Close call. Seemed like the dude was established. Would of sucked to lose his house.

Noob question: is there another reason than provoking fights and wars that one would publish an IDOC other than keeping it to himself and loot as his pleasure?

I myself wouldn't ever advertise an IDOC, would try to get all I could by myself, haha. Are there some ethics to it? I don't know, please tell me.

Erlkonig has since edited the first post but originally stated that the timers were not convenient to his schedule.

It's out of spite. He advertises the IDOCs he either can't make or one's he knows won't end in his favor.
I don't IDOC anymore so I couldn't care less, but it's widely considered the slimiest thing to do within IDOC circles.

So, he should just let them fall in the hopes no one will find them ever?

Oh, people know about them, he's announcing it in hopes his competitors don't get the win.

Among people who regularly hung out at houses hoping that the owners quit and left the shard, it's good to know that some of you feel like you were still taking the high road the whole time. Way to not be slimy!

I dont understand the "high road" concept.

There is a limited amount of land mass where houses can be placed.

There is a limited amount of open housing spots currently especially for larger houses.

From what I have been told there is a recent large influx of new players, me included.

How are us "new guys" supposed to get homes that arnt 8x8 garbage unless people either forget their houses or leave the server? Once you place a house should you be entitled to it forever no matter if you log on or not? Until the end of server days?

I bought my UOR home from an (assumed)IDOCer and Im very greatful. I wouldnt have found the spot on my own.

Yes I know that the IDOCers do it for mostly self serving reasons but there is still benefit to be had by doing so.

Plus....hey who doesnt like a chaotic fun IDOC with random PvP and scurrying for loot? Its like the vendor grab-bags on a bigger scale you never know what you might get!

This coming from someone who has actively IDOC'd in the past and even looted my fort, it hurts, hurts so much. Think I'll lose sleep tonight.

I've personally never understood how people look down upon idoccing. Houses are going to fall, that's why there's a decay cycle. This is all part of the game and the way it was designed and intended to be played. Those that are in the business of hunting IDOCs take to it just as others would take to fishing or hunting or mining. It's an aspect of the game.

IDOC'in is usually done by well established people who covet pixels. They'll place housing and sell it at a premium afterwards. I don't think IDOC'in is slimy picked over or decayed all the same to me... I always hated seeing someone else's hard work plundered and knowing that they probably quit.

What does TT have to do with any of this? If you're going to trash talk us, at least have the balls to do it on your main forum account you spineless pussy.
