Merry Christmas Renaissance After a month of development we are proud to release our new holiday event system. This system is a combination of 2 years of holiday event development that will better suit our much larger playerbase. There will be aspects of world hunting, dungeoneering, strategy, character development, tasks based goals, and ironman challenges. A complete guide to the new event system will be posted soon. The Christmas event season is planned to last 14-20 days. You can read more about the holiday events here Christmas Monsters - Bosses Bad Santa Santa's Battle Mount Dark Elf Commander Dark Elf Spirit Grinch Christmas Monsters - Mini-Bosses Blitzen Comet Cupid Dancer Dasher Donner Prancer Rudolph Vixen Dark Elf Battlemage Dark Elf Knight Dark Elf Ranger Yeti Elf Battlemage Elf Knight Elf Ranger Christmas Monsters - Foot Soldiers Corrupt Soul Dark Elf Archer Dark Elf Axer Dark Elf Fencer Dark Elf Macer Dark Elf Mage Evil Polar Bear Ice Golem Snow Vortex Elf Archer Elf Axer Elf Fencer Elf Macer Elf Mage Christmas Monsters - Helpers Good Polar Bear Ridable Polar Bear Christmas Reward Vendor Updated the Christmas reward vendor for the 2014 holiday season. Armor Based on additional research into the 1999/2000 Era of ultima online we have determined that our dex penalties for various armors were incorrect. The Dex penalty for Ringmail Armor, Ringmail Legs, Ringmail Gloves and Ringmail arms have been removed. The Dex penalty for Chainmail Armor and Chainmail Legs have been removed. The Dex penalty for Bone Armor, Bone Legs, Bone Arms and Bone Gloves have been removed. The Dex penalty for Platemail Chest has been reduced from 8 to 5. The Dex penalty for Platemail Leggings has been reduced from 6 to 5. The Dex penalty for Platemail Gloves has been increased from 2 to 3. These changes will be retroactively applied for all existing armor of the above listed types. Thanks Hgugob for bringing these to my attention. The information that was used to make these changes can be found here. http://www.uorenaissance.com/stratics/armor Combat The combat changes that were being tested in patch 58 have now been applied to the live server. This includes the changes to combat damage calculation (dice rolls) And the change to armor property/magical/crafting bonuses. You can read more about the changes here and here Factions Fixed a problem in which crafting a faction weapon, using a faction crafter, in a faction controlled town would not provide you with the option to bless the item. This was due to a few shops lacking a blacksmith NPC and the range to the NPC's not being large enough. All faction controlled towns that have shops with forges/anvils will now have blacksmith NPC's The range at which you need to be near a NPC has been expanded from 12 to 20 tiles. Thanks Sandro Houses Fixed a problem in which the house courtyard disable option was requiring a 24 day cycle time, vs 24 hours. Thanks Darkwing Items Added a special type of mounted polar bear head to go with the Christmas rewards. Added a new type of rare potted plant, the snowy tree. These can be found very very rarely when using potted plant deeds. Clothing Bless deeds are no longer blessed. Pets Adjusted the pet bonding delay from 7 days to 2 hours. Note: With the customization's to pet bonding on Renaissance this arbitrary delay no longer applies. Bonded pets require additional items, and additional bonded pets require the completion of a quest. The 7 day delay no longer has a purpose as it has been replaced with other mechanics. Resolved a problem that was still allowing players to release a tamed aggressive animal in town limits. Slayers Ore Golems and Ore Golem Lords are now covered under the Elemental Ban slayer. Spells The explosion spell will now count as a harmful act when targeting, rather than when the damage is applied. Thanks Mordechai Young Program Extended the point at which young players can no longer join the program from 14 to 31 days since account creation.
The hair is cool since the neon white currently available kinda sucks.... Mostly the only thing I really want is the mounted polar beard head...
Holy crap my dexxers can actually wear armor now, bravo! BTW that was MY agapite hammer Sandro was using when that bug was found, jus' sayin'
BTW, so there is no crazy speak of anything in the future, you can accomplish this same goal with explosion pots. (gate -> pot pot pot -> take gate, etc) I know it's not perfectly the same, but it's the same concept.
Liking the armor changes. Looking forward to wearing barbed bone armor with out major dex loss. Will this patch also include allowing scissors to cut up bone armor reverting it to bones and leather?
Christmas vendor says 3x3 Christmas Rugs (Deeded Item), 300 Coins. Does that mean there are not in individual pieces like the rugs bought with platinum? So i could not buy 3 rugs and put them together with the pieces to make a larger one?
That is correct, it's a 3x3 square. You'd only be able to really cop a 3x4 if you bought 2 'sets' or a 3x5 if you bought three, and so on. Kind of wish they were on as individual tiles for 25 a piece....
Ok, thanks, that is what i assumed since it came as a deed. Id buy them up at 25 coins a piece also to make a carpet the size i wanted. Guess ill just have to go in hoping for a lucky snowy tree -- Potted Plant Deed (7 types, 4% chance for a rare type), 80 Coins
Oh...well that's nice I suppose. Could be fun to mix and match bits but either way, I'm down for that blood carpet.
@Chris I haven't tried this on test, however: Spells The explosion spell will now count as a harmful act when targeting, rather than when the damage is applied. Thanks Mordechai If this is working in the way I assume you "fixed" it to work, then you just kinda broke PvP. If the simple act of targeting an explosion flags you as an aggressor immediately then you made sync dropping obvious to the target. For example: "OK XXX is target, 1-2-drop" Players will drop explosions and the target, along with his team mates, will see the specific person being attacked. This will take any surprise out of the sync and allow for fast healing. I really think the pvpers on the server should look into this a little more because it's going to change pvp dramatically. I understand that the initial goal of this fix is to prevent or hinder town killing via the gate method, but it's damaging a larger aspect of game play. In this case you're performing open heart surgery for the hiccups.
While I understand the concern, perhaps that will open up the combat arena more so it's not a 'field two mages in synch or die to it' situation any more. I did voice the same concerns when I first heard the suggestion but I'd love to see more discourse about why that is 'needed' or makes PvP worse, from all perspectives. I know you can still tell when a drop happened and mostly on whom by the direction the casters face on targeting. The reason many people spin in duels, etc, is to attempt to prevent people from seeing who's getting targeted. While I know that is a time-honored tradition in combat, I don't really see the reason why it would be considered mandatory for it to be fun. Yes, I'm playing the devil's advocate and have no staunch opinion on whether or not the change is sound because I don't see the fun in relying on my targets not knowing when I'm attacking them.
