I'd first like to point out a few things before I tell this quick story:
    1. I'm not mad/upset/angry/rage quiting or anything along those lines. I'd simply like to expose a couple folks who clearly haven't read the code of conduct and haven't grown past their 12yr mind set.
    2. I'm not a newbie, but there was absolutely no way for them to know.

I was out mining, didn't have much of value on me, a few regs, shovels, ore. I did have some mining gloves (but fairly easily replaceable, I believe). Two blue characters, Vonix and Dragothien, run up to me and begin to attack. I attempt to recall but one keeps casting interrupts while the other casts explo/eb. After they killed me I reported them. Vonix said something along the lines of not rezing me because I reported. Dragothien ended up rezing me. Once alive I asked why they are killing helpless miners to which they responded with, go get your main and come fight us. This is where it gets ridiculous:

Me: I don't pvp, or have a 'main' that is pvp ready to come fight you
Vonix: Then I recommend a trammel server
Me: Don't tell me to go to a different server
Vonix: Then dont say you dont pvp =P
Me: ...I think your tactics of killing helpless miners is pitiful
Dragothien: Were cowards, teach us a lesson
    Me: I dont pvp...
    Vonix: Pussy?
    Me: I'm a pussy because I don't pvp?
Vonix: no...just a coward, afraid you wont be good so you dont try, failing sucks, no one likes to do it, so you avoid it by not trying.
    Vonix: Coward...by definition...LOL

Now lets quickly recap the Code of Conduct:
    • Treat other players in game and on the forums with respect.
    Harassment
    - We will not tolerate insults, attacks, threats, and/or denigration from any member on another member at any time.
    - We have zero tolerance for taking an argument about any topic to a personal level.
    - Name calling, repeated critical and sharply negative posts toward a member, flaming, or slanderous posts are not acceptable. • Obscenity - As a community with are a diverse group consisting of various age groups and gender, we ask that our members post without using vulgarity. - Vulgarity not only includes vulgar language and pictures but also sexist, racist, anti-religious and homophobic language which may offend other members. • Discouraging Gameplay Examples of discouraging game play: • Telling a player to get good or leave the server

After reviewing these code of conduct rules I'm interested to know/understand how what they did isn't against these rules.

PK'ing is not PVP for starters so not sure what they're trying to prove, especially when attacking a miner 2v1. Trying to drive people away or to another server is not ok for sure. @Chris

Sorry Captain, but murdering players is inherently pvp. Just because the target doesn't choose to fight back always, doesn't mean they aren't engaged in player versus player combat. It just means they are losing in an almost always lopsided conflict.

That said, these guys are hilarious for A) Assuming that fighting players is requisite for playing classic UO, B) Telling you to go play a Trammel shard because you won't come back on an alt (this is a double-whammy of embarrassing) to fight them and C) Calling people pussies when they're the ones out there murdering miners.

I personally can't wait to see these clowns in game so I can mock them in great detail.

Here's the thing. If they consistently play to simply ruin other people's experiences, and are reported to GMs about this, they will receive warnings. If they continue, they will be temporarily banned, and maybe even banned if it doesn't stop.

The griefers actions have to show that they are deliberately working to ruin other peoples' experiences. If this happens, repeatedly, you can keep reporting them. If it really gets severe, GMs have the capability and may shadow them and watch what's going on.

Most importantly, GMs need proof to do anything. If multiple players, that are not connected, report to GMs some action will be taken. If you happen to record them or get screenshots to support your case, that's great as well.

Telling someone to go play a trammel BAH! That hurts my heart a little bit. Bad business for this great shard. They should be ashamed, I wouldnt recommend trammel to my worst enemy. To the rest of it.... Im glad you shared. Trash talk is one of the finer points of this game IMO. Their talk game is garbage. They need put on blast. Hope I see em someday.

While I applaud your honesty, it's an odd decision to cite the Obscenity clause in the code of conduct when your second line in your own screenshot is "F*ck you".

Can I also ask, in the vein of honesty, what you hoped or expected to accomplish with the conversation you started after being resurrected?

