I don't really like to toot my own horn, but that stuff mes said was true. I was actually there.
Cheap regs was a nice side benefit, but no one made their living off of it. I would say the CL and maybe 3-4 people from the elite took advantage of the cheap regs regularly, and even then it was just for stocking up. None of them were professional reg resellers. I was the faction's top thief and I bought cheap regs once or twice and that was about it.
Most of the profit I made from factions was looting dead people, which you can do here. I actually profit quite a bit from factions here, I carry 50 of each reg and 5 of each pot while others carry 325+ stones of loot every time they go out. It's quite a comfortable profit margin even on a bad night. I regularly fill up the stronghold with other people's loot.
And that's wealth to me. As a pvper, I value supplies over fur rugs or whatever other stuff other players like.

It's a little more complex than that. I don't agree with your perception of it.
In era, champion spawns were a felucca only thing. This is because champion spawns were intended to be closely related to pvp, the whole system was built on the idea that people would raid champion spawns to take the spoils. Power scrolls couldn't be insured or blessed purposefully so that players could kill spawners and take them.

This is because the profitability of champion spawns is balanced against the threat of being raided. A PK who doesn't raid spawns because it's "being a dick" is a PK who isn't doing his job, the system doesn't work without bloodshed.
We've seen what happens on this very server when the system breaks down, actually. Remember that time Telamon had to nerf the everloving fuck out of the spawn system because people were safely farming rats all day in despise? That's because we weren't doing our jobs as PKs. One of my biggest regrets on this server is that I didn't push for us to raid those spawns more aggressively, if we had done our jobs and generated risk the champion spawn system would have never been nerfed.

This is a felucca server, PKing isn't being a dick. It's playing the game.

This seems like a matter of player behavior.
If both sides want to ghost for half an hour before they fight, that is a player behavior issue. No amount of patching factions is going to fix it. Even if we complain at Telamon enough to somehow disable ghosting, people will use trackers and stealthers to scout. If those get nerfed, people will use newbie blues. If that gets policed, people will run around with recall up checking things out. If recall is changed, people will use naked oranges to scout for them.

You're asking Telamon to fix a player behavior. Not only just a player behavior, a persistent player behavior that players will just find a way to work around whatever fix you're asking him to implement. It's unreasonable. Like I said pages ago, the only way to fix the stagnancy in the pvp community is for the pvp community to change.

If ebola is looking for fights, and you are looking for fights, why are you not fighting?
We have no trouble finding fights when we log on to look for them.

I'm not talking shit, just defending something said about me. I've seen you kill people by yourself plenty. Although you calling that a 3v7 is not remotely true, but you've never been able to count anyways.

there are three lesclaypools, my corpse, and the title of another SL on the screen. That's five at best. You can't count. The guy in blue at the bottom is yours.

There are four people in your party and deathboy is not onscreen because he just died. This is a fight where you lost 4-5 people for one kill. It started near ice and you lost several reds and kept coming back on alts. You got me because you were running away and turned on me and got a kill. It was a fair kill and it's my own fault. But it's definitely not what you're claiming it is. I hope for your sake you were trolling when you called it a 3on7 and six SL on that screenshot.

So draw two more SL in that picture or shut the fuck up you cardboard eater.

All kinds of mad in this thread now. lol

What was it that I was making up again?

The champ spawn plat pump that was going on wasn't getting raided for the simple reason that it was easier to just take part with 3x accounts each. Now that it's not so easy to pump it out, they are run more covertly in tighter groups because the PKs aren't there already 3x Corp Por'ing their way to more ethereals and runebooks. hahah

Also, I'm sorry napo, but of course you don't agree with my perception of PKs being dicks. Sorry if that choice of adjective rubs you the wrong way. If the only way to profit with PvP skills is looting other players dry, that is a negative action. While the spoils of war in factions are nice, no sack of regs is going to buy the guild castle and no amount of barbed armor is going to fund events very well.

In any case, I appreciate that you don't think there's room for a potentially positive way to earn a living as a fighter. Having opinions is wonderful.

What? I'm not sure where you go sometimes with your paraphrasing. Killing people for their things is being a dick. It's part of the game that I welcome and actually require, much like stealing. I do however feel there is room for balance and providing a system that encourages combat for profit that isn't simply taking what you want from those you beat down, would be a good thing.

Don't you have some bugs to abuse or something? You seem like maybe you're losing touch with your game. hahah

If you think that's played out, just imagine how it sounds every time we see you say "this is embarrassing for you".

    lol

number 5 is just mothoron casting an ebolt - this is really obvious. The three of you cast exp -eb on me. This screenshot is the killshot and their ebolt text is still on the screen.

watch, I can do it too

How about each Faction gets some sort of combat buff or bonus. They each also get a Sigil in their base. If you capture and return another Factions Sigil to your base you get their buff as well and deprive them of it. You also get access to special Factions vendors in your base when you have at least one other team's Sigil at your base. I'm pretty stoned and I only read the first page but I thought I would throw it out there.

PS: The amazing photoshopjob ^ is trippy as all hell.

