That's very subjective and highly circumstantial. If you're headed down the usual "I solo a mmorpg" road, go with discordance first. Then make another with provocation. Some roll with both and drop meditation. The original server as well as this one sets a bar for pure pards via "barding difficulty". Not for you though... a tamer has no bar! With straight provocation, you will have a ceiling. Discordance has a higher (albeit slightly) chance of functioning on mobs considered "above the bar". In some cases, a well landed discord increases the chances of landing a follow up provocation.
Provo will be better for soloing most things, but neither are actually necessary. Drop music and provo/disco for Resist + Wrestling/Eval/Tracking Your build really depends on what you plan to do with it, not what is "best" - if you plan on doing tmaps with a carto/lp, then get music/provo if you don't plan on running a third account. If your plan is to farm liches or titans, get resist/eval. In the long run, you'll probably end up making one of each
A provo tamer is a more than solid char for basically every pve aspect, if it comes down to farming, champ spawns or assisting other characters / templates A disco tamer specializes in killing BIG Monsters as it will lowers theyr stats and makes them fairly weak. Ever wanted to farm Ancient Wyrms? Disco them and see them melting under the feet of your dragons. Both templates have the potential to make HUGE amounts of money in literally no time as well as excelling at various other things. Its mostly up to your preference and what you want to do with your tamer. If i would have to pick one template though, i would go with the provo tamer, as it offers more versatility for general tasks.
Provo tamers are better suited for champ spawns and t-maps.... Disco tamers are better suited for almost anything else. I personally use an eval/resist tamer as my main tamer just because of the flexibility it provides. My secondary tamer is a disco tamer. I call him in for boss mobs mostly, as he makes very short work of powerful monsters.
If you want your first tamer to be a bard/tamer I would definitely say make him with provocation! In areas crowded with monsters a provo tamer will eat through mobs like butta! Disco is nice too but as has been said its best for boss monsters etc. In certain aspects personal preference prevails as well. As your first tamer with a provo bard you will be able to go through groups of mobs without using as many aids/as much mana healing your pets. Although you wouldn't get the benefit of disco lowering the monsters attributes you will have them beating on each other while your drags beat on them so it is a point to argue which one is better except for of course when you only have one monster to fight. Hi, welcome to our crazy, fun world. I don't have a developed tamer yet, but do have a mage/provoker. She works quite well on most things I try. Slayer weapons assist with the big bad boys/girls of the monster realm. Hope this helps somewhat.