I hadn't hoped to 'accomplish' anything. After being resurrected I was going to go about my day like any other time I've ever died in uo. When Vonix started spewing random nonsense (while I was dead), I figured I'd ask why he was being so outrageous. Thats when the 'get good, bring your main, fuck you, you suck, blah blah' started and thats when I decided to start taking some screen shots. I assure you I did not instigate any obscenities, but am perfectly fine dishing some out if some one starts with me.

Hard to tell what happened since you didn't include the screenshot where the conversation started.
If you ressed and started talking shit at them, it's not hard to see why an argument might have broken out.

Best not to talk to other players, people around here really will try to get you banned for hurting their feelings/killing them/etc. The rules are so vague that it doesn't take too much lawyering to get them to suit your ends in any situation.

I'm not trying to get anyone banned, nor are my feelings hurt by this interaction, nor did anything about this interaction impact my decision to continue to play here...

Strictly just disappointed that these types of people still behave like this, when their behavior today couldn't possibly encourage gameplay in any way to anyone. If I was for example a brand new player that interaction would have for sure made me consider moving shards, as I think almost anyone, who is new to this game, might feel.

The one thing I think a lot of the veteran folks seem to forget far too frequently is the fact that not everyone who plays UO is 'coming back' to it...I for one never really played on OSI, I visited a friend summer of 98 or 99 and he showed me this game. I rediscovered UO just a bit before UOR was started, I'm sure there are other players who have done this as well. The reason I point this out is that I had to LEARN what Felucia / Trammel was, I obviously prefer Fel (I'm still playing years later), however just because we play a Fel server doesn't entitle you do be a low life for histories sake.

Extreme example: if our society were to remove all laws regarding rape, that doesn't entitle you to go rape strictly because there are no repercussions to you...it's still a wrong and immoral thing to do.

There's been so much talk recently about banning, hurting feelings, killing, etc etc...What I can't seem to understand is how people don't see that being a PK/being a "Villian" in this game is perfectly acceptable and encouraged, but when you're tactics and/or purpose are set in a way to hurt others feelings or put other people down you're crossing a line that doesn't NEED to be crossed.

You can PK all day long and land on a range from super friendly PK (rez, gate back to town, give stuff back, etc) to a complete low life (rez killing, 'get good or leave', name calling after the fact, etc)...You can see that there is a difference on that spectrum right?

p.s. I did rez than state what I thought they were doing was pretty pathetic, because while I was being rezzed they started talking shit.

I have noticed that there are a handful more of seemingly more "youthful" players that have discovered UO:R recently. That's not a bad thing as a whole but I believe that's who you mostly get this type of action from, kids.
Nothing really to add other than to recommend not giving a wanna-be player killer any satisfaction or encouragement by trash talking of any kind. It only fuels their fire.
Like Pippin said, "don't encourage it"!!!!
Appreciate the info, I have a miner out there, too.

Whilst I totally get where your coming from IMHO your fatal mistake was accepting a ress then attempting a sensible and mature dialogue. I recently got griefed big time like all who go to Jehlom bull pens while raising taming. I decided the best form of response was to stand and die (fast) while pressing my *waves & cries* macro then stay in ghost form unseen until they'd gotten bored and left then go to town and ress.

If it happened again in quick succession I'd log off that char and do something else with another acc however if you feel the need to persevere with an activity try and protect yourself with something on the lines of what MikeK suggested recently as linked below using a separate acc character.

    http://uorforum.com/threads/how-to-not-get-pkd-guide.7500/

UO:R is brutally unforgiving but tbh I think that's why we're all here but whatever online game you play you'll always get idiots / smack chatters etc... however the admin's here are giving up their free time to manage this along with the overall running of server and even in the short time I've been gaming here I've seen them react to griefers where necessary but it's been done in a calm and quiet manner without any drama's played out in forums which is why I'm about to sub too.

This is fel UO. I EXPECT to encounter jackasses and their jackassery at all times and merely brush it off when it occurs.
