And here I was thinking this shard seemed almost preternaturally polite.

Actually I apologize for my role in disabusing you of that notion.

I think, compared to most online communities, we are fairly polite (most of the time).

Unless you don't sell your property at what price and to whom they want. Then it's all thumbs and bumholes.

Hate speech, homophobic slurs, gross language, personal threats, etc are not permitted on Renaissance. If this happens to you, if someone constantly uses the f-word as a verb, then refer them to the staff for a discussion about conduct. While we understand being upset with other players, verbal combat is not the answer. If you fail to report the behavior to the staff, and post about it on the forums instead then you are as much to blame as the player in question.

We have a rule here, you cannot shame a player for their conduct if you completely fail to report that conduct to the staff. (In situations regarding players violating known rules). Shaming someone in public does not solve the problem, change the conduct. It creates animosity and reciprocity only making the problem worse.

This thread went off the rails immediately and will be locked. Please learn from this situation. If your conduct was shown here, please read the rules. If the conduct of the players in screenshots posted here concerns you. Report that conduct to the staff and trust that it will be addressed in a respectable and constructive fashion.

99% of the players we approach about verbal conduct ingame change their behavior. We do it privately and once they realized this is not the norm here will change their behavior.
