Well taking the current market rates for both items into account, 4 boards per ingot would be fair.

I guess I better get to mining. More people want to be blacksmith then carpenters I guess. Or does GM BS take more ingots then it takes boards to get GM Carp? I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the info Wodan.

GM BS takes lots of ingots and those last few points have REALLY high variance. You can't really rely on the guide estimations here. My carp/bs have all been around 60-80k, iirc.

Once you are GM and filling bods for fun/profit you will incinerate ingots, so the demand is great. The price is also based on the NPC selling ingots for 8 gp. [not sure what npc sells boards for]

I like to wait until I have more than enough to cover my character before I start working a crafting skill. IMHO, I wouldn't start with out 80k iron.

I'll trade you at 1 ingot : 4 boards later on if you're still interested.

Can I ask what ingots sell for per? And boards per?

Nah. Mid-level mining is a bit of a PIA. Not only do you have to lug the ore back to a forge (boards can be field-cut) you then have to deal with even quantities of 4 different ingot shapes which makes the smelting macro painful. It gets more fun after you GM, get gargoyle pickaxes from iron BODs and start digging up stone golems.

On the other hand, you can mine the rocks in the ground. You don't have to find a mountain. So that's handy.

Boards generally go for 2g. You can get up to 3g each if you're willing to wait it out with a vendor.
Ingots generally go for 8g. You can get up to 9g each if you're willing to wait it out with a vendor.
