UO:Renaissance - Thieving perfected (ongoing thread)

This way of communicating with me has quite some style. Need some kind of Batsign in the sky.

So, I pass Yew Bank and Baron, our beloved warez trader, in order to check the 5D vendors for a fish steak assault (see here for reference: http://uorforum.com/threads/something-big-coming.10080/) and recognize Rezon and somebody else standing there. Quick check for fish steaks (no fish, Basoosh just pranked me), turn around, hide and stealth over to Baron and his two customers in order to check for illegal trade goods exchanged. I manage to hear the one guy say "thanks" and Rezon saying "watch out for BlackEyE". *snoop* A fruit basket! Being polite I first say "Hi" and take the fruit basket with me. Mama always said, eat your fruits daily 'cause they are healthy nutrition for stealthy thieves.

I like that Nna and you both have 2 interior deco tools.

Coincidence or is there a bigger scheme behind it? Nice observation skills anyway.

Starting a short routine sweep through our beloved realm, I happen to come upon familiar faces at the Kos Heb spawn. Obviously Clam and MikeT were trying out their multi-tamer management skills and pull of a "2/3 Vella screwdriver" through the undead spawn (difficulty level: 4 of 10).



Well well well, the whole procedure didn't look very smooth, to be honest. But everybody is a beginner once, I guess, and practice makes the master. Anyway, there was a pair of shiny plats waiting for me.



So, I got the plats, but was revealed. However, the communication between the two wasn't to good or MikeT simply decided to stay at the spawn. Good for me, and one slayer more in my vault.

Okay, yesterday was a long gaming day and pulling an (European) all-nighter was totally worth it. Honestly.

It started with the usual fun at hot spots, e.g. disrupting a diseased blood elemental kill attempt by stealing a lvl5 map, wands and regs. Steve Irwin even had to call in Drbigs as support.



I continued my dungeon check and happened to come across a KoS Champ spawn attempt. They seemed to have some smaller problems in Destard at the Rikktor spawn though. Some corpses were around.



However, they got some routine and quickly reasonable fast advanced the tiers. I stole some thousand gold pieces from dropped players, but somehow never got any attention. Why don't people wonder when so much gold is disappearing? Good for me.



I stopped myself to steal more small stuff and watched their struggle for roughly an hour to spawn and defeat Rikktor. When he was finally up, he caused quite some havoc within the KoS ranks. Additional help leechers arrived and they figured out to agro control Rikktor and BS'd (aka Bullshit) his health down.



Then something weird happened. His health dropped down to 4%. I got into position between several marks. The final hits were nearing, but people stopped casting BS?! The amount of blade spirits dropped so fast, that agro control was broken. Rikktor moved in one direction attacking something, which lead to half of the blade spirits attacking the other players. From one second to another nearly everybody was dead. Without any plats in their bags.



I re-positioned near the surviving players and hoovered my fingers above my hotkeys. Finally after roughly 2 hours, I would get MY plats. Tiny, shiny, EVIIIIIL plats.

Rikktor dies. *press hotkey*. FAIL. I was standing there, revealed, ashamed, speechless. I failed and Senzek ran away. Most others hadnt any plats.



Well, no time to give up. There is much gold laying around and many dropped players too. I got my ethereal mount out and got what I could. It was a berzerker steal rage (well, actually a loot rage, cause stealing doesnt work).



And then, roughly 10 minutes after Rikktor dropped, the impossible happened:



I got KoS' Rikktor skull as trophy! It will find a good place in our guild home. I am certain of that.

On a particularly slow afternoon, I began making my usual rounds to the various banks of the land. Not long after arriving in Occlo, Blackeye informed me that players were beginning to gather in T2A in order to run a champ spawn. Having never done one of these before, I was a little reluctant to join him.

Pardon my lack of screenshots at the actual Champ but I was a little overwhelmed to say the least. We spent the better part of the next hour or two trying not to run into one another or have other players run over us while we stealthed around. Having been my first Champ spawn I was in the entirely wrong spot when the Boss finally spawned. I made it there just in time to position myself next to one of the Ladys as she was receiving her great platinum reward. As quickly as she received it, she DIED from the boss's last breath! To my surprise, on her body lay her 5 platinum and a beautiful red skull of death! I quickly scooped them up and jumped through a portal that took me to the bank. Under the guidance of Blackeye, I quickly cleared the area as to not be detected.


After going blue, I returned to the bank to stash the goods and inform the concerned citizens on the location of their prized skull. Russell took it upon himself to murder me with hearing of this news but my platinum and skull were already secured,

Grats on the pull Dimas! Even though last night I was raging a bit but overall that's why this is the best game - anything can happen

Yea, I've heard those tentacles have 10 plat everytime you steal from them, and you can just stralth right up to them to boot.

Have to pop in and reply to the leeching accusation. It's true I didn't work the spawn but I okayed it with the KoS before sticking around to help. For what it's worth I didn't even notice there was a thief at that Rikktor.

Right you asked very politely. It was more about the fact that from one moment to another the amount of players doubled, many not asking. This was good for me btw, so I looked like another newcomer.
