What's to stop me and my friends from simply taking all the spots? You going to have infinity vendor spots for everyone? I don't think so. There's another server that has finite stable slots. Thousands and thousands, but finite. Even with 20 players or whatever they have now, I bet EVERY stable slot is taken, even though it costs money. You price "rental" of such a thing too high, no newbie will use it, price it too low, no newbie will get the chance to use it. It also completely undermines the work that some people put in getting properties close to town to add vendors. Despite that I think @Gideon Jura 's shop is terrible and understocked, that is just because it is not stocked with the things people want to but. But I do not doubt that people still buy and his shop is very profitable. Should his investment essentually be trivialized by vendors in town that anyone can place? As a non vendor person, and one who doesn't get along well (in game at least, irl im sure everyone here is an amazing wizard) with the near-town shop owners, even I think that is lame.
Your social conscience? Or maybe you'd eventually get bored with keeping the vendors stocked just to prove a point? Some pricing rules might be needed, though, to prevent abuse. I don't see how giving newer players a place to sell a few items in-game would harm the more established vendors any more than allowing newer players to sell items in the forums does. When I buy or sell on the forums, I meet in guard zone to do the transaction. Is that hurting Gideon's shop or trivializing his investment? If anything, a little competition might encourage established vendors to keep their shops stocked with items people want. But really, a ragtag group of newbs selling a few plat coins or bolts of cloth is not likely to threaten a crafter mall that has everything and is in or close to town. And of course this is all a moot point because such a thing is unlikely to be implemented anyway.
Uhh this server cant support the vendor houses it has now... what will adding a dedicated temporary one do? ANYONE... and I mean ANYONE who wants to run a vendor is more than welcome to place at my shop. Come on by, give it a shot, see if you have what it takes... There are spots on the front porch even. Stay for a day, month or year... Over 30k visits, 4k since I bought the place about a month ago. RIGHT HERE is your temporary vendor Bazaar. Don't need no staff created spot, WE THE PLAYERS can do it our selves My suspicion is that folks like the IDEA of having a kickass vendor house in a hot spot... more so than the reality.
That's awesome -- I'll definitely hit you up when I have stuff to sell! I still think a tent flea market would be a cool feature but player-run solutions are always good.
Read all about the Yew Gate Vendor Bazaar at http://uorforum.com/threads/yew-gate-vendor-bazaar.24915/ OH IT JUST GOT REAL FOLKS !
I was going to mention Yew as well.. seems to be TONS of vendors there. I was just there this morning, and browsed out of curiosity. Lots of decently stocked vendors, too many to view!
Direct me to your vendor, and I'll only buy suits from you. But imo, I think it is becuz not many people are dying to need new suits. Either up the AI on the mobs, or more pk's need to start roaming around. This will inevitably increase your revenue.
3 accounts with an established playerbase lowers the number of vendors out there. Everytime we start to get a large influx of new players, I see more vendors popping up in response to the demand. Then everything vendoring dies down to the status quo of players that would rather buy than use their crafters again....until the next large influx of new players. That cycle is increased and decreased by the seasonal weather.
Allow only one account; kill the others! Would be more of an investment to make chars for all-around crafting etc. Also, fake-ass-trammel-thieves wouldn't appear as much since ppl would wanna do more important stuff with their player slots!
I have to agree with this, and not just because of vendoring. Triple fishing, triple bod-gathering, alt-scouts, 3 times the property per person... This is the difference between a server that can last a hundred years and one that will eventually die because new players will stop coming.
This - so much this! You want to recreate the classic feel of the Renaissance era? You want to re-live the difficulties of Felluca? One account, 5 character slots. Everybody should not be able to do everything by themselves. But, this would also drastically cut the player count, though; but since it is pretty much artificially inflated anyways due to this, could just add a standard multiplier of like 2.5x so that the number is roughly the same regardless. It would mean the same thing that it does now.
To update you @Cheapsuit I sold HUNDREDS of suits for that price.... Then when price checking other vendors across the land, I saw my suits being resold at a mark up.... this tells me 2 things 1. The people were not getting good prices they deserved 2. I was always out of stock and vendor looked abandoned 3. I was only working to make someone else gold and not help the people Yeah that's 3 things, it was a test
Yeah, in the past people have re-sold my items, also. I haven't really got into vendoring on this server yet, though.
