I'm curious how people have their Forts setup. There seems to be a few different ways to really go about laying out the space. If you have a fort and don't mind, please post screenshots of your setup. Thanks
Pretty simple. The blue/green crates are my drop for unsortred/ID'd loot. The restock area is a stool trap to safe gate chars in and out. Everything outside the main big room is decorations which will be revealed in the deco contest!
@Animal Control wow...... It would be 1 thing if those were just backpacks and bags, but all those movement blocking chests omg how do you not go crazy!
i cleaned up Like ten chests of leather armor, 15 kegs of explode, maybe 20k each reg, and ~2000 of each heal/refresh/cure, maybe 500 mana drain/gheal wands off the floor
Entrance with a couple secures to quickly drop off bods. Inner gate safe zone. Doesn't allow you out into the CY (but allows you to enter the house easily from the CY) and doesn't allow you to to access the rest of the house (again, easy access back into this area). The metal chests are all secures, nothing in this area can be looted if someone takes one of my gates they can just chat with me for a while if they'd like. Resources area, regs/kegs/ingots/etc. All lockdowns. Crafter area (with secures for bod books). Armor Weapons Left side is mining operations, right side is TMap operations. I really don't use the rest of the fort because it's too much of a pain to get around.
Thanks, guys. I notice a couple of you have the catwalks build with the runner pieces. What's the reasoning behind them?
Middle runners allow you to create your own floor plan. You could do it with footstools as well but what makes middle runners so amazing is how nicely they come together and create a good looking floor. They allow you to create floor space where there was none before and open the door for many creative applications. My own setup was very organic, all starting with just this tiny little bridge: So here on a basic level these runners are giving me like 20 additional tiles to my fort, and also creating the shortest and most efficient path between the 2 spire roof tops. I just kept adding and adding until eventually I got to a point where I only am on the roof and never have to bother going inside. I do fear that someday my fort will collapse while I fiddle fart around on the bridge.
Stools are ugly. Benches almost perfectly cover them up. There are a lot of options in terms of ways to cover up the stools, its just a matter of preference. Pillows can work well, benches, cloth (I wonder how folded cloth would look?).... etc.
Thanks for the ideas. I'm just starting to move in. This is all I've got so far. Map sorting color coded so the number of letters in the name of the chest color match the level (i.e. Blue is 4, Green is 5, Purple is 6)
