Hey all. I am not sure if this is in the right section or if it's been asked before, but please bare with me as I'm still learning the ropes here in UOR. Loving it so far. Folks I've met are nice and the forum reads are interesting. Anyways, one of the big allures to UO in general for me was the opportunity for RP and a real player-driven social construct and economy that seldom exist in most MMOs. I was really hopeful for White Wolf's IP (World of Darkness Online) because it was to be completely player driven. It got cancelled which was a bummer. I never played EVE Online but from what I've read that is another game supposedly 100% player driven. To my point: I was just wondering how come there wasn't a forum section devoted to RP threads and if the community had ever thought of having elections for town governors/mayors/etc. I thought it'd be kinda cool to have guilds or people run for office and have the opportunity to make decisions about local social structures and give the RPers a chance to flex some ingenuity and stuff. Has this come up before or am I just kinda thinking a bit too outside the box? Cheers!

Welcome Xellos! Like others have said, Salty Dog is the RP driven area of the forums. As for elections and guilds running each town... That would require a much larger player base to have the involvement that would really be needed for that to thrive. That said... Some towns do have councils and or guilds attached to them. Why.... A proper fully immersive and elaborate RP government system doesn't really exist here. Would be cool though. I'd love to spam peoples yards with posters an signs advertising candidates...

I will keep looking around the forums. Thank you all for the responses. I hope to see y'all in game and/or IRC. So far I have just one character and it'll probably stay that way for a while. I don't really have the time to triple up on accounts and kinda think it detracts from the game anyways.
