...all previous fishing trainer/macro posts I have made will point here, this is an effort to improve and consolidate. You can get to 100 Fishing on Land. "Deep Water" Fishing gives much faster gains, but has the chance to spawn monsters or run into already spawned monsters. Monsters will never spawn by Fishing from Land, and is one reason why I recommend using the Land/Dock method if you plan to gain AFK. (When you get to mid 90's you may as well hop on a Boat and get some loot! attended...) This Guide is designed to get you from 0- 99.9 Fishing Semi or completely AFK without being Jailed for AFK resource gathering. If by chance you run all the way to 100 without stopping the Macro and are Jailed for missing an AFK Gump at 100, you have NO chance of spawning a Serpent or pulling any reward from shallow water Dock Areas. If Jailed , ALL Info I have seen and heard suggested that the Staff would take this into consideration. I recommend being attended from the high 90's to avoid any conflict. ( You can adjust your skills so that you only have up too 99.9 downward pointed Skill to pull from, that way you cannot reach 100 unattended) Fishing here on UO:R is much like Fishing in Real Life, It can have long periods of slow and relaxing times(boring for some), followed by periods of intense Action and Excitement. Fishing has also undergone many changes, with added content and rewards! This Guide is meant to help you create a successful and fun Fishing Character(s), the first part of this Guide will focus on getting your Fishing Skill to 100. The rest of the Guide is to give you Bonus content and "Links" to everything fishing related possible. Fishing is not a Skill I would ever start at 50, it's not a difficult Skill to gain, just time consuming. In my opinion, Fishing is best gained AFK with as many possible targets(fish to catch) to speed you on your way to 100. Fishing in "Deep Waters" from a Boat is probably going to give you faster gains, but I believe this Dock method is much safer if you plan to gain while AFK. Lets get your aspiring Angler started...make a quick stop at the Bank and withdraw about 300 Gold, on to the Tinkers Shop to buy a "Sextant" if you don't use UO Auto Map, and finally we can make our way down to the Dock of your choice. The focus of this Guide is on new characters, so we are going to use Occlo as a base example. Just South of the Inn we gaze upon the Docks of Ocllo. Many scurvy Sailors inhabit the Docks, but we are looking for Fishermen. Once you have found a Fisherman, you need to purchase a "Fishing Pole" from him and politely ask him to "teach" you how to use it. Buy a Fishing Pole for about 15 Gold. 0 - 27+ Skill Buy Fishing from a Fisherman on the Docks by saying the NPC's "Name teach fishing" and dropping the "specified amount of Gold" on their Head. Since you were so polite to the Fisherman, he also decided to share his two favorite fishing spots with you. Use the "Sextant" you purchased at the Tinker Shop earlier, or UOAM to stand in one of these spots. You may also use this Macro on ANY South facing Dock in several other Towns as long as you are able to stand in the Specific "Casting Tile" in an 8x8 Grid as pictured below in the Big Grid Map. West Dock- 92o 59'S 163o 15'E East Dock- 92o 59'S 164o 23'E Checklist- Fishing Pole, Novice Fishing Skill, Lucky Fishing Spot, Ale..lots of Ale.. BS Detector for all the "Lies" you will hear from your new found fishing buddies(until the Ale runs out)..and a Lantern for Night Fishing, I feel an All-Niter coming on! Cast Away, and Happy Fishing... you'll be realin-in Big Monsters soon enough! Make an Empty Macro, Name it Dock Fisherman(Rt-Clk/Save), Copy and Paste the Macro below and start it up, it will hit 9 different spots, so even if you are competing with another fisherman for a few "Grids" it shouldn't slow you down much. To find your Macros on Win7 hit start- search " %appdata% " Select- "Roaming/Razor/Macros"..Find your New Dock Fisherman Macro and paste the Macro. Now go back to Razor, find Dock Fisherman and Right click the blank area and hit Reload. If you need more help look at this Link- http://uorforum.com/threads/how-to-copy-and-paste-a-razor-macro.868/ Let this Macro run AFK while you do other stuff or "All Night" if you like. Don't forget to set your Razor to "Drop Fish" under Razor/Options/Check-Auto-Stack Ore/Fish/Logs at Feet, carry nothing Valuable and keep your fishing pole in hand. Additionally, you may add HP < # healing check or call "Guards" to your macro if you feel the need. You may also use this Macro on a Boat, provided you "Park your Arse" in the Specific 8x8 Grid "Casting Spot". Fish on Deep Water at your own Risk and Anti-AFK Resource Gathering awareness. (Link- http://www.uorenaissance.com/?page=m_conduct ) Macro Version 1.0 (Bare Bones) Stand in One Spot and Hit 9 Different 8 X 8 Grids for maximum Gain potential with Minimum Down Time(the Fish don't seem to be biting) *8X8 Grid Refers ONLY to Resource Squares(Fish to be caught) NOT 8X8 movement gains (NON Functioning on UO:R) Code: !Loop Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3520|True Assistant.Macros.WaitForTargetAction|3 Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|-6|0 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:09 Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3520|True Assistant.Macros.WaitForTargetAction|3 Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|-5|0 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:09 Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3520|True Assistant.Macros.WaitForTargetAction|3 Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|-6|-4 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:09 Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3520|True Assistant.Macros.WaitForTargetAction|3 Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|-5|-4 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:09 Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3520|True Assistant.Macros.WaitForTargetAction|3 Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|-6|6 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:09 Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3520|True Assistant.Macros.WaitForTargetAction|3 Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|0|6 