Hello all. I have had my eye on this shard for sometime now, but between admining other shards and testing for servuo my game time has been incredibly limited. I am extremely excited to finally come to Renaissance and start playing. I have played UO since 1998 (Great Lakes [BC]) and left OSI in 2005 to help with the free shard community as I felt the direction OSI was going with game would be its death. I used to run my own server back when everything was under UOgateway, but decided just helping out as admin and testing was a significantly smaller headache than hosting (my hats off the staff running a shard this size). I did have time to run around a little bit talking to a few ppl yesterday and deciding what kind of template I will be running. With irl stuff my play time will be limited. I would really like to find a guild and some people to play with when I do get to play. I am not looking for handouts of any kind, I am looking forward to the fresh start and the grind of it all. If any group is looking for a new experienced player let me know. Time zone: UTC -6 (central) Location: Texas Normal play times: afternoons for a few hours maybe 2-3 days a week. Weekends are hit and miss depending on the honey-do-list. Again, I am very excited to start playing here and I’ll see everyone in game. PS: Shout out to Keza, you don’t know me but your videos popping up on my recommended videos was the final tipping point.
Welcome aboard. Project Sanctuary are a guild that takes on new players (vet or new). They have a subforum somewhere about. Check out IRC if you haven't already - irc.chat4all.org Port: 6667 Channel: #Renaissance
Thank you all for the replies and messages, this community is much more active than I was expecting. I may have to leave work early just to get started . I might start a mage tamer just to get it out of the way while young, then at the same time a bard mage ( or dexer) to make some money. I prefer having as few characters as possible, so after those 2 I’m sure I’ll have a crafter and a pvper. Haven’t pick a pvp template yet tho, leaning towards a mage/scribe/stun punch. May go standard tank mage though. While I’m thinking about that, what is the default object delay timer?
@Salendro a bard mage is probably the best starting character here on UOR. A tamer is one of the hardest & most expensive ones to build... But of course it's up to you. Welcome to UOR!
I recommend mage bard with hide, which will fund everything else you want to do in the game. It's a really fun char. You could go anything honestly, hop onto irc and ask anyone questions. Pretty sure 95% of the players will help you one way or another. Search the guide section, there's tons of resources.
Welcome to the shard, the best around for sure. I've played the game since 97. This by far is my favorite era of the game. Here we have a lot of active players amongst events. You have many new player guilds to choose from that help out with hunting and such to get you on your feet. Not so much in hand outs(I know you're not looking for em), more of showing you around. I hope you enjoy yourself here. If you need any help with mechanics of the server I recommend IRC or a search of the forums. Easy access for answers can be found in IRC.
Make a character with 50 taming and 50 provo/magery. That way your mage bard can eventually be a povo tamer, knocking out both concepts at once! btw hiding is for sissies! Don't die a minute later, Kill them in the present! If you need some started gold/regs pm me with irc name/availability
Thanks @Valrick still not to sure what I’ll do, but I know I will at least 2 going at the same time and hold on to the third for a bit.
Who were you in BC? Lots of BC players were on this server until recently. Me, Xegugg, Cenemortu, just to name a few... I think I'm the only one left, though. Edit: Oh, and welcome to UOR!
If you know Ice, i joined shortly after she left OSI. My pvper was Diedrick, I played mostly with Shazahan, Darius, 8mile and occasionally Bart.
I agree with this template. I ran this for my own use for a long time. When you have a more casual playstyle and things can detract from your attention quickly in the real, gm hiding skill is a true blessing. Find a nice quiet corner wher your hunting and hide until your ready to come back. If you pcik your hiding spots well, your 99% assured not to be messed with or noticed. Welcome to UO:R. It's a great helpful community of people here, as you have already witnessed. Project Sanctuary is a great guild they are helpful to new players and usually have people on most times of the day. I am part of a slightly smaller guild, the House of Oor'tael. We like helping new players to UO:R get established and have soem fun in this world. @Cullinarn is our House Master. Feel free to join our IRC channel at #oor'tael
It has been long time, I’m not sure. Only person I still have contact with is Ice who I play with every now and then on a server I log into about once a month. Oh also Bart is Silver who was GM for a little bit
Welcome to UOR. Keza's videos are a great resource esp for new players they deserve more views/traffic.
