I always figured that was because they had spares that'd save them consolidating all their coins onto one character for large price tags rather than secure trading.

This might go a little off-topic! Would "blessed checks" include platinum checks? I think vomit masks would be less valuable since ppl wouldn't dare pay too much in case they're stolen (so maybe the mechanics would work themsleves out). Of course I'm in agreement with your general idea.

The road to Trammel is not paved with one big new facet a la OSI. The road to Trammel in UOR is paved by many small "stones" that in isolation look inocculus.

I understand your logic for platinum checks --- however, in a road with many Trammel "stones" already laid (statue weights, direct to pack drops, thieving skill fails, Trammel instanced events, etc.) and many more "stones" already planned (CY wipes, CY moats, house teleporters, etc.), I can't in good faith support another.

Everyone on this server talks about loving the risk of Felluca (see the pole on this forum!), and raging against Trammel era mechanics --- yet, this same population continually applauds any Trammel-eqse change that is made.

If we compared current state mechanics to those that existed when the server began, I'd imagine a large group of players would have passed on joining on the logic of "Trammel".

@Chris obviously makes the final decision, but I hope he is aware of just how far we've crept toward something so much of us profess to "hate".

Most people here are mages, what's wrong with reduce melee damage by 50%. Only a dexer wouldn't like that. <- this is similar to your point.

I voted no. I hate thieves but if a thief does the homework and finds out when a house sale takes place (with plat involved), hats off to them. I hope they steal every last plat.

Then perhaps "platinum" checks would also be similar to their respective color (white).

I don't even see where the problem is. Ive had many trades involving plat and never been stolen from. Take the extra effort and you'll never have to worry.
