I noticed a long time ago that everyone produces item and town names differently. Here are how I pronounce some and wanted to know how you pronounce them, as well as reply with other words that people mix up. reg-Comes from reagent(re-agent), but I pronounce it reg(like regular). Some people say REEJ. Ocllo-I have always said OCK-LOW, but know some reference it as OCHELLO. Demon/damon/daemon/deamon. I've always pronounced it demon.
Wait so is it MINE-OCK or MINH-OCK? It better be MINE-OCK because it is a mining city. If not, I've been wrong for over a decade. Also, Blaise=Blaze for those wondering. Had him clarify that for me in the past.
Thanks Lando. I say "mih-nock" for Minoc I say "jell-um" for Jhelom I say "Ock-low" for Occlo I say "Scare-uh Bray" for Skara Brae I say "New Jell-um" for Nujel'm I say "Pap-oo-ah" for Papua I say "Del-oo-cha" for Delucia I say "Fell-oo-cha" for Felucca I say Regs because people say regs but I do prefer saying reagents however erudite it may be. I say "day-mon" if there's an A in daemon, otherwise I say "de-mon" I say BRING THAT MOFUGGIN HYPE TRAIN for GideonJura Also, I say "sih-jil" for sigil, not seagull, seagill or otherwise.
When I was very young, I didn't really know what "fatigued" was and I pronounced it like "Fat-EE-Geewed". Lol! Even close to 10 years later I still say, "Yo I'm Fat-EE-Geewed, pass me a red pot!", to my bros mid fight sometimes. My older brother would laugh and act like fatigued ("Fat-EE-Geewed") was a french term that has not been given a meaning.
I started playing very young also, and pronounced it exactly the same way. Not until years later when I started playing Free shards did I realize how to actually pronounce it.
There are a few that I have heard in teamspeak or vent... Double Vision would say Reg-nats or something similar for reagents, when it is clearly Re-Agents... Ingot = Een-Got for me but DV would say Ig-Nat, same problem as above. Rune = Roon for me, but I also think DV would say Ruin. Minoc = My-Knock for me
Ingot and Rune are English words with specific pronunciations. There's no guess-work involved there. There's no I in rune, it is pronounced "roon" and ingots would be "ing-otts". As for liches: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/lich While I'm there: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/rune?s=t http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/ingot?s=t http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/wyvern?s=t
I pronounce everything like Blaise does and that scares me. Sigil is also an actual word so please don't use the hard G, it sounds less wizardly anyway.
