I think having alts that are dead or hidden in dungeons is abuse of utilizing three accounts.

    Constantly see this.

    Sieara and alt pk 'it'

Ghosting is def blatant cheating and abuse imo also. I have left a server because of this was so abused you did not even have a chance.

    Hiding....not so.

If you die in a dungeon your ghost should be visible and trackable perm till you leave the dungeon.

Hiding in a dungeon you be able to track them, if not.........

Hide all day, could care less.

Using someone to hide forever in a dungeon so they can recall in with their pk is different. Same as ghosting imo.

If you're not playing the char.. they shouldn't be able to be used as a homing beacon.

Pretty sure in the rules it already states that "Ghosting" is in fact against the rules and that is the dead ghost alternative scoping out an area. While I dont necessarily see it as an issue it seems to be an issue. When a person uses an alt to hide and sneak in a dungeon to scope it out, it is not cheating because that character is discoverable and killable.

Why is this brought up anyway?

Apparently someone has been ghosting and just executed them, presumably not for the first time. And they're aware the accounts are somehow linked and are throwing a complaint out there.

Had a ghosting incident. I know its not "allowed". Thanks for your input.

The hiding thing is a jab against running multiple clients in an abusive manner.
Running multiple clients shouldn't be used in that manner.

Hope to see you wis quas every corner of a dungeon one day. Bet that happens a ton.

Plus Im not a pk.. I find your unused hider in a dungeon.. do I throw holiday snowballs at him? Or just leave knowing his pk will be around in minutes.
    Its stupid.

Carry on with your issues you care about.

It's certianly an issue. It's just a tricky one to counter. If ghosting is reported they can investigate and take sanctions. If it's a bit more grey then some staff may investigate but it's harder to do sanctions. Whats more, multiple accounts is often used with limits to encourage a potentially larger visible player pop on freeshards and also to encourage more variety of skills and character types beyond the limits of a single account. It's a pretty major part of freeshard health but is certianly a hard issue to deal with. Generally staff oversight(IE, the human touch) is the "best" method but far from the easiest. They can't exactly just randomly promote staff helpers to help track things(This risk abuse and outcries of it's own) so have to weigh what best matches their time to spend on enforcement issues to what players want to get away with.

If you suspect someone is ghosting in a dungeon (or anywhere else for that matter) I highly recommend paging a gm immediately. Just use the "Help" button on your paperdoll.

Three generally shitty things you can do with Alts that impose 0 risk for the user/abuser and great benefit:
GM Tracking/Razor Macro looping for players. You can drop a home practically anywhere and keep a 24/7 platinum paid monitor running constantly. While it will likely make others fairly bent out of shape, I suggest restricting the Tracking Skill, when used in a house, to only track within that house. In order to track outdoors, one must actually BE outdoors. While this would impede safe training for players, I daresay it's much of a burden at all.

    Hiding/Tracking in dungeons:
Not really a huge deal however annoying and also not legally manageable by players. In order to stop someone from idling a Tracking/Hiding alt in a dungeon or overworld, you need to commit murder. I suppose in ideal circumstances you could Reveal and lure a mob over but if they're really watching that's a bust anyway. This one, I think, isn't such a big deal really and if you're crafty, you can turn it into the following rather swiftly.

    Ghosting in dungeons:
Absolutely agree that any idle ghost outside of a house region beyond the time of the corpse decay should be moved to the nearest Shrine or any random Virtue Shrine in the game (obviously Chaos if red). As of now, this has to be manually managed by administration. I hope for their time's sake, they code something to manage it for them.

This. Authorities have publicly looked down upon ghosting and taken/threatened action. Report it.

You cannot ghost dungeons/spawns/PvM hotspots as per the server rules, you can report this and the ghost will be moved and the owner spoken to.

You CAN ghost PvP hotspots like faction bases, bucs den, towns.

You CAN ghost peoples homes, although I believe they are implementing spirit speak to reveal ghosts in homes.

You CAN use blue tracker scouts to assist in PK runs. However, the majority of PKs will have tracking as their 7th skill. So the way most PKs are operating now, even though you may really think it's through ghosting, is by gating hotspots and tracking players. Gate Ice -> Track -> Seek & Destroy.

IMO tracking is a little too powerful and makes PK runs easier.

Ghosting happens here, and the people who do it will only get removed if they're caught. They may get a minor "oh you guys" talking to about it but it will happen regardless.
And even when it is not, you can be easily tracked.

My advice is to take steps to protect yourself in the future.
    Here are some tips
    1) Have a well-rehearsed recall procedure. It's one thing to think "oh I'll recall when I see a red" and another to have a plan. Be ready to recall immediately when you see reds, have a good easy to reach macro, and have a rune in mind to be clicked on. If you want to be particularly safe, create a razor macro that casts recall and targets the rune for you so you can be out in a single keystroke.
    2) Be familiar with tracking and how it works. Those that don't ghost will use tracking. You can take some steps to hide yourself from tracking, hiding and stealth make you harder to track and are good skills if you can fit them in. Hiding is particularly useful, especially if you are a bard. I suggest staying hidden as much as possible if you are killing monsters with provoke or blade spirits.
    3) Learn your reds. Certain groups ghost, certain groups don't. I can't actually tell you which groups do ghost extensively without turning the thread into a propaganda filled hellscape, but if you die and notice a ghost watching you report the ghost and make a little mental note of which group it was that pked you. If you see that group pking in the future, you know to spend some time at home while waiting for them to get bored.

As far as I know, whenever a ghost is in a dungeon, hunting area and no body around, staff will remove the ghost if you p.m. them.

I don't think it is fair to staff to imply they will only do a " They may get a minor "oh you guys" I am not familiar with the actual procedure,
but am confident that staff has something in mind for repeat offenders.
