Do I need to feed my mounts if I'm not planning on using them for combat? do they go wild if I don't feed them?

also, is food only useful for health regen on our own character or does it also affect the skill gains

    thanks <3

I've never had a mount from a non-tamer go wild on me, I've idled for hundreds of hours on various characters so I don't think you need to worry about it. If you ever give them lots of commands, then it wouldn't hurt to give them an apple or something.

As for food, it does not affect skill gains at all, most players have all their characters starving 100% of the time.

I don't know all the specifics but I'm pretty sure your mount will never go wild while you are riding it. If you are using a mare in combat then you'll need to feed it once in a while. But if you're riding a horse, I wouldn't worry.

I believe even just the guard me command a handful of times has the same function as food for pets. Won't go wild while mounted though.

Have you ever fed a pet aged smoked leg jerky though?

    It makes them happier!

Feed them once, they'll love you. Feed them twice 24 hours later, they'll love you long time (i.e. pet bonding).

According to @Gideon Jura 's guide on food, it only affects health regen, diabetes and gastric disorders, not skill gain. http://uorforum.com/threads/guide-to-food-optimizing-your-nutrition-to-supercharge-your-avatar.6470/
