I said "this platinum", specifically implying the amounts noted in the complaints. Sorry you are having trouble comprehending that and felt the need to derail with inane commentary. So yes, thank you for showing me how detached you are from the conversation.

That was poorly expressed, my bad. I meant to say that I got the impression that the amount of work that goes into getting 200+ platinum is relatively small compared to other activities such as AMIBs and what have you. Especially if players are able to run these events fairly regularly in a closed instance that cannot be invaded (?) then 24x times the earnings compared to other methods does seem a bit inflated. But it's the truth that I haven't been in one of these things so I'm just taking people at their word/screenshot.

If it's such a controversial issue couldn't it be put to a vote and use the result as a guideline if changes to the system are in the cards?

I've been to harrowers before this current system, and if you arrive there during the 2nd phase, unless something was changed, there's no danger at all to be on a safe distance spamming Energy Bolt. If you make only to that phase and do that, on this current system, you'll still be able to gain within that scoreboard, if I'm not mistaken. That's also why it's possible to three box it. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

The shard is not a democratic state. Voting would be a good way to get an idea about opinions of people who use the forums.

The amount of work that goes into getting that platinum, is significantly more than AMIBs. Consider the fact that amibs are found, mostly, by people running 3x fishermen at full tilt simultaneously. Add to that the fact that when they get them, it's done dice. There's nothing you can do, aside from trying to steal them before they bank them (lol).

AMIBs have chances for rare drops, always give platinum, gold and items and are completely devoid of any tangible risk. I've done all four of them with a poison fencer character, solo (ie: they are not hard, yet are private and profitable).

Realistically, if any of you new players want to score some harrower plat all you have to do is routinely check the star room at 10 am CST (give or take an hour). The gate there will take you to the dungeon they're doing their harrower in and once you find it you can either sick pets in it and leave or ebolt it for a while (although you might get killed and have to keep coming back).

Oh look, 10 more harrower runs by the same guys in the last month. 10k platzzzz among 4-8 people. They sure deserve it, it was sooooooo competitive (to wake up at weird times and be jobless)! Isn't that a GREAT system, that has been tailored and perfected extra by our Staff? I am so glad, we don't have public harrowers anymore, which brought the whole shard together and created a feeling of community.

@RestOfUOR: And what are you peons doing? Still playing the oldschool way? Farming AOLs and Bloods?! LOL. Fishing? LOL. Collecting Zoo Quest pets? LOL. Battle mining? LOL. Rare hunting? LOL. Tmaps? LOL.

Someone sounds like their bitter and making a lot of assumptions about people's lives they are not a part of. lol

I no longer do Harrowers or Champs under the current system. I no longer encourage them in my guild, either.

It just invites too many issues and i'd rather forego the drama that inevitably arises under the current system.

Before, I did not have to constantly worry about someone being left out and upset or about someone not getting full plat when they felt they contributed more....and a whole slew of drama-related items. Under the new system, guild members constantly miss out as there's not room, or someone "feels" they don't deserve to be there, or some other reason. I'd rather log out than deal with that crap. We're supposed to be having fun.

The new system is a complete headache for anyone that wants to run with large numbers of people that change constantly and as such...I do not participate at all in it.

Btw, you can also see, that it only takes ~40 mins for them (them = the same 4-8 people, that I could name explicitly, but you should know them as a mixture of the "O^S champ crew" + parts of the local dominating IDOC group + parts of the ex-TB-factions people) to do the actual harrower.

Oh, and let me state one thing here: I mainly keep this topic on the front page from time to time, because this has been explicitly hand-crafted and patched in into UOR by Staff. It is not era-accurate at all and does not benefit the Shard in any way, IMHO. I don't see any perfection at all, and the time, when this will be changed or reverted, it probably won't matter at all, because then these 1%ers have become 0.1%ers and they will be swimming in easy earned platin coins like forever.

Time for another update of this "brilliant", "fair", "perfectly risk vs reward balanced", "absolutely not the other farming system destroying" Staff-made harrower event:

Since my last post in mid-june , the same 4-8 people did another 15 harrowers. Yes Sir, that is another 15,000 platinum coins for melking a game mechanic that has not been at all accepted by the whole UOR community (in fact it is nearly completely ignored by anybody else) in contrast to the previous harrower events in which nearly the whole Shard participated.

Okay so I usually don't comment much on the Harrower stuff, but....They did 6 of those in LESS than 4 HOURS!!! Holy hell, if it's that risky shouldn't it take a bit longer...? I mean I guess that's 40 minutes per but....and yes I know all the work of the champs blah blah but you get gold and plat there to so even though one leads to the other I still basically think of them as 2 separate types of events....

I mean I do tamer scrolls and they take FOREVER (way more than the 6-12 hours it takes to do all the champs) to find all those stupid rare animals (which you get no rewards for finding ie. gold, plat, skull, like you do with champs) and then that leads to the tamer quest where you get a slot and maybe a couple plat or maybe a chance at a mask (run 8 so far and have been on over 20 and only saw someone get the mask 2 maybe 3 times) after over an hours-2 hours work depending on how many people you take in. And they get 1K plat for 40 minute (or in one case 35 mins)...

Can even do it less than 40, and with good team 2 to 3 peeps. Crank out the spawns collect the skulls, pop 10 at once and make it rain!

Don't forget the hours it takes to farm the skulls

Keep tabs on who/when availability to do harrow erstwhile
