Hiya guys and gals, Just getting back to UO from a lazy 16 year hiatus. I'm very happy to see there's a shard that caters to the real UO, and not the sad state it has become in my eyes. Unfortunately I'm going to be handicapped doing what I love most; PvP, but a ping of 150 from Australia isn't about to stop me. After doing some research, I do still have a few questions to ask; Is provo dexer the quickest way to make gold to build supplies for PvP? Whats more active? Factions or O/C? Do many people PvP with a ping over 100? ARE there any other Aussies from Oceania floating about? Looking forward to meeting, killing, and dying to you!
Hello! Im playing from the EU, 150 ping is pretty managable and there are lots of players playing with 100+ ping. Fastest way to make gold would be either provo or peace dexer. O/C is more active than factions right now. If you have any more questions, then hop by on IRC. Welcome to UOR!
@Cullinarn !!!! He's from Australia, right? Side note - welcome! This server has a great community - hope you enjoy every minute of it. Easter event is about to start and should be a lot of fun.
Welcome to this shard! And welcome back to UO! Saw this documentary a few weeks ago "72 most dangerous animals in Australia". Dude, seriously, you really shouldn't worry to much about the ping. I think that's the least of your problems
hey mate - i never played oceania but good to see more aussies floating about. the most gold per hour farming is tamers. its not easy to GM a tamer with magery on your first char though so the bard/dexer is definitely recommended first.
I'm of the opinion that you can start off as a tamer and be more profitable than any other PvM template. *shock and awe*
I hear this often lol. Fortunately I don't come across many when I ride my kangaroo to work. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Starting out fresh with nothing but a sword and a few coins has brought back so many fond memories. It's funny how after 16 or so years you can remember the smallest of things regarding UO. It feels as if it was just yesterday I stopped. There's something about this sandbox style at it's purest form that hasn't and wont be matched by any other MMORPG, and I guess that's what has drawn me back after all this time. How instant are the results though? I'm not necessarily here to grind out a money maker for profit. I just want to get a few chars 7gm, small house and then rubber band around while I get smashed by 20 ping dexers like the good old days
Oh, if you're gonna just pvp it up then start with what you're gonna field. Blade spirits or a silver weapon and good location(s) will farm up what you need in a decent amount of time if you compare it to the time (wasted?) making a character specifically for farming. Besides, if you're any good... restock will eventually come to you.
It's not that I didn't mind PvE, I just loved PvPing, and that's essentially what got me wanting to come back. To be honest, I'll probably end up making a PvE char. I've read some good things about the instanced events here. What would you suggest for a tamer template? Peace, provo or pure tamer?
Welcome buddy , been on the server just shy of two months, brings back so many memories, enjoy, and if you need anything let me know!
Thanks pal. I may hold you to that one day! Very surprised to see how tight knit this whole shard is regardless of the play style! I guess that's why there's so many people on no matter what time you play.
Hi everyone, i am also from Australia. I joined UO:R a few days ago, enjoying it so far. I love seeing a full shard of players and NPCs spawned everywhere around the world! A full shard is a fun one So far the community has been great & helpful, still lots to learn but i will get there. Ping is a little over 200 but still playable. A little different compared to other shards i used to play but this one definitely has caught my attention due to how stable & well balanced it is, and of course the playerbase is excellent. I love the fact there are no donation shops or "pay to win" nonsense like other shards.... IMO, this is what kills shards. Well done to the owner! I will try bring more Aussie's to play here. Long live UO:R! Cheers.
PVP is fun no matter if you stay alive or not. Monsters behave exact the same way, no matter which one, so you know what to expect when you attack one. Attacking another player, then you never know what to expect as it will always become a surprise. We did a lot of tactical RP-PVP on Europe, it means that looting yor enemy is not the goal as it is to chop their heads of. Looting others was strickly forbidden between the RP-Guilds belonging to the Community of RPers of Europe. Funniest moment must be a training session between 2 boats, sailing around inside Vesper, 2 boats filled with ghosts oooOOOoooooOOOoo.... Damn fun really.
