Ok, I'm new here so don't kill me with this suggestion... I know it's not era-accurate, however, I don't see it being a large intrusion in effecting era accuracy and balance. Think it's possible to allow owners of other homes to be co-owners elsewhere? It's a pain in the ass with 3 accounts and not having certain alternate, or in my case main characters, as co-owners to secondary homes. It's a house security thing in my case. I know there's a workaround but it's a pain, for me at least.
I'd like to see this as well. Or, the owner could have a toggle-able option to allow friends to lockdown/release items.
There was some discussion about creating a household system to tie together all your accounts. It would be great to have a toggle for each characters within the household for co-owner/friend.
I would like to suggest and/or prophesize that when housing ownership limits are put in place (by IP), that they also remove the restriction from making home owners, co-owners of other homes. I thought I made a thread about this but in a brief look, couldn't find it. I am in support of the ability to do this. If a system were implemented that could tie accounts together, that would be pretty damn sweet too.
I think the co-owner system is bugged atm. I'm pretty sure this is a known issue but... If your character is a house owner, he can't be made a co-owner of another house (which is correct). However, if your character is ALREADY a co-owner in a house, and he then becomes owner of another house, he won't lose his co-owner privileges is the first house.
I've always placed houses with my main, transferred them to an alt, then made my main a co owner. My main rarely has had a home, didn't see much point in it honestly. Seems like the best work around to me (unless you have 15 houses). That being said, I would not object to owners being co owners elsewhere.
Not sure if this is a bug. Most likely just default RunUO function, but a step in the right direction. Does anyone have any potential negative implications of allowing owners to be co-owners? I've pondered it more than once and I'm just not coming up with any argument (yes, the world is clearly ending if I have nothing to say from the Devil's Advocate stance).
I see no reason why all characters on your accounts, or at least the characters one the same one account, can't be automatically added as co-owners.
By default, all characters on an account, are automatically co-owned to any houses owned on that account. The desire is to allow alt accounts to be co-owned, even if they are already homeowners.
Unfortunately, it doesn't work do bring in any "per IP" restrictions. Many ISPs assign random IPs for every dial in and even force a disconnect ever 24h. But it goes even further. I'm with a very young ISP that already ran out of IPv4 addresses and only assigns IPv6 addresses to his customers. If I connect to any IPv4 host, my connection will be routed through a 6to4 Gateway which frequently changes the source IP address. Anyone else in my town playing on this shard could connect with the same IP as I do. And I could connect with three sessions and each session could have a different IP. And there's no hacking, routing or VPNing involved on my side. Players should rather be required to link their three accounts to the same email address and housing could become "per email". One address - three accounts max. If you frequently have accounts from multiple emails connect through the same IP - contact the addresses and ask for an explanation.
I would say friended, you cant do some stuff which a normal co-owned does. Or maybe it is a mix,not quite sure.
Wodan, every time you login here, your IP is logged and the vast majority of players will not always have the same IP address. Hell, I log in from multiple IP addresses because I play at work/other. IP would not be the only factor involved in imposing a restriction and as you mention, account registration by email address would be likely used in concert with IP logs. In short, the restrictions will be based on household to prevent hoarding. The crew working this ship are fairly clever so I have no doubt they would be able to make a manageable system to support that goal.
If you remove strongboxes I'm ok with owners being co-owners. Otherwise it has way too much potential to be abused to garner infinite secure storage.
Honestly, I'm not even sure how that would pan out to infinite secure storage. Could you cite an example? Personally, I don't have a single strongbox so I don't see the allure.
anyone friended to a house can place a strongbox the will be secure, but the house owner can access it also so in theory you could have a small house with several strong boxes from your other accounts and they would all be secures rather than just the one allowed
Kind of off-topic, well, not really I suppose: the other chars on my account are not co-owners of the house I just placed, only friends. Is this a known bug or am I missing something here?
if we set precedence on the "account linkage via the registered email field" with this issue, we can extend that to things like "one faction per player." great justice, indeed! also i support housing stuff detailed in this thread.