Yes, I'm well aware of when you are your team obtained the majority of your points. I was there when Liberation was PMing me asking me to lead the TB faction because they had a bunch of noobs. This was the time you guys farmed the majority of your points, you can continue to act like you got 70 points off killing worthwhile targets, everyone knows better. Yes, I farmed points from one dexxer to the other when I swapped from Minax to TB then back to Minax, I didn't want to lose the points I earned. However, you can absolutely check now and see that my points are cleared on both my dexxers and all the remains are the 20 some odd I have on my mage from when I was active with him. I don't need to "farm" points from alts, just like I'm sure you could have earned those 70 some off points off of worthwhile pvpers, but you seem to forget this era of factions:

Congratulations on the 3v1. I never called you a noob, all I said was that I didn't believe that you would ever solo considering I've never seen you without an entourage. I guess you proved me soooo wrong with that one screenshot. /golfclap "good job dood"
Personally I think you do a great job leading SL and give you a lot of credit for taking a lot of what used to be newcomers to pvp and turning them into great group pvpers. You can continue to think that I'm the asshole here but you're the one taking cheapshots at me when I'm just trying to have a discussion about how to fix the stagnant pvp scene.

Yeah because a fight for sigils isn't a set up fight? You really think that sigils, with the automated bot you have in your guild chat, is a spontaneous fight? You know exactly what time the sigils are up and what time they are stolen. Taking and defending sigils are just another form of a set up fight. Whether you want to acknowledge that or not, it is what it is. I've never claimed to be a badass or that I solo armies, on the contrary I actually said I shy away from those fights since I prefer not to be a loot pinata. When my guild comes back from their vacation then I'll be more than happy to be out there running with them again. Until then I'll stick to looking for 1v1's or 1v2's or CTF's.

Let's be honest here, if someone wants to take cooked sigils that are just sitting there unguarded then how does that impact the server so negatively like you are making it sound that it does? Any noob can train to 80 magery, buy some regs, and join a CTF where all they do is healbot for 1 or 4 plat a night. I strongly believe that once an incentive as small as 1 plat per sigil is instilled it will drive some new faces into factions. Even if it's just a handful of thieves, at least the sigils will see some movement outside of your IRC BOT telling you exactly when to move the sigil from point a to point b.

While we're on the subject, let's talk a little about your IRC BOT. If you don't think it's a detriment to faction pvp that you guys have a bot that gives you timing on sigils without having to actually be in the game checking (like you are intended to do) then you're on some outer space koolaid, bud.

Yes, thank you Blaise, for making my point for me.
You pointed out that champ spawns weren't being raided because it was more profitable to band together. In the same breath you are arguing that factions needs monetary incentives.
Champ spawns are a pvp related activity that went off the rails because it was more profitable to band together and farm the system than to fight over it. Factions is a pvp system that you want to be profitable, and for some reason you don't think people will band together and farm the system rather than fight over it even though there is a precedent for such a thing staring everyone in the face.

It will be the same thing. If there is profit to be had, it's easier to band together to farm than it is to fight over it.

Setting Blaise aside, looking at the rest of the thread, this is exactly the reason why pvp is stagnating. Do you blame new blood for seeing this kind of thing and deciding to stay out of it?
There's nothing that Telamon can patch in to dispel the bickering or bring civility back.

Putting the sigils in a different spot won't help, turning factions into champ spawns 2.0 won't help. It's a community solution, and people are avoiding this truth because they know it's too hard to fix. You want Telamon to fix a problem (that he can't fix btw) because it's easier than the alternative.

We sure do. It looks at the faction status page on this site that is available to everyone and announces when sigils change hands.
Lib has made attempts to introduce it to public channels so that it's available to everyone, but the outcry is so great every time he has tried that its had to retreat back to the SL channel.

That said, I am never in IRC and I just go to the faction stone to figure out what's up with the sigs.

Yes they do. And contrary to what napo has said, that bot was not something Telamon intended when he created the faction status page.

Matter of fact, that faction status page has been changed to no longer reflect sigil changes. There was an old faction status page that I thought Lib's bot was using and I reported that to Telamon, he promptly nuked that page. Considering the bot is STILL working I'm assuming Lib must have found a workaround to Telamons attempts to break his bot.

Either way, it takes away from the intended way you're supposed to work sigils.. by physically checking in game. If an enemy faction ninjas the sigils after the guarding faction decides to call it a night then an IRC bot shouldn't be the one to come save the day by reporting when the sigils were grabbed by the enemy.

napo, I commend you for not taking advantage of the irc bot, the fact it exists is disheartening enough. If I ninja the sigils after you guys leave them in your base unguarded only to have an IRC bot rat me out it takes a lot of fun out of the sigil game.

Making the bot public is not the answer, breaking it is. There should be only one way you know when/were/how the sigils were moved and that's by recalling around in game to ascertain where they are.

Must be Mes didn't have his recall hot key setup! Get my jabs in when I can.

Factions are fun here and even though I'm frequently dirt napped I still come back for more. I just try to ignore the petty shit and try not run into an SL trap.
Most new wanna faction people here are probably intimidated by the groups running around. Server has some great pvpers which makes it a tuff hill to climb. Some can't handle being owned over and over till they get better. People need a good group to run with and learn from. Getting a decent group together or joining an existing one that will let you in isn't easy.
