Just curious. Im not trying to start an argument or anything. I dont even know if theres a lot of people with multiple homes. With one house per character per account Im just wondering what to do with 15 houses? Some things I can fathom are placing a bunch of smalls to partition off an area for a large keep or something. How many homes do you own? What do you do with these homes? Does anyone have 15 houses? Ive always wondered about this. Thanks!
I own 2 homes, a main villa and a stone workshop right next door. I like to have a tidy home and have too many items to fit in the villa so I use the workshop as my overflow house. There a few reasons I can think of for which people may have multiple homes. Different uses like a mining home, a PK house so that they aren't bringing trouble to their regular doorstep, blockers for placing larger homes or to sell to those wishing to place a larger home, a vendor house, and as investment properties to later sell down the line. Even the notorious @Skunk Ape had a secret home.
Interesting. I also own 2. One "main" crafting and loot storage that I live out of, and another that Im trying to start a guild out of. I would find it impossible to keep track of even one more home. ...but then again, im a SUPER space cadet!
Keep for a secure (until proven otherwise.....3yrs and counting safe) place to fire off amib gates, train chars, store an armory worth of slayers/stuff. But for real sosarian-people-problems, it's a pain to decorate and i have attempted 3 times. Just not my style. I have a Large marble workshop because they're gorgeous. Pretty sure nothing is in it. I used to have multiple smalls near my keep, as well as friends' old houses on refresh..... Honestly refreshing houses angers me and even though i'd rather have kept them and SOLD them. I let them go. Even though i'm fine with them falling already, it would have been a few easy mil if I sold them instead.
I live out of my Fort. I have a large tower I use to train pets and store my fishing loot. I have a brit gy cabin I use during halloween, and a villa and stone workshop in the middle of know where I use for lumber jacking and other random stuff.
People keep houses near anything remotely considered a landmark in hopes they shoot up in value. There's huge inflation problem on UOR likely due to how PVM friendly the server is causing gold to be... worthless. I got a small at yew bank guardline for 600k when I started here and there was roughly the same population as now. That would be measured in tens of millions now no doubt. Other's keep houses to block off areas while they buy up surrounding properties or wait for them to decay in order to place a larger home on the plot of land. Often people keep some houses to block plots of land so those above mentioned people can't place their larger house. No need to sell it really. Making someone else mad is often more valuable than any gold they could pay. It becomes a waiting game. Very very very few people have a few modest houses placed around because they simply like to place and decorate them. Fair enough. They might not see much use, but at least these are decorated. Everyone can use a spare house to drop off items at, usually a patio. Everyone interested in Idocing seems to have their own even though I think patio homes are the hardest to find. Just look at the world map, all keeps castles, forts, and smalls. There's very little mid-range homes placed or plots for them unless there is an idoc. It's because why keep the mid range home if you aren't going to use it to drop items over the porch when you can upgrade it, house deed cost is pointless, gold has no value here. People run shops, valid reason for another house. Some guilds need guild homes or headquarters. Some people place them to run events, like they think in the future they will run a player-ran CTF game with their 2 homes places in a valley or something. For some reason certain people think they are doing the shard a favor by creating a "rune library". But really they just copy another existing library and it's generally a waste of space. Fair enough though, at least the public can use it. People have "rares museums" and other junk like that. Other's have opinions on these sorts of things. You don't want people learning where your PK lives do you? Better keep him in another house, or rotate which house he stays at to avoid recalling home to a surprise. Of course the very rich aren't worried about this with courtyards and whatnot. You might have characters that you don't want people to know are you. Keep them in a different home. People have "CUB" houses. What better way to contribute to the shard than to increase it's item count and reduce it's house capacity at the same time. These people are usually saints! Some have whole villiages for their future "guild town" for their 1-2 player guild. Some players have "new player housing" that is rarely if ever used. I would say that a better thing to do for new players is to not block land, but what do I know. Players like houses near certain areas so they can run in and house hide when PVP happens. All homes near ice dungeon and on the outskirts of Bucs Den where iagos pk "Deimos" lives serve this purpose for the most part. I might not know if I want to live in place A or B (or C or D or E or F or....) so I just keep them all. A placed house is more valuable than gold as I can ALWAYS get the deed price back, but I can never get a house plot of land back for deed price. What if I have some nasty neighbors and need to move? Nice to have a temporary house to stay in when elhorno ghost camps your main house. Not everyone has a castle that can just pack up and move through the sand to another location when they want to move after all.
