don't even need plat. I'm glad plat retains value, I hope they continue to sit on their plat. I don't want my items devalued and I also enjoy having things to work towards, character progression, etc. I'm glad for them to make 5k per, I didn't find the grind too unreasonable and I don't think they're getting as rich as some people suspect. Demand is not infinite. Like you said, mainly newer players. With that in mind, I think there are other ways to make even more gold than to sell plat.
No one is arguing he's not offering plat at 4k, I said his add could be interpreted differently without being an "illiterate 3rd grader." You're not right either, you claimed plat sells at 4k regularly. You're obviously trying to spin reality for whatever reason. What you should have said is that if you are willing to spend 4 million minimum, there is one person who will sell at the rate of 4k. Not a very convincing argument that plat is worth 4k, when you're honest. No spin zone please.
3.5k is fair , everyone already gets 10-30 free plat a month Let’s not be greedy here , new players ultimately pay for it
Consider the regular online acct numbers. Let's use a very modest 500 online at any given time per month. Thats 5,000 plat given out, for free, every single month.
Indeed there's inflation caused by those online zombies parked there just to leech plats. Let's remove welfare, and see how many online we get.
But not all of that enters the market, my welfare plat is for personal use. For me, after I was established enough to have 4 million sitting around I didn't need 1k plat, but I'm not huge into paying gold for house decoration either. I needed plat most earlier in the game at smaller quantities. If anyone thinks plat is worth below market value, message me please. I like good deals.
just some insight. i believe telamon did or didnt do this on purpose: char name changes are worth either 100K gold or 5000 copper >> 20 gold per copper house +1 secure = 50 plat or 20K copper house +25 LD = 50 plat or 20K copper if i apply 20g per copper > house expansions are worth 400k each. this translates that 50 plat = 400k gold making 1 plat 8K per... something to digest ....
Awful comparison as copper can be bought at 10gp or less any time on discord, that makes Plat 4k or less on your logic
