A Special Thank You to our Players - From The Renaissance Staff

In the free shard world it goes unsaid how important the players are to any server. On Renaissance we have without a doubt the best community of players found anywhere.

When I was convinced to undertake this project I knew very little object oriented programming, RunUO development, web development, CSS or anything needed to make this a success. We didn't set out to compete with other servers. We didn't set out to prove a point. We just wanted to give players a chance to experience this game we all love in a classic form, and in some cases for the first time.

Without all of the hard work from our players and volunteers we would not be where we are today. So much help is given without so much as a thanks, acknowledgement or reward by the general public simply to make this server great.

So this Christmas I wanted to take a moment to say Thank You. You know who you are and you know what you have done. Without your tireless dedication and support we would not be here today. The Renaissance staff will continue to maintain our exceptionally high standards and promise to keep the lights on as long as there are people who wish to call this virtual world home.

I would also like to take a moment to thank our other staff members.

Rammar, who spent hundreds of hours working with me to discuss UO Mechanics and shared his programming experience with me. For taking the time to help develop our vendor mechanics early on in the servers life to make sure the economy stayed viable.

Samorite, who has spent what little free time he has trying to convince Apoc that the c-word is not a general adjective to be used in all conversation. And for helping maintain out social network presence and assisting me with the arduous task of advertising this place to new people. But mostly the Apoc thing.

Ezekiel, who spent thousands of hours helping create the world everyone enjoys today. Who managed to spawn the world you explore today almost from memory and long forgotten stratics pages. Over a period of 4 months he created 3500 individual spawners that covered the whole world. And somehow having the patience to work with me while I learned enough C# to create the combat mechanics that everyone here enjoys in the early days of the server.

Darkwing, who without knowing me very well agreed to come to Renaissance and help moderate our IRC community. With the patience of a saint he has prevented derogatory worlds from being the norm in our chat room, and custom designed our IRC management Bot to keep the peace. He is still here after 2.5 years putting up with my annoying management style and making sure that players can allow their kids into the IRC channel without having to explain what that word for a japanese sex act means.

Pegbyter, who has taken the time to greet over 1000 new players since joining the Renaissance team a year ago. Helping set Renaissance above all other MMO experiences he takes the time once a day to make sure that each of our new players finds the help they need.

General Volunteers, who are really the unsung heroes of Renaissance. There are to many things to list that they have helped with. Without their belief in my ability to make Renaissance something great we would not be here today.
