I have heard/read that the middle of a small is safest when I first started here. Which I would say works since I haven't had any issues training in a small so far. Then I thought what about other houses. Say for example: A patio/villa, sandstone etc. Also does LOS come into play here with the terrain or sea? Any knowledge on this subject would be great. Thanks in advance
You can still get EQ'd from outside and if your macro doesn't have a health check, a savvy caster can still kill you with the right timing. Patch 49 fixed explosion potion damage through house walls, but you shouldn't stand next to your wall anyway. A committed effort to MS/CL you through the roof even at 1dmg per, is still possible to kill you. In the same patch, it was made so that EVs/Blade Spirits can no longer be summoned INTO a house region from outside of it. So effectively Google-, snap dragon, and other housekilling baddites just got nerfed. I'm sure they are shaking their fists and yelling Trammel right now, but these are the kinds of patches that make SENSE for the good of the shard. There is literally no purpose or decent reason to allow such things in any way, shape or form. If you want to kill someone, wait for them to come outside. If they don't, then I guess you can't kill them and you'll have to find a new victim or set better traps. There is no known LoS exploit to get people killed deeper inside their homes than one would think possible and I doubt there ever will be. All hail History Perfected!
Pretty much any spot other than two tiles next to exterior walls is safe. Make sure to always have your doors locked even interior doors, more hassle but much safer.
Thanks to everyone who responded. I think I will just stick with middle of a house and nothing on my back, use restocking options. I know you can't be 100% safe. Wise's keeping doors locked was one I hadn't thought of. Which isn't much of a pain, but no different than using a blockade at the entry door. Thanks again for the feedback!
In order not to start another topic - how can I buy a house when I can't even get 60k cash into my backpack and I cannot buy a house if have a check in my backpack. So how can i buy it?
Keep the money in your bank; anything you purchase from an NPC over 2000 gp will be auto-withdrawn from the bank for you.