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:09 Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3520|True Assistant.Macros.WaitForTargetAction|3 Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|3|6 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:09 Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3520|True Assistant.Macros.WaitForTargetAction|3 Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|6|0 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:09 Assistant.Macros.DoubleClickTypeAction|3520|True Assistant.Macros.WaitForTargetAction|3 Assistant.Macros.TargetRelLocAction|6|-3 Assistant.Macros.PauseAction|00:00:09 Locating your Casting Spot on Any Dock facing South in other Towns, or "Open Sea" and the way this Macro works on Occlo's Dock. To find your Casting Spot if your UOAM doesn't show 8x8 Resource Grids, Fish one spot out until it says "the fish don't seem to be biting here", walk one tile North and cast one tile West(left). If you get the fish are not biting message, repeat walking one tile North, casting West until you are able to fish again. Mark this Spot H2, go back South one Tile and mark it H1 and your "Horizontal Starting Mark". Now to find the Vertical Line- Cast South and walk East one tile at a time until you are able to Fish, Mark that Spot V2, walk back West one where it says "not Biting" Mark It V1. Now standing on V1 walk 2 tiles west, then north until you stand on your H1 line and then back south 2 tiles, mark that casting spot. See 8x8 location Example below. (2 tiles South of H1, 2 tiles West of V1) 0-65 On Land you will fish up Normal Fish and Magic Fish. 80+ Sea Serpents ( No SOS Message ), Special Fishing Nets. 90+ Level 1 Treasure Maps 95+ Big Fish - for Tournaments (unmounted) and after collecting your "prize" you may use a "Taxidermy Kit" on it to make a Trophy. 100 Mib/Message in a Bottle/Waterstained SOS 100 AMiB/Ancient Message in a Bottle (1 in 20 ) from the "Shipwrecked Kraken" corpse. (When you get to mid 90's you may as well hop on a Boat and get some loot! attended...) (repeat)You can get to 100 Fishing on Land. "Deep Water" Fishing gives much faster gains, but has the chance to spawn monsters or run into already spawned monsters. Monsters will never spawn by Fishing from Land, and is one reason why I recommend using the Land/Dock method if you plan to gain AFK. Fishing on UO:R can be very Rewarding! Fishing is not going to be your highest Gold/Hour PVM experience, but it is a much less risky way to PVM then Dungeon Crawling and Dodging Player Killers. The rewards/loot you receive from Fishing can provide you with Hours of Other PVM content or very profitable amounts of Gold if you decide to sell them. Player run Fishing Tournaments are Fun! and often offer very high Prize Money to the Winners. The Nets/Special Colored Nets, MiB's/AMiB's, and Level 1 T-Maps can all be used to Farm additional Gold and Fun or sold for profit. Fishing Tournaments- The competition and Prizes are Great!, and if you Don't win a "Prize" all the "loot" you gain during competition is worth a fortune to you in PVM content or Gold if you decide to sell it. ( as of this posting- Zyler's Upcoming Tourney- http://uorforum.com/threads/8-fishing-tournament-8.11301/ Zyler's Previous Tourney- http://uorforum.com/threads/memorial-day-weekend-fishing-tournament.10388/) Big Fish- A Big Fish will range in weight from 1 - 200 stones. A Solo Fisherman may want "Magic Resist" since there will be no cross-heals to save him. With Three Fishermen, a Crafter with fishing could survive as long as the other Two were "Stoned Cold Killers" that can cross-heal. When I created my three Fishermen(Rob,Glenn,KK-http://www.uorenaissance.com/guild/688) I leaned Heavy on Cynic's "Guide to Fishing" http://uorforum.com/threads/guide-to-fishing.9336/ for my base Character set-up and Triple Pole Attack! ( If your gonna do something, might as well go All-In! ) The Skills I recommend are: Magery- Powerful and Versatile- E-Bolt Spam and Summoned Deamon's(for the Hard Hitting Tough Guys) Meditation-( a must for Magery ) Evaluate Int- (not a must, but helps with increased damage for E-Bolt Spam) Bard Skills- Music + Peacemaking(allows you to control the spawn) Disco( Nerfs your targets, making them easier to kill) *Provo( really only needed for doing Nets where you'll have multiple targets) Tracking- + Fishing( allows you to Track "Sea Creatures") helpful when they spawn at the edge of your screen and run away with your "Big Fish" in it's Belly! (50-100 Tracking is just a preference) Item ID- If you plan to Fish up your Mib's/Waterstained SOS ( use ID on the "fished up chest" to ID All Items inside with one target ) * Future Content may include additional "Casting Spots" on various Docks. ** Future Content may include a time comparison using this macro from Land and Deep Water. (Land/Dock is rolling now)
Are stats important when fishing? I.e. if i have high Str do i have more chance to catch a big fish? Or if my dex is high does it help in anyway?
I tried to use this macro at occlo docks today and the relative locations were not working at all. I had to get on a boat for rel location to actually work for some reason. I think if you used absolute locations in the macro it would work just fine. Also, I might just be a moron though I have made pretty complex razor macros in the past.
so I modified the Macro for any wannabe Fisher/Mages out there. I know its fairly simple to do but for all the lazy people out there here you go. This bumps up the wait from 9 to 10 seconds but adds Eval Int before every cast. Just keep a Horse or 2nd account next to you if the NPCs arent cooperating. Great guide and works as advertised, much thanks. Now, if I use the Britain docks as an example instead of Ocllo, is the casting position exactly the same? Or, do I have to do the pacing/casting trial and error (no fish biting) method to determine the casting position. Basically, are all south facing docks situated or oriented on the resource grid the same way? I get that the casting position needs to be set such that the casts hit all four of the surrounding resource areas.
You would need to walk it off until you find the 8x8 corner of the grid. After you find it, mark it on UOAM, or with a rune and and you can easily come back and do two more fishermen like I did. Good luck Fishing!
