So what's the deal with tactics? By that I mean I've now GM'd Fencing and Archery on the same character and it's still only at 97.9. Is its difficulty different from the weapons skill? What's the best way to top it off? Thanks.

Just keep swinging away... It's really slow. Maybe move a little bit to see if that knocks it loose.

Weapon skill can gain simply by the attempt whereas tactics is only checked for gains upon a "hit." So no, tactics is not easier or quicker to GM than the weapon skill.

If you want to get the quickest gains for tactics I would recommend hitting a target that has 0 wrestling, and make sure you are applying aids often. Equip yourself with a dagger or skinning knife. The point being here is that you will 'hit' a LOT more often on a target with 0 wrestle which in turn gives you more tactics checks for skill gain.

I think you need to know more weapon skills.