Four here. An L-Shape with a Small Tower just in front of it so that nobody else lives just in front of it. Then another Small Tower next to a mountain because mining. Fourth is a small house where I selflessly run a homeless sheep sanctuary. I have owned about twelve at once briefly, but as much as I miss my hamlet (below) it's a pain to refresh lots of places. Two or three I think is good.
I am currently in ownership of 5 houses. I live out of a villa near a mountain as my main. I have two provo houses on Bald Isle, purchased within the last 2 months. I own a guild house for my office and title. I recently took posssesion of a small structure in front of our guild keep until we can decide our next building in front of it. I recently sold 3 proeprties as well, so I was up to 8. That is about the most I have owned at one time. I prefer a simpler life.
I have 3 houses, one on each account my guy. I got a keep as my main house with all my cool shit inside, everything I've worked hard to get, I'm not a big collector of rares, but I like me some fine ass metal chests in magic hues and I'm about to get on that carpet and deco hype. I use the CY as a pause button when RL wants to get rowdy. I got a vendor house at Yew gate that I vendor my cool shit out of. And lastly I got a patio house that I use as my drop and restock spot, its like my character selection spot, most of my guys are parked in there, If I need one I gate to out front and they run out the front door to the gate. I can't do that with my keep for security reasons. The patios locked up tight with a one way quick exit situation. I've only recently copped the patio too, before that I was running out of just the keep with a vendor spot, but ya boy 'snot had a little situation with ghosts hopping gates and fans congregating outside for autographs and shit, wanted to get my security tighter so I blocked off the front doors. I flip spots though, I also give away a lot of spots on the DL, if you see me lurking in Boo Boo land (The O C to the LO) and you're after a spot holla, I've got you. I helped a bunch of new cats place some nice spots last week, not sellin', helping. Keeping them alive while we go hunting for spots, I don't want to rob someone of that sweet ass moment you double click a deed, click the floor and your first house pops up. That shits magical.
Hello I own two beautiful houses located in wonderful places! One log directly behind the hoods in the city of Minoc (this is my main house and I really love it and began to put in order the decor!) Well, my second house, this recent acquisition near the Minoc moongate, used as a store and transshipment base for characters without magic! I really like small houses, they are very cozy and comfortable, and since I spend most of my time in real life, I simply would not have time to arrange big castles. I forgot again to thank good people for such wonderful houses @STAVROGIN @shad Thanks guys!!! Regards, Kir
I technically have one, an L-Shape. But realistically, 2 as I run the Atrium Mart outside Moonglow, but that home is owned by Canis. My L is where I park my characters and run my crafting operation out of. I've had more, but got rid of them. Too hard to remember to refresh them.
I have too many, here goes N of Vesper - a Patio, a large marble and an L shape Vesper guard line - SST West of Trinny - Large Marble and two small marbles next to the golem cave Snake Valley - i think thats what it is called - Tower and a Sandstone Minoc - Keep and Sandstone Need to downsize, but just can't get around to it - Just bought the Keepand have moved a lot of stuff into there.
Came across your estate the other day. By far my fav of the shard. To answer the question, I used to own a bunch but after losing my CuB small tower to IDOC, I realized how stupid it was to have houses all over the place. I now have my main home (a villa), my casino and sandstone for training and some extra storage. I love to decorate but it’s expensive and time consuming.. figured I’m better off just sitting on a few. Every time I tried to place to resell, I only made a very slight profit.. not worth the hassle.
One house as well, a tower. I will never fill this thing. Instead of custom castles/forts which most players will not get, there should have been a medium sized custom house with an open floor plan to appease the masses. But it went in the opposite direction.
