Everyone's thoughts on looting and horse killing

I've been in order for about a week and have had about a month playing time on this server. One thing I have noticed besides the constant ganks is the practice of dry looting Rez killing and horse killing. I get that this is fel and my corpse is just the spoils of war but do you guys not want more pvp? With looting me dry and killing my horse you are slowing me down from fighting again. Honestly I'm not a rich player at all so I'm kinda going broke over it.

I feel like with this practice of Rez killing/dry looting/ and horse killing you are stuttering the growth of pvp on this server. Most of you have been here a lot longer then I have and will most likely have a better opinion on it.

I understand this was all part of the old uo but with a population of our size and maybe 100 pvpers? This really does stop new players from joining in on the fun IMO

I would like to get a discussion going this forum will not be a place of judgement if you have beef please post it somewhere else I just want to try and get a honest conversation about this topic

I personally don't kill peoples horses after i pk them unless i don't like you, but it does seem to be a common practice among some here. As for dry looting i don't normally do that either i Pk for gold and nice items not some shitty barbed armor but if its an actual "pvp" fight ill loot the reg/pot bag..

I hope this is not the mentality of some of the pvpers on this shard but, even if it is. I still would like to hear there opinion on the matter even if it is "get better scrub" I just would like to know some people's thoughts on this matter

This all depends on the player. Some are headstrong on playing strict Fel rules while others will yield to a more "courteous" playstyle. I would also add that this is all dependent on the situation too. There are dozens of scenarios where I would understand dry looting, rez killing, and mount killing. I also understand your argument as to why you would like to see less of it.

I've PK'd people who've begged me mid midblast spam to not kill their pets. While looting their body they sac-rezzed and put their pets on me. I think twice about that now.

At the end of the day there are a lot of variables that persuade or dissuade a player from doing all or any of the above. At the end of the day you're also only losing about 2-3k in regs, 3k barbed suit, and a 550gp horse (maybe 2k in pots and wands too). When you compare this to a post-ren insurance activated shard you end up losing the equivalent in gold costs there as well. If you're a dexxer and losing weapons and/or magic armor then I would suggest gearing up with what you can afford until you get better at survival, or just play a stun mage like everyone else.

Yeah i understand there are situations when you do rez/loot/horse group pvp and all that. but when its a group vs 1 player it does not really make sense to do it. yeah it may only cost around 5k to regear but when that same thing is happening 5-6 times a day it does take a toll on gold taken out. maybe this helps gold inflation i dunno. but from my point of view it really does hinder pvp when it will take me an additional 20-25 minutes just to return to the fight. once again these are my opinions and i know some of you may feel differently so please post your thoughts! i would love to hear them

I don't think it is often the goal to have more fights. It seems the goal is more to stick it to someone as hard as you can. Personal grudges and those just by association.

I've yet to do any pvp on this server, but back on osi/ea as long as the fight was fair and there was no grudge going on I would almost always cast a rez and leave. I never looted much because we had 100% lrc and didn't have to carry regs. My thoughts were always to be nice because If you run off everyone interested in pvp then who are you going to fight?

This is UO, and what makes UO fun is the choice to do whatever you want. Why engage in PVP if you cant afford to die? Can you honestly say you havent dry looted or rez killed, or horse killed on here before? I really dont see a point PKing someone if there isnt some kind of reward, monetary or not. Then people would just go around using regs to kill people and rez them, what fun is that. Why even bother PKing in the first place. Kind of kills all the thrill if there's no risk involved.

My adrenaline pumps hardest in fights when I have an expensive weapon, or plat on me.

this was more in regards to pvping in factions or chaos/order I don't really have any thoughts on pks. But when fighting in factions/chaos order there are only a handful pvping so when you rez kill dry loot and horse kill you prolong another fight. If the goal is to limit pvp and not see as much action then it makes sense to do these things

Some people simply wont follow any rules of etiquette, even not if youre engaging them in a fair fight or youre clearly outnumbered.

Well, everybody is free to play this game like he wants...
But generally speaking... screw them.

At least there is something to remind me the next day why this game is as awesome as it is if it manages to get me on tilt in certain situations...
Overall i believe its a good thing, but that doesnt prevent me to get realy angry from time to time.

So youre looking for no loot, no grief, field duels?

I understand that sometimes looting is necessary when you have big open engagements with other factions or even chaos and order. but when there is a single person running around getting killed by other players. why would you want to loot and prolong the fighting? i personally would let them loot and heal. get into another fight and continue the action. i just feel like with a server with low population looting/horse killing does not benefit anyone. Amph i would just like to see the pvp community on this shard grow from the way it is now i dont think that is possible. what are your thoughts?

Lol this thread! I have and always will get my 2 minutes of rage....but not because I get ganked or watch myself get looted.....its right when i see the people here cast bs on my pets lol....yea thats right people, I WILL HAVE MY 2 MINUTES...1..........2......! Restock.

As far as dry looting, meh I honestly expect it. Im not sure why but 97% of the reds and the occasional blue greifer do it. I always leave the rune, 3 recall regs and invis regs (unless your the blue greifer....then run ur ass to town). When im pking I want to person I killed to get ressed, restocked and back to doing what they were doing as fast as possible.

Guess best answer I have came up with is........... This is uo and thats y we love this game lol. Full loot was made just for this reason, to make people be devoted to their characters with a little rage from time to time.

I now completely expect both of these actions to keep happening and I will deal with it like I always have lol......2 minutes!

Seems Amph is the twin brother of the guy on the photo.
He can't understand how thing are going while rezkilling, horse killing and dry looting.
By doing that u minimize the luck for people to stay and keep pvping.

While I do not agree with amph I respect his opinion and I am happy he posted. It is very nice to hear other people's opinions on the subject.
Kermit, you and I share a similar opinion but I have to ask you not to tease amph in here. I just wanted to hear different peoples thoughts and perspectives on looting/rez/horse killing. With that said other people with different opinions on this subject please post in here I really want to hear what you have to say.
