Player Of The Year Contest

hi all,

in the same way the house deco contest is held, i would like to trow the following idea on the table.

a player of the year contest. a system or just a forum voting where players can be voted to become the player of the year. it would only last for exactly 1 year. the nominee system would need to be engineered and the reward system could be as simple as:
- a 1 year lasting permanent (overruled by all tittles you can get in game) tittle like 'player of the year" (or to be chosen as free text (pegi16)
- a blessed hooded shroud, like the cool coloured ones GM's and counselors wear.
- of any clothing for that matter but rly something noticeable just from crossing the player in game...
- a blessed ice white hued Nightmare ethernal mount.
- anything unique and disposable after 1 year. (nothing matieral like a keep or fortress or money or whatever item remaining in game)
(the idea is to add a fun side to being just a cool person)

this item or reward, would be Unique and only possessed for 1 year. after that, the new player of the year gets to wear it.

this contest is in similar like the housing deco, but it shows and recognize 1 player's personality instead of wealth (stacked rares, collector items ect...)

just an idea rly. please share you thoughts & comments. if its bad, no need to be rude though

Sounds fun for those helper types! I know I do my share but I know there is greater helpers out there!

why does it have to be most helpful player? that sounds like it would favor they wealthier players.

why not to the player that "inspires" the shard.

could be a roleplaying orc for all we know =)

Nice idea, and thoughts on the thread.

But... I'm not for the concept. Simply because so many people do as much as they can, but real life keeps them for being in game a great deal. thus just simple due to "time in game" they would not be able to be on same level as someone who can be in game several hours or days a week, month.

You could do a vote, just for fun. Or ask players who they feel has inspired, helped them the most.

I think newme's got the winning idea here. A player IMHO thread about the most inspirational players. That could have some real potential for both entertainment and enlightenment.

Although it certainly has the potential of becoming a HUGE circle jerk, I do think that some players inspire others, and a special recognition would be nice for them.

being a decent person shouldn't be a competition

I totally agree with Wylwrk, however, going above and beyond and dedicating more of their time to the betterment of others and getting new players established, and on the right track, getting them in touch with the right info and the people to further their needs, spending time you and I would spend doing our thing and then some, etc., calls for some recognition. We all know who these people are and though they may not want the limelight, it would be nice to see something to encourage them in their efforts. Just my opinion but i have a couple people in mind who if not for them, I may have moved on.
