*BRAVO* This tale wreaks all around, in the most magnificent meaning of the word! I have never used my olfactory senses so much while reading a tale. Also, I noticed a sharp decline in housing Minoc properties, now that the cat's out of the bag about the stench! *makes note to watch for more tales about the Northern Company*
Moving like quicksilver, Hamish feinted a hard charge, stomping his foot and cocking his fist. The miner bit hard on the bait and lunged ahead, throwing himself out of position as Hamish pivoted smoothly on his left foot. Behind explosive breaths, the miner was punished with a compact straight punch to the mouth and two stitching jabs that cut him under the eye. Before he could recover, Hamish stepped out and slid off to his left.
Amazing writing so descriptive. This paragraph especially stood out to me. I didn't know nightshade was a drug! Did you make this up or is it some strange bit of ultima lore you discovered?
I love writing stories based in UO world and taking a great deal of Artistic license to redefine certain elements or aspects of the realm that aren't really defined any other way. No can prove or disprove that nightshade is a drug in UO, but MaRae has now solidified it's ancillary uses. Also, it is often used as a plant decoration in UO home decorations, so it leads me to believe this is the most suitable purpose for NS outside of casting night sight and poison
Cheers. I scribe only what I see. A cultural phenomena isolated to the "true" North, no doubt. I had not previously encountered this practice of smoking the plant, but it seemed effective. Hamish was exceptionally stoned.
