Platinum System Discussion

It's my opinion that it would be beneficial to know what sort of criteria you would use on deciding the inevitable fate of new/suggested plat reward.

What would also be super cool IMO is sharing some of your ideas for items/concepts you have for additional/new rewards as this will also help us stay within the realms of possibility and reason!

I'd like to chuck in the suggestion that the cost of the lockdown expansion be changed from 2 plat per lockdown to 1 plat per. It's quite a commitment to drop 50 plat on a 'worthless' small even though they are most in need of the expansion.


Edit - It's one of the few rewards that has little/no future value - They don't stay on the house if it's redeeded, can't be taken off the house and sold on like most items can, and never returns anywhere near the value spent when a house is sold with the expansions included.

*Plat coins to remove maker's mark on clothing
*Pouch/container with magic trap with/without charges (mentioned before?)
*Animal/Monster statues done similar to player statues
*Blood/Lava/Poison tiles, similar to carpet
*Jukebox in the home that plays a certain .midi/audio file of your choice when someone interacts with the house (steps on the front porch, etc)
*Spellbook dye tub (yeah right but this Trammy's a dreamer)
*LANTERN BLESS DEEDS

I think these would be cool, although not sure how easy/feasible to implement or how much demand there would be:

1. A "homestead exemption" to prevent house decay on a single house per account. The exemption auto-refreshes one time if it goes IDOC, can only be used to prevent one collapse (unless another is purchased), and does not transfer with the house. If there are concerns that this could make make any perceived housing problem worse (i.e. empty houses owned by people who no longer play or refresh just in case some day they return), you could also make it so a house cannot be refreshed by friends or co-owners if the owner hasn't logged in in xx number of days. Maybe make this available for non-transferable copper coins rather than platinum, or maybe both.

2. (this is NOT my idea, but a good idea) Sell rune bless deeds for around 1/16th or less the price of a runebook bless deed.

3. Sell pets (cats, dogs, parrots, rabbits, etc.) that you can place in your house. They cannot be barded, attacked, cannot block or attack a player, cannot leave the house (unless re-deeded), don't block tiles and only make noise heard by people inside the house. This is probably very difficult to do and sounds a bit like trammel or silly neon shards, but still I thought it would be worth mentioning.

Plat to change the waiting time to leave factions from 72 hours to 24.

I would drop some plat on that, don't think it would really effect the value of the other color books out there because they are still rare hues, vs being able to create your own.

I said that the platinum economy would get fucked back when the harrower changes were announced. I even gave different examples of how to fix it. After it came out and I was rolling in the platinum I still posted that the system was fucked. The price of platinum initially increased and eventually doubled. The original intent was that a small group of players would each get 20 platinum. The revised intent was that a small group of players would each get 200 platinum. The star room was eventually qq'd into a no recall zone, no ghosting zone. Harry practically became an instanced event. (Only takes 30 min to run most harries). Am I supposed to start a harry bot that recalls around to the harry spawns and sends a message to guild when people are spotted? How long before that is qq'd? Wanna check on the star room? 75% of the time you gotta fight your way through a horde just to take a peek. Was out pking a few weeks ago and decided to check it out and just rush through the mobs. OooOOoo ooOOo. Could more tact be used? Yea... Will people even bother? Nah. Nobody even does that champ spawn, why is it there?

Out of all of the rewards there are only 2 functional rewards. Ethereal and Runebook blessings. I never said the rewards were useless but yea, who ever said that I agree with. I bet the majority of new players don't spend platinum on anything but trade, ethereals, and runebooks for their first year.

The intent of the previous thread was a PSA on the stupidity of people still trading a currency that is only viable for newbies to purchase; the inability to actually sell off your stock because the volume does not exist (pink sheet).

Want solutions? Go back to the other harry change threads and gloss those over. Plenty of viable solutions over there instead of trying to figure out what to do with an inflated economy so people that were dumb enough to trade plat can still get their value out of it.

1 rune bless deed (5 plat) to bless a single rune! And a ethy polar bear imo make it 1000 plat. Metallic armour dyes just like leather but for metal armour or bone.

The pouch/container would either

A: Constantly be magic trapped to help get out of the same paralyze effects that a magic trapped pouch would.
B: Be able to hold x of x charges, in which the owner would need to magic trap it that many times, or up to that many times.

(This was a topic on a forum recently, so apologies to whomever, i'm not stealing this idea, just making sure it's seen)

The rune bless deed is super fantastic! Helps out new players tremendously!

The drawback to the blessed rune is you can't use it after death as you can a runebook, because you don't have any regs/scrolls. Unless you have access to your corpse, in which case you'll have access to a standard rune anyway.

It seems a lot less valuable than it may first appear?

Might as well make a runebook only 80 plat. 16*5. It would be cool to see runebooks and eathys more easily accessible for new players.

@Jill Stihl summed up why it COULD exist as a cheap option. You can't organize IT, no recalls can accompany a blessed rune (unless it has charges?....)

I think even without charges a blessed rune would be very popular. It would eliminate the need to have to constantly re-target escape macros every time you log in because it would always be on absolute target for each character. Each main would have one or two blessed runes, then they could all share a few blessed runebooks. Also, the player who kills you wouldn't get to learn where you live/bank without much more effort.

Plat to remove murder counts would make plat value sky rocket. I'd be all for this too.
Plat for bonding slots would be great. Since now so many people are just paying for the slot and not as many different people running the quest.
Spell book dye would be awesome. I could get behind this.

My suggestions:
WHITE LEATHER SUIT PIECES (to get a white leather suit)
Leather clothing blessed deeds
Robes that give + skill (like a +3)
+usage charge deeds (like add 20 charges to your runic hammer for 75plat)
Pet Stat Re-roll Deed (or pet stat increase deed)
Pet retrain deed (if you all GM on your dragon and some reds kill it, and you have to rez it, give option of buying a deed for 10 plat that raises it back to GM)
Pet skill deed (add poison to your pet, add flame to your pet, have your llama spit fire and poison folks)
Skill recover deed (if I GM poison, and then decide it sucks, and drop it for begging, and a new patch hits that makes poison good again, i can buy a skill recover deed and drop begging for poison *only if character had once GMed the skill*)
BIGGER FISHING BOATS! (ever seen a group try to toss nets together?)
Life Size Statues (imagine if you will... a WW standing perfectly still in the center of a castle...just standing there... still as a statue...cause he is a statue)
