Please go place me or sell me the first house west of Moonglow bank. It gets refreshed every 8-10 days. Please go place me the first house outside of a golem cave. Please place or sell for me right now anyone home within the first screen of yew moongate. You cannot do this. I know because I've been waiting. These houses don't have anyone in them, I've camped them. I've watched them get refreshed. Placing a small house beside a Mountain randomly isn't a prime location for mining. It's a good spot to mine, but prime is so much better than that, that's what you fail to see.
the yew sandstone with faction vendors is a great house and it's being used. Period. By you. You don't think that if you had a 3 house limit and you valued your property around your keep more, you'd sacrifice your guard line house to keep your main home squatter free? Would that then not open up a great guard line house for someone else to place and use?
Golem mining houses don't get lived in, they get used on mining days and then ignored the rest I sold Jack my North Brit one recently and he in turn sold it... you absolutely cannot place right outside a golem mine, but they do come up for sale ...
Never once said they don't. But I'll tell you that if you had the choice between your golem mining house or your bridged side by side by side towers.... for example. You'd redeed the mining house or sell it off. No?
You haven't looked hard enough. At least 3 houses have fallen and have been replaced near Yew Moongate within the last 3 weeks. I think if you did a forum search you might even find a couple of them. Like I said earlier too, I neglected to replace a golem cave house just last week. Someone else owns it and is selling it now. So, it's possible to still obtain these spots. Like I said earlier you'd see people sacrificing the houses blocking the area around their main homes, so long as that's not prime real estate. I would absolutely sacrifice all the houses I have placed around my fort, I would 100% keep my reg houses (because I use them). What I don't use are the houses blocking land around my fort and those were only placed there after the fish steak incident of 2015. If I were limited to 3 houses then I would have choices to make, sure. Everyone would have choices to make. I believe that all these prime spots you're talking about would still be taken. When I first started here shortly after 1st anniversary you could still place forts and keeps, just not anywhere super awesome. I placed my fort where it sits today. However, the spots you're talking about like yew gate, those were already allllll blocked up. Golem caves began being blocked once golems were introduced. My point is that people will absolutely sacrifice if they have to, however, the prime spots won't clear up. Come Hell or highwater, whether a friend of a friend of a friend has to hold a house for you, that prime spot is going to be taken.
I don't think you've looked hard enough. I also think you expect too much. Having the second best house, or being 1.5 screens away from location X instead of .5 screens away are not real problems that should be affecting your enjoyment here.
Nope, bridged towers are a dime a dozen... HAVE YOU SEEN MY GOLEM HOUSE? btw, I am down to 4 houses and could get to 3 easy
That brings me to my least favorite argument. If implemented, these house per account restrictions would only apply to those who choose to follow the rules. Sneaky VPN users would just have alt accounts hold houses and nobody could ever be the wiser. It really wouldn't even be that inconvenient as they could just co-own all their characters and then never have to log back into their alternative house holding accounts again. Also: Per telamon: "The average amount of houses, on an account that owns at least one house, is around 1.4/houses/account. " This idea that tons of people have 15 houses is a complete farce.
That's not what I was insinuating, although it does apply to this argument. I was actually thinking that a legitimate friend would hold a house if it came down to it.
It turned a dead thread into a 4 page thread. I came home to 25ish notifications and 5 private messages. It also provided conversation on the housing situation (granted that's happened many times) that I think needs to be had more. I agree that we all probably can get on the condemned status side Housing limits are never going to happen, it's too far out of the gate for that, however I don't understand how the market has inflated so much on houses/plat/etc in the matter of a year. one to almost four years - slow but steady, affordable with a little work, time vs reward = worth it, now - time vs reward takes 2-5x as much effort, massive inflation, it's just not worth the real life time vs enjoyment factor (ie utility) No patches in 2016 of any note, barely any in 2015, housing is full, active player count isn't high enough to reflect that, just seems pretty poo any more.
It seems a lot of the vets love it the way it is, which is great.... for them. While they're afraid of change, they're also afraid of losing a grip on their monetary monopoly. The richest players here don't like anything that opposes their play style. Whilst that's all fine and dandy, it's s hinderance for new players. With a population of around 500 per night, no way should a keep or fort or castle be going for 25 million.
Full disclosure, I've been playing since around the start of November. I have less than 400k in the bank. I do have a couple houses that I enjoy very much. One thing I've learned on UOR is that with razor and a few friends willing to share their knowledge with you, earning gold isn't that hard. I personally have no desire for a keep, castle, or fort, but I also don't understand why they shouldn't be 25 or whatever million. There is limited space and you don't need one of those to have fun. I thought you said this wasn't about larger homes? I feel like this conversation keeps coming back to "I reject reality because I don't own something". If you want one that bad, it will be worth the wait and I'm sure you'll be really excited about it when you finally get one. edit: Why is this now about vets and their money? The playstyles of other people have zero impact on your ability to play and thrive here.
For the last time, this isn't about personal. Unlike you, I'm not egocentric. That last post wasn't about you. It was about the players who've been here the longest and are the wealthiest. I can afford much larger than my small tower, full disclosure, I've been here since November, I've got nearly a million in the bank between my chars. What I'm doing is advocating for the other players and the fact that the housing market is in shambles with only 500 people online.
